completely bog stock standard G-plate 1.8 valver, 3 owners from new, all from the same family. fsh. 166k no tax or mot. Overall in really good condition, leading edge of bonnet and wings being the worst, badly faded and a few stone chips. Little bit of bubbling on the tailgate (bottom left of window). Interior is near immaculate with only a little bit of sagging on the drivers bolster. ALL the electris work  Exhaust is blowing and i can almost scratch my ear with the handbrake :D Other than that its pretty much spot on. Noy had a chance to give it a good going over yet but well chuffed so far. Im going to try a bit of reverse pyschology here...normally when i get a new project i say ill keep it and...well dont. Sooooo....in no way whatsoever am i keeping this car...no way hosay 8) Big thanks to Nikki for giving me a lift to pick it up in the rain (cheers missus :D ) Will get some more pics when i get to see it in daylight. Thanks for looking Gav

VR to come out, leave gearbox in place? (or vice versa?)
peanut replied to Funkster's topic in Engine Bay
aye the engine will come out on its own leaving the box insitu, i just find it easier taking the d/shalfts off and undo the linkage Gav -
VR to come out, leave gearbox in place? (or vice versa?)
peanut replied to Funkster's topic in Engine Bay
its a tight fit but the engine and box can come out together at an angle without removing the front panel. Much easier though if the bonnet or front panel is removed Gav -
Came across this earlier, excellent detail with pics. Though it might be of use to some one. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1264409 If its a repost feel free to delete and slap me on the ass with a kipper

http://www.fieldmotorsport.com/ friend of mine is using them at the moment, not cheap but the quality is spot. Friend of mine in Norway had an modded rs2 engine built for him for his 20vurq and he cant praise them enough. Gav

much better on the jetta :D

bump please mr abraham

they will rub a bit more on yours mate as the vr runs a wider track than the others, 205/40 is a good size imo for a 9" as Jeff says. All depends how low you want to go really and the make of tyre your going for as each brand and tyre design has a different shoulder. Highly recommend the toyo t1-rs

does it sound like its coming from behind the dorr card chris? if so it might be where the window reg has come away from the rubber spacers Gav
-
what do you mean it doesnt work? is it just the ornage light coming up on the dash? if so, pull it out and take the bulb out for the mot. Gav

Right, rebuilt a 12v vr lump a couple of mths ago. New rings, rest of bottom end in excellent order so nothing else replaced on that. Head was rebuilt, new valve guides, exhaust valves, stem seals and tappets. New upper chain and plastic tensioner. Bolted it all back together and it rattled like a sticking hyd tappet, ran it for a few hundred miles on mineral then oil and filter change for synta silver. Still got the tappety noise. Seems to go away at higher revs but other that that its not cleared once. Other than a fecked new tappet any ideas? here are the possibilities ive thought- - shaged tappet - Blocked oil way (but where?) - Silicon residue blocking the oil way on the upper chain cover (from where the upper cover meets the lower cover) - Rear tesnioner (the big bolt that screws into the back off the head) needs replaced? its the original one Tired wynnes etc but made no difference, am i missing something obvious? dont really want to put the original tappets back in as one was sticking slightly and im not sure which one. Cheers for any help Gav

Right ive seen people use rado lights when doing doing rallye esque front ends on mk2's. Anyone ever used the elipsoid internals from the rallye light in a corrado headlight? been thinking this might facilitate the use of hids a bit more accessable Gav

For that sort of money itd really need to be minty mint with detailed history that reads like war and peace not just stamps in a service book Look at some of the corrados around at the moment for similar money, modded and standard theres quite a few to choose from. Do you want something you make more personal or just a bone stock mint example. I dont mean to be personal but it also depends on your finiancial situation. This isnt a question i want answered just for one to think about, are you maxing your financial limit to buy it or do you have funds to allow running cost if the worst should happen and it it gives you a few big garage bills? Each car is different and should be looked at individually on their own merits, you just need to decide what boxes you want ticked in your specific citeria HTH And by the way, Bills not really fatter than toad, its just water retention

toad your wrong, bills right. he has to be hes older and fatter   and yes you should have been breathing in for that pic fom players bill
