Yeah its a pain in the ass to get it back neatly. Most of the time its not in right anyway due to lazy alarm fitters.

Plus some people love to have shiny new things. I suggested to sis she buys a cheap Boxster for her money. She said "Ug its ancient and will be tatty" she would much rather have her shiny new corsa. I know what I would buy with that cash (968 :))

Brand new car has a ~3 year warranty. That means its been designed so that nothing will go wrong with it for at least 3 years, and if it does it will get fixed for free with free courtesy car. Plus buying a new car can be cheaper than used. My sister bought a brand new 1.2 16v Corsa Breeze (aircon, alloys) for £7500 cash last month from a random dealer in Manchester. List price was £10,000 and the cheapest we had it before then was £9000 after ringhing round 7 dealerships. Year old ones were in the auto trader for £7500 at that time. So she has a free car for a year?!!

Quick question, is this the correct oil filter for VR
was8v replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Engine Bay
Yep thats right. Its in a black plastic housing (with a drain plug) on the front of the engine. Later golf VR6 engines had a similar filter but with different shaped plastic ends. IIRC all 2.9 Corrado engiens use those filters pictured. The idea is these cartridge filters are more enviromentally friendly than throw away metal ones. -
Indeed, but the BMC CDA has shown proven gains by a few people on here, without the excessive noise of a k&n - which would need boxing in to prevent sucking up engine bay air. I suppose a length of soil pipe around a cone filter would have a similar effect :dorky: EDIT: The BMC claims to have a vortex effect too, and of course the carbon will be better at keeping heat out (material properties).

BMC DIA 85-150: D1 (mm) D2 (mm) H (mm) 85 150 220 These DIA induction kits appear to be pretty much the same as CDA filters, with plastic instead of carbon enclosures. A DIA can be had for £100 new, whereas a CDA is £150+ Listed on the BMC website right at the end on here: http://www.bmcairfilters.com/infoCDA.asp Has anyone on here used a DIA on their car? Granted it doesn't look as good, but if it performs the same it sounds like a good deal. For comparison, heres the drawing for a BMC CDA 85-150: D1 (mm) D2 (mm) L1 (mm) 85 150 200

I had an injector fail open once on my VR6, plumes of white smoke and of course miss firing. It was doing it all the time though, it didn't stop. Replaced it with a spare and its fine.

I fitted one of these a few months back: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0250956872 No branding, but cheap enough and 1 yr warranty. No problems yet, I figured if it went wrong again I would get mine refurbed at a local place and send that back for refund. It didn't come with a new bush though. I didn't bother with a GSF one as a brand wasn't listed and if unbranded it was unlikely to be any better than the above and ££ more. Fitting is dead easy, just disconenct the wiring and unbolt and bolt the new one in.

On a VR6 you need a spanner to fit the sump plug (I usually get a new copper washer for the sump plug as old ones leak). An allen key to remove the drain plug from the bottom of the filter housing. Put the filter drain plug back in (to stop the hosuing deforming), then to remove the filter housing you'll need a really big socket (or a filter housing tool), I've always just used a pair of water pump pliers to undo. New filters normally come with new seals for the filter housing and the drain plug too.

I use KU31s too and find them better than Toyos in the wet and equal in the dry. A world better than the federals originally on there and a galaxy better than Yoko A539s in the wet. Camskill do them for £45ish each delivered, the last one I got was through a local tyre place for 55 fitted in a rush.

Fully synth is overkill for a standard VR6 IMO. Most people use 10/40 synta silver or other decent semi synth, e.g. the Fuchs titan xtr from GSF at about £15 delivered for 5l (web price). Maybe use a 10/50 if its consuming oil, that will nip it in the bud unless its too late. Because its cheaper you can change it more often if you want :)

Aha! that would make a difference :D If that was not an issue then terms of springing and spring rates then I don't think it makes any difference :salute:
-
I don't see how it can make a difference? 2 springs (with different rates) stacked will give the same effect no matter which order they are in? I may be wrong
-
The ABS runs as an independant system in corrados with its own seperate ecu. So I think you can just not bother with it.

Hi mate a few people have done this on clubgti - http://clubgti.co.uk/forum/ maybe worth a search on there?

Your car could have stood around for a month or two (in a showroom etc) before being registered, mine may have been built and then registered quickly so thers prob more than 5 days between build dates. I suppose if we were really geeky we could compare chassis numbers that might show how many cars were built between our cars. -

Odd mines first registered 30 sept 92, I got the late dash, door cards and black leather recaro interior from the factory. Maybe yours was built before mine and put in a showroom until it was first registered? -
Get it compression tested both dry and wet. Maybe a leak down test if you can? That will tell you what is leaking head gasket /bores / seals in head.

The real home of those rims: http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb11 ... 008232.jpg http://clubgti.co.uk/forum/showthread.p ... 405&page=5 :salute:

:D 8) Brilliant! that would be most of it then..... The guy is a legend!
-
LOL I very much doubt those wheels are going on the car! Someones windign you all up :gag: Theres a build thread on here or CGTI for the Corrado and its possibly the best evolution of a track orientated corrado. Haldex 4wd, motorsport coilovers, R32 engine, 6 speed box, rollcage for stiffness and he keeps banging on about a carbon roof.

http://clubgti.co.uk/forum/showthread.p ... 07&page=26 Yeah it is PhatVR6's, he's taking the piss. Furkz is trolling us  The guy also has an S8, suspect the wheels are for that or something.

Mines a 92 K too but has late interior. His must be a really early 92 car, like one of the very first VRs. -
Yep offer them £500, you are in a great position as it would probably go to auction if you dont take it cause the dealer some hassle and probably not fetch any more than that. Of course in a private sale it may be worth well over a grand, but the dealer wouldn't be able to get close to that through their channels, its not worth their time.

Nice install, much better than gauge pods. A bit awkawrd for the driver to read though?!
