Sometimes I just wish the C was a bit nippier :(

Well said that man, still slow though  In all fairness though i love mine, although the gearbox is beginning to feel its age! Look at it this way. They're slower so people have more time to look and gawp at it, as it goes passed ;) -
New engine so better not start drinking the oil  Cheers guy! 8)

5w-40 is fine, however Halfrauds own is pretty basic stuff and not really up to the job of fast road and track work. Look at a genuine synthetic such as the Silkolene Pro S and Motul, ideal for both road and track. Cheers Guy. Yes i also have the 5w-40 in my car at mo. Is this thick enough for summer?
-
Hi Oilman, A quick question. What grades does fully synthetic oil come in. I've recently changed my oil in my VR to synta gold, which is 5w - 40. I cant seem to find any other grade that fully synthetic oil comes in? Is it a case it doesnt need to come in any other grades because although its thinner then some semi - synthetics or mineral oils it can handle higher temps even though its only thin oil? Cheers Gaz

i hope that a 'new corrado' is never made, personally. If a new one came out it would make the original less special imo. I think the new scirocco is enough.

AAAARGH! Choosing my next car is impossible!

I think the best suggestion was what Marcus said. Why not revamp the rado, stick a more modern engine in it, but keep the corrado looks 8) Sounds like the best of both worlds to me. -
 OKKKK..... So forget the heat WRAP, lets talk about the stuff in the aerosol cans you can buy, better then wrapping? As it will allow expansion of the metal - or will this just flake off?
-
In really only wanting to keep the heat under the bonnet down tbh, but I cant justify spending £200. I would spend that amount getting it done if there was a huge difference between the coating and the fabric in regards to dealing with the heat. Not bothered about it being ss and painting it as youre not gonna see it much. Just want to keep the heat into it. I hear leaving it unwrapped is something you dont want to really do.
-
Yeah heard that myself too. Im considering getting some spray paint specifically for exhausts instead of the fabric wrap after ive just had a conversation with my mechanic - and it is a ss manifold. I bought the manifold for £160 (same ones they had at stanford hall on one of the stalls, if anyone saw them) but the ceramic + VAT and postage is looking more like £200.
-
Hi all, Ive gota 6 branch that either needs heat wrapping in one of the various fabrics you can buy. Or get the manifold sent off to be coated in ceramic. Now, can anyone tell me the advantage of getting the manifold coated over just wrapping it in fabric. I know the ceramic will last longer then the fabric, esp if it gets water or any other fluid on to the heat wrap fabric. Ive just got a quote for £150 +VAT and postage to get the manifold ceramically coated, which is 4-5x the price the fabric will cost. So should i hold out to get get it coated or just go buy some heat wrapping? Pros/Cons of each? apart from the price and how long it will last? Is it worth spending that much more on getting it coated in ceramic, or should i save my money cos there isnt that much of a difference when it comes to how each one handles the heat? Any opinions/advice/experiences welcome.

Sorted btw. Cheers guys! 8)

Cheers Kev, I had the geometry set up after the suspension was fitted. I can only say, as you already have, its the tyres. The tyres on the fronts are not that old, maybe 2-3 months. Still plenty of tread. I did change them for the rears to see if that made any difference - no it didnt. I'll stop being tight fisted and shell out for some top tyres next time and see if that helps. The steering is awful at the mo, if i go over a really bumpy surface the steering wheel goes from side to side, following every hump in the road. Id expext it to do it a bit if the road is really bad, but not that much. Even going down a road with only the odd lump, it still follows the lump. Oddly though, my rear n/s tyre is wearing badly on the inner edge. The rear o/s is ok as are the 2 fronts.... odd?

Yup, makes perfect sense. I wouldnt say my car was that low for it to be the bottom pic. I've only dropped it 40mm all round!? What symptoms would you get running your car like the bottom pic or even middle pic?
-
Going from memory (errr) if you remove the bottom panel of the dash under the glove box and maybe the glove box too. There's 2 relay next to the cylindrical part (not sure what it is) on the left. Thats IF they're the ones related to the ABS. Can someone else can shed some light?
-
If only everyone else who works for VW knew about this. If you go to most dealers and ask about the VR6 exhaust they'll tell you there's one part number and it's the full system, and that's that: drop the axle. ...in the hope you want them to fit it for you, probably.

Blimey - getting a 'nob' off a man in uniform? that's got to be the most emphatic chufty ever! ahem.
-
On Sunday I pulled off the motorway to head down stanford road towards the show. I had to stop at the lights just at the end of the slip road. I got a nob from one of those motorway maintenance officers. :D The wash and polish of the car wasnt for nothing then
-
Cheers Kev, That could explain my dodgy steering since i lowered the car by 40mm all round. The steering over bumps is terrible, doesnt ride/absorb them at all. It just seems to follow the bumps. So that could be down to the amount of lowering, if the wishbones are over the parallel to the ground, right/wrong?

Sorry to hear this as well dude :( Im sure at least one person would have got the reg no. if not part of the reg. along with colour and make (narrows it down). Surely he should get done for causing an accident and then leaving the scene?
-
Cheers
-
And where is it? DO you wedge it open whilst the rear brakes are bled or all the brakes?
-
Right bled the abs pump and master cylinder, brakes feel alot better, but still not as they should be. Though now i can get down to the garage. Will the baised valve need bleeding or anything?
-
Gonna give it a go at bleeding today. tbh the cars not drivable. The brakes only apply once the pedal is more or less on the floor.

Thanks!! :D
