Hi all. As it sez. Going for new crank bearings plus a new oil pump and cap bolts in the Yellow G60. A question... Is there really such a thing as a high pressure oil pump Ie higher than OE a tuned car pump if you like. If so where does one exchange cash for product. Also are standard VW cap bolts OK I read on the forum pages that the originals are streeetch variety and not to be reused.. Any other pointers will be most welcome.. Fitted oil pumps to Corrado's and Golfs before so nothing to worry about there aside from the dam sump bolts always wanting to cross thread :mad2: Ta Muchly

Hi all. I have a few cars but its time to bring the Leon back to life.. 6 months back lost a valve.. It buried its self in the piston crown and stopped teh engine dead..Acted like a wedge splitting the piston.. Nice....Got some pictures will have to upload em. Anyhow I need to bring teh car back to life. So.... It has a AHF engine will a ASV engine fit it.. The injectors are off the pump not rail mounted. Looking on Wikipedia the engines seem listed together?? Anybody on here a diesel god. Ta muchly :salute:

G60 Still trouble now testing the injectors with meter
2_Door_fun replied to 2_Door_fun's topic in Engine Bay
Well I'm still having terrible time with the old yellow peril. Again starts perfectly first thing and runs a treat but will not start a 2nd time.. I have pulled my injectors and tested em with a Fluke Multimeter.. In the Bentley it sez that the injectors should be between 15 - 20 Ohms each. Upon checking all my injectors are running between 15.5 - 15.9 Ohms... What do you think is that cutting things a little fine.. I'll have a loom test later tonight when I borrow the meter tonight.. Measured the injectors on the test bench at work. -

Hi to all and thanks for the support so far. My spare ISV operates fine it hums and so on so all is well there. After having my kids for the week and my 7 year old son saying 'are you ever going to drive the yellow car dad' Its time to get this machine rolling again... So an interesting thing happened last evening. The car wouldn't start full stop. So after a bit of engine bay prodding I realized that upon turning the key I didn't hear the fuel pump hum.. I dropped the fuse panel and checked there and all was in good order, I turn the key and listen no hum and no 2nd click of the relay.... Sp I am wondering if my pump was the problem all along and its finally died. So I check at the rail there is no fuel in the rail well barley a dribble. I removed the FPR and stuff and also spun the delivery hose off the FPR and still got no fuel from the tank. I assume that its a good enough check to see if teh pump isn't working.. Considering I have a pair of new fuel relays last week. My pump is in the tank under the panel in the boot... I presume I have the single pump setup on a 1991 G60. Cheers Rob -
I have.. I'll shoot some for you this weekend.. Rob

Right then.. New VW Blue Temp Sensor fitted car started superb but no start again... Ticked at 800 and sat there rock solid. oil at 50 and turned it off went for a re-start and nope just the same  I now have a Bentley and was reading about the ISV.. It sez the on turn of the key the ISV should 'Hum and Vibrate' Also should be between 2 and 10 Ohms across the terminals with a multimeter. I have a spare ISV and during lunch I checked it with a meter its running at 4.8 so that seems OK.. No idea if it hums n vibrates but I'll try it tonight. I was wondering if others are humming n stuff? I noticed that the current ISV just goes click click click when I try to start the car a 2nd time. maybe this is the problem. I was wondering what does the Fuel Pressure switch do? -
Cheers bud.. Always helps to have a willing lady in yr life to pose... :norty: done many of em some printed well big on canvas n stuff. Pleanty of poses :censored: Cheers Rob

Greetings, Yr car is over fueling on start as is my G60.. It also revs 2000 on start up holds and then settles back.. Only prob is I can't get it to start twice in a row so can't use it. Yes it stinks of fuel and teh plugs and bores are swimming in fuel.. Weird :cuckoo: I have so far replaced Fuel pump relay and the fuel pump retardation relay and for good measure the ECU relay. It has improved much and now Starts and ticks over a treat at 750. Still no 2nd start so getting an original VW Blue Temp Sensor from the Dealers tomorrow. Link to my post here Click So as I have been told sort out the basics first... I'm not up on the 16v engine but others will be. Rob

G60 Still trouble now testing the injectors with meter

Greetings to Yan of the Yards. Have checked my replacement VAG BTS this morning.. Rather the technical engineers have up in service where I work. All is well so I'll swap out the pattern model I have in at the moment. Also swapped out my TB Micro Switches last evening for the spare set. On the original set the first switch was missing the ball bearing so I resume the throttle cam lever was not able to press it to click levels. Pulled my plugs again last night soaking they were so as soon as this problem is resolved it will have to be an oil n filter change I reckon. All had a spark though so that's one good sign. My car still has all the carbon canister present.. Could this pos cause any probs? Cheers all for the help it is as ever appreciated. Rob -

