  1. Bloody awsome mate!!! really cool to see someone with the balls to just crack on with it and have ago them selves!! :D
  2. this happened to mine ages ago, it was the fuse. (under the steering colum although not sure what the number was, should be info on here.) if it's the fuse it's a 30 second fix, fuse is like 50p. hope that helps. :)
  3. Hey Lee welcome to da forum!! I had the same problem about a year ago, there is a load of info on here if you do a search. I started off thinking i would let my local vag specialist do it for me but to save a bit of time and money i took out a load of dash bits for them so i wasn't paying them to just unscrew things. When i took it to the garage, they reckoned that i was almost there and might as well carry on!! So i did and it saved me a few hundred quid!! So have a go even if you get stuck you can get a garage to finish it off i guess. As mentioned it's not difficult just fidely and time consuming, i did it with the dash in (even though a good part of it came out!!) I would say that removing the pasenger seat will help, as then you can lie on ya back to reach up behind the dash, or just get a small child with little hands!! good luck.... :)
  4. welcome welcome :D i took mine off with plenty of heat to melt the adhesive (used a hair dryer). Start from one end, heat a bit then gently pull back (may need something like a plastic scraper just to get it going or maybe something like a cheese wire) then heat the next section and pull etc etc. just go slowly. Then clean the glue residue off, lots of products out there. Give it a polish and hey looks loads better!!! as said above though, the strip could hide a join line if your car has had bits of paint in the past....
  5. nice, grey is good!!! Looks like the grey i've got which is 'storm grey'
  6. V-nice car mate :D local to, look forward to seeing this one around, you on TidyVag ? I've been to a couple of their meets in Poole which are ok, good to see some nice cars, might see you at one when i get mine a bit more sorted and the sun comes out....
  7. well ya can get clear powder coat, usualy added on top of another colour powder coat to give a gloss finish. As i understand (might be wrong here), it needs the previous layer of powder coat to bond to properly. basicaly anything high polished is gonna be a total b!£h for a coating to stick to so just be reallistic, some coatings may last a short while but probably not gonna be permenant. Having said that i have also heard good things about the Frost's stuff mentioned above, worth a trial......
  8. Hi Alex, it's Laurence (gave ya a lift after you locked yourself out!!!) Car looks cool now mate, it's a mean badboy. Keep seeing it parked up outside ya house, looked filthy over christmas, mine to, it's those bloody quarries and farms around here, driving me nuts at the moment!!! Work on mine is gonna start in the next couple of months, suspension and a bit or maybe a lot of paint! just waiting till i get a new van so the raddo can live in the nice warm/dry garage during the week :) Wouldn't mind a ride in yours at some point to check out ya coilovers, send me a pm if ya up for it one weekend c ya around mate.
  9. Mate!!! This thing just gets better and better, niiiiice Wheels look great, although 9 1/2 on the back must be a bit of a squeeze, rubbing? Only thing i'm not sure about is the roof, i think ya need to loose the flag, only my opinion but i think it cheepens the look, thats not to say it was cheep to do !! definately smooth the roof, i'm thinking about it, whould like to see you have ago first though... The stone chips look crazy, obviously driving within the law on ya ring trip.....
  10. Car; VR6 Sysyem; Magnex Cat back (oval tailpipe, very O.E. but better, really tidies the back up) Me thinks; Really pleased, when i put it on i could'nt tell that it was any louder at tick over than the original (although maybe the original had got louder. was pretty kackered!). It is a little louder under load than original, and certainly louder than original when you boot it, but in a good way and not a chavy nova kinda way. on the motorway it's just fine, not droany/boomy, hardly notice it. I was worried about noise when i bought it as i had a Scorpion back box on my old 2.0 16V which was terible, really noisy, awfull fit etc :( But the Magnex fits brilliantly :D
  11. mate, can't help on the tech stuff but i think i may have seen this? is it blue? I've driven past a blue one a few times, layed up in the poole are, and tbh not the best area of poole if ya know what i mean...if it is this one it has currently got a load of stuff crammed in the back of it and is looking a tad sorry for it's self, will have to be a real bargain to justify the journey if we are talking about the same one...? i bought my first rado (2.0 16V) cheap and it turned into a real money pit....
  12. Mate, looks awsome, one of the niceest on here, i want it!!!!
  13. looks really clean mate, nice, just needs a freshen at the back - definately a new plate and maybe something for the rear lights, made a massive difference to mine and not too costly. :?
  14. mate what thickness wheel adaptors have you got on there? Also did you have all the arches rolled or just the fronts? Any rubbing probs? it looks pretty low, don't think i'll be able to get mine quite as low when the time comes due to living down a bumpy track, bloody pot holes!!
  15. mate, just checked out your thread, awsome! the car looks great, you must be feeling pretty pleased with yourself :salute: :salute:
  16. Looks like a bargain, especially if the miles are genuine, there is a guide on here about fixing elec' mirrors in the knowledge base.
  17. cool photos, your motor is looking ace mike, definately one of my fave's on here.
  18. PHAT!! and oem at the same time, love it, good work.
  19. Ended up doing this myself...... All done now, pain to do but got there in the end. cheers for all the advice, Laurence.
  20. Richard, Finished mine yesterday, took bloody ages!, really awkward with big hands! Anyway it seems to be working fine and i've probably saved a few hundred quid by doing it myself. My new matrix actually came with a sheet of 3mm foam just big enough to re-cover the flaps in the heater box, mine hadn't disintegrated badly but i fugured that as it was out i may as well do the job properly! I did't replace the bowden cables as they seemed fine, just gave them and all the moving parts a good lube. Now just waiting for the carpet to dry out, got a de-humidifier running in the car, should suck it all out! Thanks to you and everyone else for their advice :)
