you guys are great!!! dinkus....i'm not the biggest fan of the americans but i thought this would be an interesting thread to start... 8) chrishill....when i say modded i mean a car that has been modified to increase performance from it's standard form....so you can't compare a CSL or FQ400 to a factory vette or viper....

chrishill........ .4 secs in the car world IS quite a difference....may not seem like that much but that's at least 2 car lengths...

ok...hold on!!!! you can NOT compare a modded car to a factory one!! an M3 CSL is a light weight edtion of the M3...i can give you stats of modded Vettes and Vipers and would leave ANY of those cars a long way back....and on another note.....i do like Top Gear but I find they have a bias towards anything that comes from America.....

dinkus...i disagree...a Vette or Viper would walk an EVO on any road ....the age old argument that American sports cars don't handle as well as their European or Japanese counterparts is long over....maybe back in the 80's that argument would work but not nowadays

on a side note....i've had the pleasure of driving a couple of Skylines...amazing car.....however the main reason Nissan does not export the car to the U.S market is the Skyline DOES NOT stand a chance compared to other cars in it's class in the U.S...Viper, Corvette etc.....

HKS- American company Greddy- American company Jackson racing - American Schrick- American EIP- Amercian Mopar- American Koni sells more suspension components in the US and all other countries combined. Eibach- America being their biggest market Just to name a few.....

Dinkus...i disagee...yes the yanks have the 1/4 world nailed...they also have the "twisty roads" nailed as well......there are plently on short course tracks in the U.S...their just not as popular...

ok...another example....my last car was a MK2 G60.....i had as issue with the FMIC which i needed to replace.....i couldn't believe the prices I was being quoted....even for a used FMIC people wanted £300!!!! i can get an HKS intercooler with piping for the same price in NA!!

ok...an example......if you go the California to an "import 1/4 track".....the average street car is running anywhere from 11-12 sec 1/4 times....i've never seen that in the UK...

as opposed to Ford, GM and Crysler which are considered domestic....

oh sorry....in North America all Honda/Acura's VW...anythiing imported from over seas is considered an import....hence import performance....

I usually put my car on blocks...this keeps the weight off the suspension. I start the car every couple of weeks and let it run for 20-30 mins.. but the biggest thing is the keep the area dry...place a large bag of salt in the garage to keep the moisture level down..

Usual day at work and just got into a heated discussion on import performance with a co-worker... :) My question; why is the UK so far behind when it comes to import performance??? His responce; what are you talking about??? My response; are you serious??? Curious too see your guys opinion
