  1. Johnny - the spacers were free. The place i bought the wheel from sent me them. they're hub centric, but the bolts go all the way through the spacer which are drilled at 5 x 100 and then into the disc. I also have 50mm long bolts - need longer locking nuts too though. for the record the wheels are Cades Eros, mine are 16" but are available in 15 and 17" all 6.5j Jake - Yes got 10mm spacers on the rear too. For some reason they didnt slide over the centre of the discs as easy as the front went over the hubs - needed some persuasion to go on. The tyres scrubs slightly over large bumps so i was going to run with out the rear spacers. But like you discovered the centre cap wouldnt go on. I didnt want to break it either so put the spacers on. Think im going to get a few mm shaved off them so they clear the arches more. have you just got 10mm spacers on the front? James - Yes my gf got me them for my birthday last year. I was tired of water dripping from the roof and into the car, when raining or using windscreen washers. Although this still occasionally happens in bad weather, it improved it. plus they look cool. Basically you slide the front edge in next to the mirror and bend them a bit to allow you to slide into the window. So tension keeps them in place, but the trailing edge is held with a small piece of double back tape But if you get some id get some more double back tape (trim tape) as they kept falling down.
  2. Welcome aboard. Car looks superb! :D
  3. Ok cool, let me know. Cheers
  4. Hi Rich, Im after the throttle lever damper. The piece the throttle comes to rest on, on the throttle body. If it still actually dampens the throttle lever i'll take that please
  5. Well today i took the isv off for cleaning, cleaned inlet pipe, adjusted throttle cable, checked the front engine mount - car still doesnt feel right when driving - see "off throttle jerk" thread. unfortunately it started to spit so have been unable to give the thing a clean - typical bank holiday weather. :( I also finally got round to fitting the new window rollers on the drivers side.
  6. Right an update. Cleaned ISV, cleaned all pipe work with carb cleaner. I also cleaned the throttle body in situ as one of the allen key bolts had rounded off enough to stop me getting it off - typically its the one hardest to get to. So at some point i'll have to take the inlet mani off to get to it and replace the not. I also checked the damper as suggested and i think that does need replacing as it doesnt cushion the throttle at all it just slams shut. So if anyone has one, i'll take it. To be honest, when i think there's 2 issues, the throttle slamming shut causing a jerk, but also the car just doesnt feel right to drive at the mo, putting the off throttle jerk to one side the car just seems juddery/lumpy in general and im not convinced its engine - it just doesnt ride very well. Its like a feeling of going down a cobbled street all the time, but not quite as extreme, its subtle - can worn top mounts cause?
  7. True. I think i was only looking at it from a UK perspective. Are VW abroad, such as the states the same with obsolete parts?
  8. I think a big factor is the fact the Corrado was deemed a failure and VW wanted this failure to die a quiet death. So were less keen on supplying parts long term compard to the Mk2 Golf for example.
  9. Hasan - luckily no ban in our area - not yet at least. Think its only the south thats affect at the mo. Im sure theres a possibility that could change. Best wash it before it does change, it hasnt been washed for a while so i will not be happy if they put a ban on before i do it. Abdul - thanks for the comment mate :D Jake - I didnt realise you had these too, you got them in silver also? Trust me the pics really do make the car look better than it is. You cant see the laquer peel on the bonnet in the bottom pic and only just in the top pic. Really need to tackle that, but i need to build up the courage to take sandpaper to the paint work. Got a few jobs that i need to tackle this summer - window rollers fitted to drivers door - done passenger door but never got round to the drivers. Re seat the passenger window scraper that i replaced. Needs seating better. sort laquer peel on the bonnet. get a bit of rust repairs on the passenger sill where it meets the front wing under the door. get front passenger wing rust repaired.
  10. Cheers Lucas. Yes im rather happy with them, worth the wait and trouble ive had getting them to fit. Car needs a damn good clean inside and out though - wash, clay bar, polish and wax is in order. Tomorrow im going to get the car on the ramps and take a look at the front engine mount first.
  11. There should be a hole in the decat for it i would have thought.
  12. As promised some pics of all of them on. Will get more tomorrow once its been washed and polised etc... weather depending

  14. I ran mine with quantum silver for the 500 miles, then switched to Gold - which is now something else. Never put mineral in it. besides the quantum silver isnt much more expensive to the Castrol mineral.
  15. Nice story and nice car. I can imagine VW stealing the car from your driveway in the middle of the night and burning it  NOW you HAVE to buy a new car muhahahaaaaaaaa
  16. Very impressive mate. Keep going, really looking forward to the end result. 8)
  17. Cheers Jamie, i'll get some pics up later. Yeah i put a bit of cloth over the nut before putting the socket over the top when i realised what had happened. didnt think of masking tape - cheers i'll do that too until i get a nylon sleeved socket. Ive found the Khumos seems to look rather good and dont really look stretched at all tbh, the rears scuff a little on large bumps but not too bad. A couple of millimetres off the rear spacers should sort that out.
  18. Really, cars really have no road life before being replaced with a couple of years... sad times.
  19. That looks awesome Jon. Are the wheels copied from something, they look nice?
  20. Arent the original shocks Bilsteins? This sounds like a standard shocks with lowered springs, which is a bad idea as you'll wear the shocks out in no time due to bottoming out. Need shorter shocks with lowering springs.
  21. what im trying to say is, if they samco last forever, is there really a problem. sure id rather the original OEM pipes still be available, especially for those who like standard. But if the samcos are available and they last years, its a good alternative.
  22. Do the samcos last forever, i mean longer than the orignal (17+ years)
  23. Well FINALLY got he wheel fitted. They look stunning and the arch gap isnt as bad as i first thought. One thing that has really wound me up is, when torquing the bolts up the socket has chipped a couple of the wheels around the bolt holes. Going to get some oil based paint and touch up these parts. But im annoyed its happened at all. Also, the rears scuff the arches a little when going over larger bumper/speed bumps, there's 10mm spacers on the back, need to get a bit machined off them. But not too much or the centre cap wont go on. Will get some pics up asap..camera battery was dead when i came to take pics.
  24. my VR is a 93 and inside the top plate isnt smooth??
