  1. Amen to standard ride height
  2. I hate these with a vengeance  Remove the inner screw (inside the car) which screws into a plastic tube bit at the front part of the triangle, once thats removed gently wiggle it while sliding/pushing it back to the rear of the car as it hooks into place at the back section. Good luck.
  3. You are more than welcome to come over and try mine, Chris :-)
  4. Nice work, yet to do one myself with 5 corrado's in the line up i aint looking forward to it lol!

He ended going for Eibach springs Kev, although he does say they aint the perfect but found them the best of the bunch. Guess it's a mega personal thing isn't it, he's in his early 50's but a proper vw petrol head :)

I mean why buy tyres like Nangkang or whatever they are. Tyres and suspension components mean the difference between lying upside down in a ditch or actually enjoying the corner you just went round. :) Just pure false economy, just like rear bearings from GSF  why do a ****e jobs more than once because somethings broke or worn out. I'd look at something like eibach or Pi springs with a decentish damper from Koni or bilstein. I don't actually use any of the above as mine are almost all standard now but a friend has experimented with 15 different kits on the same car (money no object obviously ) and still ended up going for Koni TA's with a decent spring, not sure which brand now though but it rides great, looks great and i know it will last a while too.
  7. Amen, and thats also why folk who buy stuff from Euro car parts and GSF are actually making parts obsolete due to lack of demand from VW, but thats another story :) Right then, Fronts are still available £67 +VAT Part number 535 413 031C Spring to suit, £55 +VAT Part Number 357 411 105AF Rears showing damper obsolete but probably still available from classic parts, Dampers £51 + VAT Part Number 1H0 513 031F Spring to suit £53 +VAT Part Number 1H55 1111 5K These parts were for my own chassis so could be slightly different for yours but think it'd be the same. Happy to get these ordered for you too mate from my TPS man then you could pay him over the phone with your own card :) As David Wort suggests though you could get some used springs and have them refurbed but be sure to get the right spring codes as there are 4 or 5 different spring rates too. Kip ;)
  8. Think as long as they supplied for 10 years thats all they are required to do though now plus how many Corrado's do you know that want standard other than mine & judes cars :)
  9. As said only the springs alter the height, and if original fit dampers weren't available when I bought mine I'd have gone for the bilstein B4.s
  10. Ah Jolly good, a reason to flush it all out and refresh then chap :)
  11. Chris, I bought what was supposedly the last pair of rear dampers 3 years ago now along with the fronts which at the time were still available, as you know i have just gone completely standard again but always had the original springs anyway so just had them nylon coated. James is right about refurbing an old set as the seals and stuff will probably be no good now approaching nearly 20 years old so if you cand get any new VAG ones something like bilstein B4 would be an excellent choice and just paint the rear ones red :) I'll ask my TPS guy and ask on availability for you, yours is a 95 aint it? After the dampers and springs come a LOT of other little bits which works out around another £200 on top of the dampers and springs so all in all it isn't a cheap project but if you want to go down this avenue then it's worth doing right in my opinion and not cutting corners using cheap ebay stuff like bushes & top mounts. I have a list of all the other bits and part numbers for everything excluding the dampers & springs so once i've asked him i'll let you know. Will report back soon ;)
  12. That coolant Pete? Got mine back on axle stands to sort the power steering, need to clean all the pipes through then fit a new pump and hopefully refil the system and that'll be it, fingers crossed :/
  13. 41 now and bought my first 1.8 16v in 95 kept it for 2 years and sold it and went without for another 2 years while I saved up to buy the VR6 I still have now which I bought in 1999 plus the other 2 I currently own so only 4 Corrado's in 18 years :)
  14. Yeah no harm at all asking about it Steve, they can only say no mate, i think as long as you dont go knocking late at night it wouldn't be a problem. Iy you didn't want to hassle them in person just stick a note through the letter box asking if they are interested to give you a call.
  15. Here's one for you. take a dual carriageway at a quiet time in the evening, 2 Corrado VR6's one with standard 280mm brakes the other with 288's fitted drive said cars at 60 mph and then both agree before hand which sign or lamp post you are both going to start braking at, and do a complete emergency stop ( nothing behind you of course ) then watch the driver of the Corrado with 288's smile at you in your rear view mirror as you continue moving forward quite some distance further. Repeat several times and even swap drivers too and get the same results. Bigger brakes stop quicker FACT! now stop bloody winding people up :)
  16. Best way of removal is to raise the hatch, squirt a little WD40 on the pins and then push the pegs carefully with a biro or pencil that's the same size, less chance of breaking them this way.
  17. Is the forum down or has no one posted today since midday?

  20. Yeah, the stripping underseal and all that was truly awful but needed to be done. am sure you'll have a few issues. I particularly enjoyed the front roll bar bushes  till i fathomed a plan ;)
  21. Looking good mate, am sure you wont need any help but if you get stuck with anything just as having recently done it all too. A very satisfying task knowing that i did it all myself and have both good and bad memories of it all
