  1. Had the 'Its a Scirocco isnt it?' comment this morning. :bad-words: Its funny, because even a person with VERY VERY Little interest in cars can tell 2 shapes apart. How does a corrado look like an old vectra, Beemer or Focus. I mean you wouldnt get a circle, square or triangle mixed up even if you didnt know what they were called  Its almost as if they have absolutely no concept of different car designs.
  2. Funny that someone should bring this up because this happened to me this morning and i thought how annoying it was.
  3. Wrapping the manifold is down to personal choice, you dont HAVE to wrap it. The reason i and other wrap the manifold is for 2 reasons - 1 - As soon as the exhaust gasses leave the engine they start to cool down, which means they slow down. The heat wrap keeps the heat of the exhaust inside the manifold, which means the exhaust gasses stay hotter for longer, less dense and they move faster through the manifold. Which leads to better performance. 2 - stops the heat from the manifold soaking the engine bay, thus raising under bonnet temperatures. This will also protect nearby pipes from being melted. On the VR for one, theres a pipe just to the left, which i believe is the steering column. Its only about an inch away from the manifold. I used http://www.thermotec.com/ to wrap mine, i also bought some silicone to spray on the manifold. Which helps repell water and seals the wrap once its on the manifold. I bought 2" wide x 50 m long wrap and 1 can of silicone. This was a enough to wrap the whole manifold and that had some cut off too. So plenty of it. Not knowing that at the time i bought 2 lots of wrap and silicone. You can however get the manifold ceramically coated as opposed to using fiberglass heat wrap. But its more expensive and i couldnt justify the cermanic coating seen as the manifold cost me considerably less then the coating. I will say, i'd advise you to decide to get it wrapped or coated BEFORE its fitted as its a PITA to get it fitted/removed. Believe me wrapping it whilst its fitted to car, IS NOT FUN  Oh and also you'll need some metal straps to hold it in place, i personally used some copper wire which imo was better as i had more of it. The metal straps you can buy are pricey.
  4. sounds like you came out ontop there mate :D Give the meguiars 3 step system a go. I love it. I carried out the 3 step system on my car and 2 weeks later it was filthy, all i did was wash it with a decent shampoo and dried it off. It still looked as if id jsut polished it :D I love it.
  5. Looks a nice example. How much you pay for it, if you dont mind me asking? Like the colour is it dark burgundy? Look forward to seeing the pics of it lowered and on the new rims :D
  6. Got a Raceland 6 branch on my VR6. No increase in hp, but i did notice slightly better throttle response. As for noise, before i wrappped it in thermotec heat wrap i had a 'sucking' noise when i opened the throttle - apparently gases passing through the manifold. I was told it would disappear once carbon builds up a bit. But after a few 1000 miles it was still there. It is generally advised to wrap the manifold to lower the under bonnets temps, but for me this also reduced the 'sucking' noise more or less completely. Not sure about the quality of the 2 above are like. But they will probably be the same as the Raceland manifolds and they are very good quality esp for price (£160) HTHs
  7. I prefer that to the Focus tbh, i'd rather own one of them over the focus. Though as said, if i was a fan of the old capri i would be disgusted. Its just a modern shaped car with the capri name :? At least the Fiat 500 and mini look like the car they're based on - even if i hate the new mini, too common
  8. IF i liked the wheels and IF i had the money i could be tempted to buy them at that price, simply cos i dont know any better. How much are those wheels normally, scene tax added? Or am i missing the point? Also if you read the thread they start 'giving opinions' on others wheels  Yet ANOTHER thread on ED38 that has arguments in it sheeeesh.. every thread i read on that forum someone is arguing about something with someone else. :? I like how someone has an opinion on the wheels and 'the crew' jump on him for daring to say anything other then 'they are sweet... dude' Sorry off topic i know, but that, so called 'the dogs bollox' forum winds me up sometimes.
  9. That's exactly the reason it was taken off the air all those years ago, the car reviews had become so boring and samey that no-ne watched it anymore. Besides, you should watch 5th Gear if you want reviews, they can actually drive properly on that program. And another thing....you have to pay a licence fee to watch the Beeb on the tv, but iPlayer is free? Yeah true, but i find most of the presenters, esp VBH, really annoying on Fifth Gear. Also i dont really rate their reviews of cars tbh.
  10. In an M5? Are you insane? Or 8 years old? What exactly is "gay" about a 400BHP 5 series saloon? 508bhp ;)
  11. Take the round covers off the back of the headlight and check the connections inside for each bulb.
  12. Good stuff.. its something i've always wanted to get done. Will make the engine bay look smarter. Get some pics up when its done and refitted. :D
  13. Ceramic coating is expensive, but it does do he job rather well. I was going to get it done on my Raceland 6 branch. But it only cost me £60 and the ceramic coating was going to cost me £120 - that was for a new manifold. For a used one it will need cleaning first which they can do but will cost more. In the end i heat wrappped the manifold.
  14. eh, sure i've just responded to this... Its definately a MOT failure. Mine failed for this last month turned out to be the relays on my wiring loom. Do you have an uprated headlight wiring loom? Daft question - have you checke the bulb?
  15. Im confused... :? Do you mean inlet manifold or exhaust manifold? I ask because i wouldnt think you would ceramically coat an inlet as it doesnt get hot enough, but then you wouldnt powder coat an exhaust manifold. Am i talking rubbish?
  16. Speaking from experience, for future reference i'd stay away from the hottuning coilovers. Mistrall - 1 finger space under arch isnt a bad thing. Just means its probably low enough to scrape your front splitter and CAT shield. But there needs to be enough space between wheel and arch to allow the straps can be put on for the geometry setup. You want to drive it for a little while, maybe a couple of weeks. Then readjust the height if you want it slightly higher or lower. Then get the geometry set up on it with a 4 wheel alignment. Even if you dont want to adjust the height, still leave it a week or 2 to settle and then get the geometry done. Height wont affect the MOT, they jack the car up anyway to check springs etc. Just means they may struggle to get a jack under
  17. Black rado spotted coming out the junction of Austhorpe road in Crossgates at about 5:30. Only saw it from side as i was sat at the lights waiting to go down Austhorpe road. Had standard BBS alloys, so i assumed it was a G60. Not seen it before
  18. Sounds about right. Got in the car tonight to go to the gfs and theres now a constant squeak from the rear not just over bad bumps. Turns out its the stealth shelf - the pegs that latch onto the boot shelves squeak. It did only do this when you opened the boot. grrrr another job on the list.
  19. ^^ I can related to that... 'What are you doing to it now?'
  20. like the Scirocco and the volvo... oops forgot to stop after scirocco  I really really liked the Mito when i saw the ads, and the pics made it look cool too. But then someone at the company next door to work bought one and i went off it. When i saw it in the flesh i didnt think it looked as good.
  21. You'll be there a life time with a hack saw. I'd first try a socket and rachet and use an extension bar... failing that. I ended up using a angle grinder.
  22. If its the front bolts (2 holding the bottom of the strut to the hub) i ended up having to cut these b*ggers out and replaced them with new.
