  1. Hi Matt, I dont think i mentioned to you in my pm about why mine kept blowing as well as the pump for the door pin i also had some chaffing in the fuse box area. Bear with me here & i'll try to explain best i can, right once the lower shelf is removed and then you can see the white plastic retaining prong to the left of the fuse box, just make sure that ALL the wires pass through the bracket holding the fuse box in place. The bracket looks like this shape as you look directly at it from the front, |''''''''''''''''''''''''| and the fuse box sits inside the space of the 2 outer arms! Well those outer arms are chamfered in a manor that they splay/curve outwards as they finish (nearer the bulk head) they are like this to avoid any wires being rubbed through as would be the case if they only had flat edges like the front of the arms. Several wires on mine had at some point been moved to outside the right hand arm, thus causing a very sharp edge cutting into the wire! it was almost an inch of insulation rubbed off it. So definately check all wires pass through it, if not simply remove the white prong on the right and wiggle the fuse box till it pops out of the arms then simply relocate any wires to inside the arms! Sorry if it sounds hard to understand but if you have problems with it drop me a pm with a number & i'll call you to discuss  Hope that helps! Sympathy as always, i know how it is
  2. lovin the flowers mate 8) might have to have a dabble at that
  3. Hi Chris, Well many congrats on being a dad, Totally missed that one   the car is as said looking fantastic and i'm glad you decided not to sell it and get a storm as i thi nk yours is a little more individual. Keep it up matey :salute:
  4. now come on Kip, they're never 15" wheels?? I was going to say 13s at the most, i mean look how much arch space there is!! ;) you know i like the original look John, and have you seen the state of the roads in Yorkshire  I Do agree though that there is a fair old gap but i'm not doing the suspension again as only recently added the bilstein B4 dampers, mounts bushes & bolts etc
  5. Yeah sorry, i'm a bit naff at uploading pics and stuff so thought i'd split the post to be on the safe side as sometimes it just crashes and loses half an hours worth of typing and picture adding :epicfail:
  6. Cheers Leigh, really pleased with the look if i'm honest, had loads of looks driving it home today too  Jim, you may be correct in what you say and maybe its just the original one fitted is past its best but they aren't much cheaper than the Vibra ones thats what made me think of it, I really noticed the difference when i fitted one to the VR too but wasnt expecting much from the baby of the bunch just a little more solidity when accelerating. Will have a chat with Graham & Dave on monday as going down to have the clutch & Chains & everything else done next week, 3 Days off work to play with cars wheeeeeee! Went for the 195/50/15 option on the tyres matey, which is what the 8v's came with anyway
  7. Well ta for the comments chaps! :salute: Pete thats good info matey thanks although i'm now getting a little paranoid as i have a vibratechnics on my VR :? I thought it did a good job if i'm honest but what happened to yours? did it just start to fall apart or something?
  8. aye that'll be me
  9. is that a BMW symbol in the bottom right hand corner John???? As above too should be a mid blue colour, will pop in and show you if ya like
  10. Well a little update on the 8v for a change! Been busy today fitting the wheels i bought off Garret (thanks matey) had them fitted with some new toyo's today so thought it'd be rude not to whack them on. I thought the ones on the car before looked ok but i like the look of the sebrings better and i was well chuffed with the price they were too so i ended up driving to london to pick em up a few weeks ago. I also fitted the fogs and front indicators that came out of the VR after i got new ones for that so thought i'd pass them on to give it a treat  Also fitted new roof strips to the VR when i had the windscreen area painted so again fitted the ones off there onto it as the ones on the 8v were almost white as they have never been treated with anything. Am really pleased with how it looks now and i think i'll get a vibratechnics front mount for it soon too as it feels a bit sloppy when accelerating and i had a quote from the dealers for £135 so may as well go for the vibra version instead. :) Heres a few pics.
  11. Well i'd be happy to let him gloat about how fast a fiesta is and then remind him that the car you are driving which gives him a near run for his money was designed over 20 years ago and still looks awsome
  12. :nono: :nono: :nono:  Glad it's moving though Dave, might pop over tomorrow if you are around?

  16. Nice progress with the bumper, was looking at the pics further up and thinking it looks a bit odd with the bumper being narrower but the last pics buttoned my lip  Sounds like an air gun has been used on you Mcguard's which is a big No No! i dont think they are supposed to be done up as tight as the standard bolts either. Good luck for friday
  17. Well i have no idea whatsoever whats happening in the pics but I can only add that i'm totally impressed with the shear determination and willingness to just get on and do it! Hope all goes as you planned it to! very impressive stuff. :notworthy: :salute:
  18. Fingers crossed for you matey!really hope it makes BVF
  19. Have you tried Adrian Flux/Chris Knott matey? maybe worth a quick call if you haven't already done so. :?

It looks ridiculous if you ask me! How the hell they give MOT's to these cars is totally beyond me really. I mean you just cant drive the damn thing anywhere for a start as its too low, meaning dangerous! weather it has air ride or not! and the wheels stick out too much and tyre stretch what is that all about? I'm sure tyre companys would void any kind of liability (insurance too) as they are not being used as they were correctly intended for! Sorry to the guys who love this look but i really dont get it with all the safety issues going on! Waits patiently to be shot! :2gunfire:
  22. Oh man gutted for you! As Yan says though matey it is a dooable task for not a huge outlay and if deviant comes to help you too it'll makes the job actually pleasurable as you will gain from the experiance and probably have a good old laugh while you do it. Good luck and dont worry
  23. Well i fitted mine yesterday along with new plugs and the VR now runs like a thrusting dog again!
  24. Its just my early valver was doing exactly the same, used something like 2 litres a day but yet the oil looked ok and even the dealers said it wasn't the gasket but then i had huge amounts of white cloud almost like steam coming out the exhaust on start up. the trouble with leaks is that when everything gets warm it can expand and temporarilly seal the leakwhich is a bigger pain to track down. I think in the end i whacked in some redweld and that cured it, it was 12 or 13 years ago now so cant quite remember.
