There are a lot of C owners out there that unfortunately do share the passion for the car but are not very sociable about the matter. I've met and spoke to quite a few in this area that have never heard of the corrado.net and give me quite odd looks when i ask them if they would be interested in participating in any of the meets or joining the forum. Mind you ....it can be quite a worry sometimes if you return to your car to find someone peering through the windows etc...lol

I should be able to sort it myself.....just wanted to know if the shield is a normal fixture
-
Does nobody else have one fitted to their C then ~?
-
Hi chaps I notice there is a heat shield fitted on the back of my C just above the rear exhaust silencer. Is this standard? Only it seems to be loose and rattles about. I assume it's there to shield the petrol tank from heat .....has anyone discarded theirs?
-
and it's never been in an accident? Can't answer that one for definate but i have seen quite few h'reg models with later bonnets. I'de rest my money on the reason being that VW used whatever panels they had during the swap from non facelift to facelift.....as most other manufacturers do. In regards to my C .....i'de agree it's had a front end repair at some time....but it still raises the point that any C could have either bonnet....crash repair or not.
-
hmmm ...i have a H'reg and it has a late bonnet and wings......just to throw a spanner in your theory
-
Yes the bonnet can be adjusted by the bolts that hold it to the hinges......you may also need to adjust the closing pegs so it sits correctly at the front edge when closed. if nothing matches up even after you have adjusted the body panels then it will be time to get the tape measure out and check the chassis
-
If you read the previous posts chaps you'll see that he's had the car repaired.......even so.....it's quite a horror story if you ask me
-
My advice to anyone.....regardless if you know anything about cars or not ......is to always stay and observe whilst an MOT is being carried out on your car. A couple of years ago an MOT'er almost drove my Nissan off the ramp whilst it was still in the air....if i hadn't been there to scream at him to stop.....he got a little confused coz it has an Auto box .....or so he said.
-
Yes it is supposed to be that tight .....try standing on the breaker bar or failing that get a strong bar and a lump hammer......you'll need a big torque wrench to tighten the nut back up though when re-assembling
-
The sides of the front bumper are sticking out coz the bumper was backed into by someone
-
I think this was something done during the change over period between the early and late designs - I say this as I know some have managed to put a late grill on early cars with out having to modify tabs etc... How did the late grill sit on yours? If it was flush with the h/lights then I'd be guessing that you have late lamps... A pic would help tbh... edited

I'm wondering if the front end has been replaced at some time in the past. The grill that was already fitted was a 3 slat, curved with no badges. There also appears to be 6 slots in the bottom panel for various types of lower grill mountings
-
I bought this front grill off egay but it doesn't fit my C correctly http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1 It doesn't seem to be big enough in height to fill the space and it is not curved along it's width so it doesn't sit snuggly against the headlight edges. My C is a H reg which i would have thought the early grill would have fitted.

these are the possibilities..... blown headgasket cracked cylinder head cracked cylinder block Faulty expansion tank cap Faulty thermostat or air lock in the cooling system somewhere I've found that a common reason for the temp guage to read low is because the two wires to the two coolent sensors are connected the wrong way round. However.....from what you describe.....may well be headgasket failure
-
There are the two you mention and also one on either side that the ends of the bumper slide into
-
Do the brackets seperate from the bumper? In Etka it doesn't really show how they are mounted to the bumper.
-
Is that a colour tint on the photos or are you stripping the whole car back to the metal?
-
My front bumper on my C has been pushed back due to someone backing into my car. Do i need to change the whole bumper to correct it's positioning or can i just change all four brackets?
-
Is the car fitted with an uprated headlight loom? If so ....one of the spade connectors could have come undone

If it's rubbing then one of your pulleys must be warped.....or.... idle pulley bearings naffed .....or.... crank pulley is loose. -
Which size engine?
-
The head will be taken away to another local company to be skimmed....garages don't skim the heads themselves......so i assume your garage would be waiting for it's return. Don't fret too much ..... you are not alone ......my engine is in bits as well
