Performance figures....well f**k me they make a differance BIG power on flick of a switch, im running 75 bhp jets at mo and havent played with it anymore cos im just gone over a roundabout ,not round it like normal people !!! Its reliable to,dont listen to " my manifold welds broke" :? holed pistons ect ect. All rubish if its set up right it will blow you away If you want more info just mail me and ill send many links Cheers James With bent Vr6 :(

Ive been running Wizard kit on my VR for a year now with no problems at all and still puring at 135k ,running 50 jets at mo,timming is not an big issue, myne is advanced with a superchip(which is a big no no ?!!)when its supposed to be retarded to stop pre-detonation,progressive controllers are good when running over the 100 bhp mark and can always be added at later date. Kits are SO EASY to fit ,you get instructions to do so,whether you have machanical knowlage or not ..... More than likley the budget kits you buy will be wet rather than dry,and IGNORE the myth leading around n.o.s kits, pistons melting ,manifold bla bla .......rubish Wizard kits have a good build quality and good to talk to. What does this red button dooooooooo...........................................>>>> Cheers James Ive yet not come across insurers how will touch N.O.S

Hello All To replace the Chain guides is a box out job, only one guide can be got at from top, but the guide that wears(the one that causes noise) is the one the hydrolic tensioner pushes against and wears out on top edge due to the shape of it !!(replacment ones are bent more and the material is harder wearing) This guide is held on by a bolt which the lower cover sits over, thus box out !! All in all arse of a job :( Dont u love VR's :D Cheers James

Hello all Ive seen cam belts driping in oil from blowen cam ,crank seals and nothing happend.Snapping belts will happen due to poor adjustment and age ,the likley hood of the cam belt jumping a tooth(due to oil) is very, very low. Which belt are we on about? :? i asume fan belt(charger belt) not cam? Cheers James :)
-
Hello again This works ..... while car is running drip a couple oil drops onto belt, yes engine oil  ,I work for a garage and have always done this to stop belts squeeling it dosent slip ,the oil soaks into the belt and softens the rubber . Trust me whats the worst that can happen :D
-
Same happened to myne so went to breakers and got strippes of passat ,they were 3 inches to long and a little trim and hey presto !! Cost me 4 quid for both :D , sod paying 100 quid plus
-
Hi there Its more likely hydrolic tappets are worn, thats what causes the tractor sounds as the oil pressure builds up they fill the hydrolics and take up slack .Change your belts for new ,the more time they are on the harder they get and tend to squeek or yes lubricants do work to soften the rubber on the belts Cheers James :D

Hello there all Ive doen quite a bit of work on high milage VR6 units and the engine are built well but top cam chain guides do wear without you knowing ,they wont make a noise that would alarm you and due to the 15 degree V cylinder and shallow pistons ,bore wear happens prematurely on the thrust side which makes a light knocking noise when cold and putting load on engine, when the engine warms up the noise fads away and yes the vr will still pump out loads of power! The VR units are built well but like all engines will wear(even with full VWSH ! ) Make sure all the electrics work !!! Sunroof(prone to screw up),windows, mirrors, rear spoiler(also at speed--- 60mph it comes up) Check that ABS light goes off after start up. Then do the usual checks ,tyres pannel alignment etc Then Buy with your head not your heart do HPI !!!! VR's are worth the chew on and reward you with one cracking drive  Cheers James :D

Hi Joe The problem you discribed is so identical to myne and a friends ,we thought on the same lines as yourself and explored wiring faults ,ignition, crap fuel ect but untill we tried a fuel pressure gauge on it and took it down the road the problem started and the fuel pressure droped ! went to VW to buy a lift pump and found out it was on the shelf cos they sold loads of them !! But if you have a new one it wont hurt to try :D Cheers James

Hi there there are three temp switches on gearbox side of head one of them controlles the idle vale(go to vw for which one) go get new one and replace it before replacing idle valves ect this is simple but works. If no luck clean out idle valve with brake cleaner. Cheers James -
