  1. Cheers for this post Dr_Matt, had very vague steering for a while now and weaving under braking pi$$ing me off tbh. Ill give the wheel bearings a go first before replacing anything else.
  2. I don't think i'd be driving a Corrado if I could just summon that kind of cash in a heartbeat, let alone a valver! :) Here, Here.
  3. Aha I misread that bit. Hmm that puts a different slant on it :-) forget VW, go to VEGE. Saying that, VEGE do only have limited supply. They only had 2 when i ordered mine and the other one was already sold. So a group buy IF you were serious, i wouldnt be sure it was possible due to supply.
  4. Second that. You own a gorgeous car mate :thumbleft: and you have some amazing scenery! 8) So you guys have never been to the west coast of Scotland then. Nice car by the way, ya!!! No :( but if it looks like that, i think me and the gf will have a drive up there one sunny day 8)
  5. herisites, read above dude. The answer you're after is the answer i got. :D
  6. Yeah thats what i thought, but i thought id ask to make sure.
  7. Bugger! That means they've got to come off now :( good job i havent yet had the geometry setup! I contact v-maxx originally about it and i said that on their website the small spring was put at the bottom where as mine were delivered with it at the top, i was told that it was an old pic (??). Could this be why the car feels a bit 'bouncy' on rougher roads? Why oh why werent they assembled correctly before delivery? I suppose i better get it stripped down again then. Cheers Kev Gaz

  9. Hi all, I'm hoping someone can finally clear something up for me. Bought a set of V-maxx coilovers and they consist of 2 springs. Mine came like - shorter, thinner springs on top and then the larger spring on the bottom. Though on the website i bought the coilovers from showed the pic of the coilovers with the small spring on the bottom and the larger one on top? - see pics. Now, does it matter which way round they are. Like i say every pic i've seen the small spring on the bottom not the top like mine. Even a pic of someones C on here with the small spring on the bottom? Can anyone shed some light on this for me and tell me if it matters or not, and if it does which way round should it be? Also when adjusting the the ride height should the middle spring plates be adjusted also - surely if not the smaller spring will just compress thus less dampening?
  10. Skinnymann, i've just bought a set of V-Maxx coilies. They DO look the part, as for the ride quality i wish i could help you. But i've no other coilovers to compare them to other then OEM suspension and FK shocks/springs. Again i only heard good things about them, they do seem harsh especially on some of the more in desperate need for a resurface roads, but what coilovers arent a little more on the harsh side... or so i've read on here. For £300-£400 i dont think you can go wrong. I agree, id loved to have spent more on some coilovers but as Jim said its not always an option, well not yet anyway. I'm using the V-Maxx as a very reasonable stepping stone towards some kw's or Weitech's. I'd be grateful, once you've fitted them, if you could update this thread and let me/others know what you think of them. :D
  11. Maybe thats where i went wrong, i didnt rub the laquer down after letting it harden for a while.
  12. You're not wrong :D MK1 - Not the first hot hatch as everyone thinks. A rust bucket with schitt brakes, schitt heater, slow arse wipers and soggy suspension. Not very quick either, rubbish aerodynamics. MK2 - And the 16V in particular was VW's first, proper GTI imo :D MK3 - Better build quality than MK2, not sporty enough for the GTI badge. MK4 - Has a great platform to do great things, but unrealised by VW. Soggy blancmange arsed gibbon wagon.... MK5 - Technically the best yet....by a country mile. Brilliant engine, even better chassis, great looking. MK6 - Fugly.... but still a driver's car underneath. So, what was the first hot hatch?
  13. £1700 for a 2.9 from VEGE, thats £200 cheaper then mine cost and that was only January! Though i didnt get the 10% off.
  14. yeah going by what you've said id say head gasket too. What are your temps like?
  15. Agree with all the above. Pathetic attempt tbh. I find alot of car manufacturer design their range of cars to look very similar.
  16. Yeah thats exactly how mine were. They were slightly uneven too. To be honest i wouldnt worry about the writing being unclear... whos going notice nor care about that. Put the laquer on and get another pic up. Let me know what the finish is like once its fully dry. Mine came out feeling a little rough which ended up allowing dust from the brakes to set in the rough surface.
  17. I used the Wurth paint when i did my speedlines. They've lasted too, the problem ive had with the front wheels is that the carbon from the brakes has stuck easily to the wheel. Get some pics up when you've done the first one in silver.
  18. Are they new? How much do they lower by etc etc etc? From the small amount of research I've done it seems to be a good idea to avoid a company called 'GMax', however Weitec seem to be rated highly and they are about £250 in the UK, slo about £200ish over here in sunny Germany. In particular it seems to be the Weitec Ultra GT[/i] suspension kit - anyone used them? Bo! No, not new. Just replaced them with some v-maxx coilovers, they seem ok so far. Though harsher then the shocks and springs. The FK shocks and springs have been on the car for about 6 months. They lower the car upto 40mm there is 3-4 grooves on the rears to adjust, but the front are set at -40mm drop (no adjustment)
  19. I had to get a new one fitted although i had the standard (after factory) fitted alarm. Though when i took a new insurance policy out iwth adrian flux, one of the conditions was to get a new cat 1 alarm fitted because the old alarms fitted to rados, or cars of the same age, are no longer classed as a cat 1 due to their age. So bear that in mind. Not had one problem with my autowatch 8)
  20. £1200 isnt bad at all for that age and 1 years NCB... is that comprehensive insurance too not third party?
  21. Hi mate, I may have a set of FK springs and shockers for sale soon, if youre interested. Though, i am in the UK.
  22. To be honest i think that porka pulls off the colour... just. But, just the other day i saw a ford cougar in bright pink... that WAS gash! Whilst we're on the subject of the colour pink, WHY OH WHY girls feel the need to have pink fluffy dice, pink front and rear seat covers, pink steering wheel covers, pink 'princess on board' sign in the rear window AND sometimes pink fluffy cushions on the parcel shelf... i mean WHY... it looks completely idiotic and you look like a smeghead!
