Exactly, i think they are good reliable cars, just that a lot of the components have never been changed on many cars so when they fail after 115 o so years we see to slag them off as unreliable, me included but then when you are running 5 of them things are much more likely to happen and to be quite honest not that much has gone wrong with them. I'd much rather drive a C than have something like the courtesy car i have, Mitsubishi Lancer GS2 deisel, quite pokey too and some real low down grunt to even shame a VR but it has absoloutly no soul whatsoever and it corners like a hot tub on stilts walking on a pie

Yeah did watch that one, would be good to see the same car trying to get up it though but i guess the same principle applies. am thinking about another pair for the rear now
-
Crikey some reading there, mostly having a go at each other though!
-
Wheeeee back end action bring it on! good find! :salute: Joking aside though i dont think i'd get anywhere near that speed due to every bugger else on the road. Do you sell tyres then?
-
Coz i'll be on me 20 year old mountain bike passing everyone stuck behind idiots who've crashed
-
Yeah the vid does prove a point but as you say i think the vid doesn't really compare as a Corrado brakes mainly on the front end where as the vid shows standard tyres on the front doing nothing at all. I guess you have to drive within your limits in the conditions we had last year and if i do get to try them out when it snows and i think they are worth it i'll be happily ordering another pair :)
-
Did I read that right? are you fitting 2 winters and 2 summers? You did mate, i know they grip just as well on the rear too but from what i read on here and other places a pair on the front make a massive difference, do you think its a bad idea to do just the fronts?

Kev, you could pm Alex on here (volksworld13) as he is using the genuine steel pipe to refabricate new pipes for his car and was planning on selling a few sets too to exact shape as the original so i know he has the right kit too. :?

Great to hear thing have gone well matey :D like the comments at the end about your GF missing the roar Lol! lookig forward to the pics

Just had a pair of conti ts800's fitted to a spare set of sebrings on the daily :D had a word with a mate who works at a tyre fitters and all they could get me were some Mastersteel tyres for £65 each fitted  Who i said. Ended up ordering from my tyres after reading on here and with fitting it worked out at £150 all fitted so only £20 more than the shite they were selling. The chap who fitted them said availability is a major problem though  Roll on the snow! Just hope they work now but then the tyres that were on are almost shot anyway so will be way better i'm sure :? plus they ill go on the nugget before it goes to the body shop as dont wanna take it in with the BBS wheels on.

Yeah i quite like doing this sort of thing, it's not that i dont trust the guys doing the work but as i have a second hand tailgate i wanted to strip all the trim and mechanicals from the original and fit it all back into the used one when i get it back, that way i know everything works  Learned quite a lot stripping out the spoiler mech and other gubbins too so pleased about that also. Not to mention it being a damn site easier for them to prepare and paint the intricate shape of the tailgate. Eric yes was a very nice satisfying few hours! :luvlove: Did laugh out to myself when i saw the slush puppy sticker under the seats

Having bonnet, both sides all the way to rear and slam panel and both bumpers :) and maybe a roof polish/flat back a bit.
-
 sleepless nights already

Bugger! did they accept liability mate, definately fixable but not the greatest pics, a good body shop will probably pull that out and repair it rather than fit a new panel. As said what is the B pilar like behind the ding? Get ready to dig your heels in mate, good luck!

Liking the hairspray ideas though

I know what you mean Gaz, it took me while to get into the idea but after the first lot i painted on the vr i masked up the complete braking surface and sure enough because the pad doesn't contact all the disc it leaves a rusty lip above and below where the pad contacts it. A guy i know who works as a mechanic at an Audi dealership said to whack on some paint before fitting new discs so then the only bare metal is the bit the pad contacts and actually leaves a nice painted bit on the part of the disc that isnt used when applying the brakes. Not talking hamerite or anything but satin black or silver as i have done to both mine and Butterflys VR's looks and works perfectly, i guess if i didn't tell most folk they'd just think i'd painted the edges. I'll never fit new discs again without coating them in paint first, even inside the disc you cant see gets a good coating as it prevents corrosion all round. Like i say not intending to convert people but not had a problem with 4 cars done now. :?

I did feel really unsure about what toad mentions for a while but i guess if you dont use the brakes while the paint is wet then you are just scraping off dry paint which i feel cant be any worse than layers of rust, just my feling on it though and certainly dont want anyone to take my methods as gospel  just been happy with the results from previous experience....

Check out my thread on the brake refurb, fully painted the discs with 3 coats of plastikote paint, did 3 or 4 miles and it'd all rubbed off, it does smell for a day or two but goes away in no time and i can assure you you will not have braking problems and they will bite just as intended. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=63981&hilit=summers&start=285

Wheels off, Clear laquer aerosol, wheels on... it'll burn off within 3 miles so just go easy on the first drive.
