How longs a piece of string...? I have to admit to having no will-power, and being quite lazy. Or else it would probably be done by now. Personally it took me a few weeks to take everything off, i didnt know what i was doing, and labelled most things, aswell as having an organised shelf with lots of pots labelled "alternator", "driveshaft" etc. The rebuild out of the engine, again took a few weeks, but i was transferring all the ancillaries from one to the other, and trying to clean them up in the process. Once the engine was sat back in place, i was surprised as to how quickly it went back together - of course whether this is right, im yet to find out!! Its now down to the finer details, and this is taking some time, like finding where all the plugs go etc...and also, not being able to open my bonnet didnt help... Good preparation, like anything in life!, helps in the long run. And not having any bolts round off, or x-thread themselves helps too.

Finished this yet...?!

Only just seen these 'fresh' posts. I have done it all myself, bar a couple of hours work. The most interesting thing was dropping the engine back in the bay by myself...My mate who had agreed to help went on the p1ss the night before and wasnt moving anywhere, so i had to get it in by myself. Got the bonnet up now, so i can progress a bit more...lol.

WOHOO!! Its open! Once i found the actual bonnet release clips, rather than the random alarm clip, it was fairly easy. As my grill, and lights were off, i simply unclipped the pins, as pictured above (cheers 2_Door!) They were pretty stiff, but easy enough, to take off, and then put back on. So its done. Problem Solved. Thank you again!!! :notworthy:

:bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: Right, im prepared for the laughter, just aslong as i can get this fixed! Put my bonnet on the other day, and closed it before sorting the bonnet release. Didnt think it would be a problem, as my lights, and grill, and bumper are off, and i can get to the metal hook in the middle of the bonnet, but it appears it is stuck. Ive read the wiki article, and the only tip that relates is the final one, as the cable hasnt snapped. This is what ive got atm: and this im 99.9% sure is the offside release clip: Ive pulled, pushed, and twisted this little fecker, all to no avail. I also, cant even see where the pass side one is?! Ive even removed the plastic bit it advises you to do in the last wiki tip. Ive replaced a fricking engine, and this is the 2nd hardest thing ive had to do!!! Help before i use a sledgehammer to open the barsteward!! I dont know if to laugh or cry! :?: :? Nick

The What The Corrado Forum Did to my Triumph Today...

i have no idea what anybody is talking about........but PMSL! -
But it does go in there...?! And thank you for the 'nope'! I appreciated it!
-
Yep, the springs still in there, with a little cap on top. Everythings falls out if you were to tip it. When you say, "it shouldnt have been removed" have i fooked it...?! Rob_B Thank-you. I didnt even think of putting that bit in bewteen the wishbones, but it seems so obvious now. (doh) What bracket? Attached where at the front of the block?

Update - 1/09/2006 I thought i would enlighten the rest of the group as to what ive been up to recently, as without the help of this forum, i would be in trouble! So first of all....thank-you. From the bottom of my heart. :notworthy: May was not a good month. I had to replace my clutch at a cost of over £300, but had a VR6 one instead of a G60. I had to pay my car insurance, and then 2 weeks exactly after the clutch was replaced, the engine blew up, but in a rather subdued manor. I managed to coherse it into my garage, and that was that. After much umming and ahhing, i decided to tackle the task of replacing the engine by myself...despite absolutely, and catastrophically no experience what-so-ever. I have never even drained oil from a car.  I did this for 2 reasons. 1) I wanted to learn, and this seemed like a good enough oppotunity to me! 2) I was broke! So, i bought an engine from AndyCowUK, but literally the bare block, with inlet manifold. I had to strip down the car, get the old engine out, and transfer all the ancillaries from old to new. fun... Until finally i was left with this. (after a clean) Both engines... The swapping of parts progressed... ...Until i was left with this. So saturday 26th August i had a what you see above, and an empty bay. By monday 28th, it looked like this: And i have continued working hard, and this last pic was taken this morning. Im having a few issues with the finer details atm, as you my have guessed or seen, from my thread in 'engine bay', but as it stands, this is what i have left to do. Finish wiring - over half is done, theres just a few random ones. Sort bonnet opening, as its stuck atm! Charger, and water belt (i think) Collect little oil screw from vw. Work out how to do this bloody driveshaft. And then fire her up (in theory) to tweak the problems i will have caused, by putting things in the wrong place (god i hope theres not many!) Thank you for reading. As i said, i wouldnt have even contemplated starting this, if it wasnt for this forum. Not only have you all helped me fix my car, but also improved my self-confidence, and taught me new skills. For that, i am grateful. Nick

If anyone is interested, this is the lead i got, although i cant vouch if it works yet, as my car is still in bits. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=31700&criteria=phono%20to%20jack&doy=17m8

What colour is that...?!
-
Yes they are...13mm and 17mm i think. I Thank you. I re-did the driveshaft on wed, but it still didnt work, and i ended up doing my shoulder a mischief :x , and having to have yesterday off. The rubber pipe im holding by the TB, goes across the top of the engine, and over to the other side. does it definately go on the bit i arrowed to? The reason i ask, is because i found another rubber pipe, in near enough the same position, and i dont know where that one goes.  I have some more questions...yipee-do Does this go in here...? The pipe im holding goes all the way through to the other side of the engine, near the bottles. (it seems the only place it can go) Where does this go? V V V V V V Where the feck does this go? Finally I have this: Which i have been placing on the top of this (where red arrow points), and then threading the bolts through from below (as illustrated with the blue line) Im sure this was how they were removed, but as a mate did this bit, im not sure. I tried yesterday, but no matter how hard i tried, the bolt didnt seem to be long enough! Again any help muchos appreciated. :notworthy:

Nope, i got a lead that plugs into the back of my headunit, which i then routed behind the dash and to the centre console where ill keep my ipod.

Is plastic really heat resistant...?
-
errr...http://www.dubmodder.com...? All your problems solved!
-
Could someone take a look at their charger, and tell me if the armoured pipe pictured connects to the charger, closer to the rad, or closer to the airbox (or where the airbox should be)
-
Cheers so far guys. Biggrim, do you mean the metal one, or the rubber one. I think you mean the metal one, as its quite long. The rubber one, might be long, but it dissapears along the firewall, and i havent looked where it finishes.