hmmmm I did replace the BTS a while back and yes it was a pattern part from my local place. Will set about the stealers on Monday. Riley... Cheers for the pointer on the microswitch setup on the TB. I do have a spare set.. What I never actually understod about that setup is the way the tickover switch is mounted the actual armature on the Throttle cable cam can't sctually press it  The switch is ever so slightly set back on the mounting palte???? So the lever never gets to press it so it clicks. Cheers Rob -
As it sez on the tin! My lovely Nugget 60 (91 on a J) just won't play. past her MOT in Jan and now she won't start or rather she will but then won't again. Turn the key the engine fires and away it goes, Revs climb a bit sharpish on start as high as 2K but then drop back and she ticks over fine. You can go out and rag the nuts of the engine and all is fine but turn it of and try again there is a cough and an attempt to fire but then that is it. After that all you get is the engine turning and no attempt to kick at all. Plugs are wet change the plugs and she fires up again? Why or where will the over-fueling be coming from. Bits n Bobs done so far include: New Starter Motor as that was needed New Throttle cable VAG original All 4 injectors removed and cleaned New Injector loom (Original was past its best) Blue temp sensor ECU rely New Dizzy (That was also needed) Not an original part Tested with a 2nd ECU that I have spare and it is def good Fuel pump relay (Fitted last night) Fuel pump retardation Relay (Fitted last night) Also tried a 2nd CO pot to no avail Prob think of some more later on.. Sore head at moment after last nights home brew testing  Cheers all Rob

Hi bud. On my 91 g60 it sits above the main relay bank. Kind of in an add on module that is guarded by a 20amp fuse. Its twice the size of a normal relay with 90 printed on it. Bascally i'm looking in to the same idea that Supercharged has posted earlier on in the chat..Making sure the fuel pump is not running on whilst engine off. However for yr VR it may or may not have 1. The technician at the dealers said that he is actually the last person at the dealership to have actual worked on Corrado's. He said that particular retardation relay is only fitted to the PG engine that the 60 has. He also said that he has worked on G60's with fueling problems and it has more often than not its a damaged ECU.. Usually from jumpstarting the car.. Happy to help Cheers Rob

Hmm Interesting. The G60 is my weekend car and many probs of late. My 60 will start perfect but then won't start again.. Once a day really. Pulled the plugs and they are soaked. Change the plugs and she starts. So today I ordered a Fuel pump retardation relay. As I had to lever the old one out as it had bent pins so maybe its been a problem to previous owner. This stops the pump running on after engine stop. By the looks of the plugs and the smell the bores must be full of fuel. Maybe you could try the Retardation Relay...Bit pricey though near £30 :censored: Also fitted a new ECU relay just for good measure . Also when she wont start after a good run Ie. engine hot or warm what ever at times the ISV is click click click in rapid sucession as I try to crank the car. Everythig turns over fine but no effor from the engine to fire. If I leave the key in running position this is where the ISV is rapidly clicking. Food for thought...

Hi bud. ABS....I wish haha no it a 1991 G60 so its a go-cart lol. Part No? No not at this time but I'll have a look for you this week. The car is in Storage at uncles place for Winter. I ws up there ysterday new throttle cable, Bonnet Cable n a few bits n bobs. the car fails MOT on.... Loose Allen key bolt on Momo Steering wheel. Drivers headlamp out of aim and a cip missing from Stering rack gaitor!!! It certainley is in their interests these days to fail your car.. Catch you in the week will have a look for the part No. As a thought I do have a SEAT 23mm master cylinder in the shed but the fittings are bigger. You would need to put new nipples on the end of your lines or get some sort of conversion kit for it. The Audi is a straight swap and works superb with the 4 pot calipers.

Read my post 2nd on the first page. Shows many links on how to do this MOD. I have just fited 4 pot Brembos on the G60. There is a link on my fitting shows how close my calipers are from the inner wheel edge. The usual space allowance is 2

Cheers Dec.. I have just done a bit of a search and yep correct you are. Can't belive my luck to request a mech and get a early euro fit 16V adaption only fitted by dealers. :cuckoo: Oh well I'll have to send it back n get the version I want..Way to much messing about to try n fit that bit of kit. Cheeers bud

HI. Another G60 fan problem.... belive me the forum is full of em.. I have just removed my stock item as it will just not come on..Works fine when Earthed and works fine with a manual switch on the dash..So deduced that it could be a an actual fan problem..I changed to a Spal fan and still the problem perists  Again it works fine with the manual switch.. My run on for cooling under bonnet temps after ignition is turned off does not work either.. The run on circuit is linked via a Relay but from my knowledge this does not interact with the actual rad fan operation. The running operation is controlled via nothing more than voltage and the rad mounted thermo switch.... What or where is the big black module you speak of ! later C's had Relays or a control unit mounted up by the radiator resevoir..Early G60's do not have these relays.. All I could suggest is that the actual small loom the connects the rad and switch to the power supply is weak and a new one is needed.. This ill be my next purchase... let us know if you get any where with it. Cheers Rob
