  1. thats where i get a bit stuck, all the plates with my initals on the DVLA website are all post J plate, and other places they are going for silly money (initals are AJB) Not overly sure about car specific, as like you say if it gets sold then the reg makes no sense!! think i would go with a DUB type plate rather than a G60 plate if i did go that way. Its not something im going to rush into getting, so thought id ask for your guys opinions and suggestions! so if anyone does come accross something that looks decent then let me know!
  2. Today i got given a £1,000 cheque together with £500 of premium bonds as a present 'from' my late Grandpa. with that i would like to buy a couple of things that as momentos. I have always thought about a personalised registration so am thinking of using some of the money for one, but cant really decided!! dont want to spend silly money, and would like to keep the 'J' plate, but not essential! My favorites so far are: J700 DUB J900 DUB J60 AVW (not quite G60 but close!!) J90 BRB (quite poignant as Grandpas initals are/were BRB and he was 90 when he died) C3 RDO (possibly slightly out of price range though) J666 GGO (-edit-) Any thoughts or other suggestions??? Cheers Andy
  3. you sure its not coz your putting your right foot on the pedal a bit harder?? That tends to make my speedo needle go from 80 to 100+ every now and then
  4. When mine went i had no 'mayo' under the oil cap. I had exhaust gasses in the coolant, and it kept blowing holes in pipes and eventually the radiator. No loss in performance at all, still pulled like a train, just kept losing coolant (stupidly i put it down to old knackered pipes and fittings!) Easiest thing to do is to take it to a garage for a compression test, just for peace of mind!! My advice though is to forget the car, hit the beer/whisky/vodka/wine and have a good christmas! Andy
  5. I would love to say its doddle, just take the wheel off, take off the caliper, remove dust cover and bolt holding disc on, take to shop to get old bearing removed and new one pressed in, refitting is a reversal of removal and job done! BUT when i did mine the other week it wasnt quite that easy!! Getting the caliper off was an arse as the bolts were damn tight (advise, jack car up locate allen key in bolt, and slide wheel brace over the end for leverage and PULL!) i also had a problem that a race had jammed on the stub axle and had to be ground off - wouldnt think it would be too commen though. Unlike the fronts the bearings are in the brake disc and not the hub! The garage i took my disc to to have the bearing pressed in to didnt want anything to do it, but threw them a fiver anyway. It really should by a relatively quick job and car shouldnt need to be in bits for more than a day! Cost is mimimal, bearing is £10 (give or take) from GSF - mine ended up costing all of 11p! Best of luck, and if you have any problems get in touch with goldie and Toad to help
  6. lol, just replied to your other thread!! drop me a PM, im sure we can get a chain sorted!
  7. sorry to hear bout the car! If you were stationary when he hit you then there its his fault, but if its just your word against his it could get awkward! Drop me a PM bout the bonnet in fareham and ill see what i can do to help!

  15. Any thoughts as to where i can get a bearing pressed in on a saturday afternoon? And any idea about getting the caliper off??? bolts are stuck like a good un!
  16. Just taken the wheel off, tried to spin the disc, and the whole thing wobbles! have checked with GSF and they have them on the shelf. Anyone think of anything else i need? Have caliper and bearing at GSF, have a disk in the garage so will probabaly put that on while im/were at it!
  17. You have PM! thinking the more help the better!

  19. Postcode is PO3 6FH, just off the Eastern Road by the looks of it, just to be in Paulsgrove opposite king Richards School but moved recently.
  20. Ah cheers! Feel free to pop over (i also need to get to GSF to get the new caliper!!) as some help will be better than no help! also if its not sorted saturday then there wil be no bbq sunday......
  21. have ordered the part form GSF - £54 plus vat! but a £30 surcharge on the old caliper, so not so bad! Question, does anyone have a guide for changing the calipers? I take that when i take the caliper off it will effectively drain the brake fluid, so i will need to refill with Dot 5.1 (right?) and bleed them - probabaly stupid question, but how? Cheers
  22. Sorry to hear this Andy. I agree with alot of the guys here, first port of call should be a solicitor to get some advice as to where you stand when it comes to having sight of the will. Assuming you are entitled to, then you should at least see the will, that way you can see that your dads wishes have been kept as far as his estate is concerned. Double-6s does have a point, It's all about you now Andy. I think you should do whatever YOU think is right. - if YOU feel that you woudl be best off following your dads lead, then thats what you should do.
  23. Will GSF do for it? And in that case, could anyone give a hand fitting saturday if i can get one?? (im ok with a spanner, but not confident enough to mess around with things like brakes!)
