  1. Haha! That's cool in an odd sort of way. Beats cleaning the whole car anyway
  2. Forgot about those ones, I had a guy calling up offering £3000. I reminded him it's up for £3900, and I'm prepared to haggle but not that much. He never said it's overpriced, but I told him it's 100% definately the cheapest of it's sort in the thames valley auto trader. I can't stand that. I'm all for a bit of dealing, hence putting ONO on the ad, but why haggle before you've even seen the car! I agreed £3600 with him, but he never called back. You know otherwise he'll arrive and "oh, that looks like a scratch to me (magnifying glass out), knock off £100", or "oh, I wanted a red one, knock off £1000". Some people, eh. I originally planned to try and P/x it for an alfa 156 as a daily, which would've been straight forward enough, but now the C's working, I just want the cash so I can get sky HD, and tuck some money away for a PS3!
  3.   How annoying is this. I've been trying to sell my Rover for 3-4 weeks now, first person who actually wanted to come and look at it has done a no show, made me wait in all morning, no calls, nothing. Just rude. Selling cars is a big fat pain in the backside, if it's not cardata constantly trying to rob me blind, it's people asking dumb questions or not showing up! Why not just call and say "sorry, I've changed my mind". It's not like I'm gonna start shouting or crying down the phone, and it saves a lot of hassle. Rant over.
  4. Superb news, Lets hope they sting the pikey cnut for a few other crimes too, lock him up for a while. trouble is coz he didn't steal anything he'll probably just get an ASBO to boast about or something. Good work by the rozzers though!
  5. Ooh, those diamond cut ones look beautiful! I'm a big fan of standard speedlines, but there's nout wrong with playing about! If it wasn't for the fact i've just spent £200 getting all mine refurbed, I'd be seriously considering these ideas. Fla, Sorry, haven't got a side view of my car (I'm too arty farty when it comes to taking pictures!). Also, lowering on photoshop really my forte I'm afraid, never been able to do it right! If you, or anyone else for that matter has a side on view, I'm happy to give it a go though, always a good time to learn
  6. OK. Don't have much time so just did some quick ones on my car. They're not polished, but you get the idea. Wasn't sure whether you wanted black centres only, or black spokes, so I did both. I think the black centres looks a bit naff on these personally, mainly because of the size. The centre/spokes in black looks 8) though. it's one of my favorite styles, though again, polished rims would look better. P.S. I fitted the auto selector trim, looks good! thanks!
  7. Hmmm, I like your thinking. Give me a sec and I'll do a quick photoshop.
  8. That's annoying. I didn't realise they were actually making the tiguan, I thought it was just a hideous concept car. Lets hope that gets forgotten about. Shame about the rocco and passat coupe though, I think it's fair to say VW is almost trying to loose the flair they had in the past.
  9. Hey, I never thought the leather handbrake handle would be reasonable, usually with VW, as soon as they put the word "leather" into the system, it instantly adds £200  Might have to get one on order, mine's looking pretty pants at the mo. Good work.
  10. Made me laugh. Chufties  Hope it wasn't someone on here, though it sounds like they weren't exactly following the highway code  R.I.P. for the Corrado though, another one down the pan by the sounds of it.
  11. I'm completely addicted to these things at the moment! I've just started watching heroes after VR6 suggested it, looks quite good so far. 24 is always gonna be my favorite, can't wait to watch season 6 in one big wasted weekend  , lost and prison break in close second though! CSI is always good for an in between show, as they don't have many cliffhangers, but it's clever. I started watching the 4400 a while ago, though there's only a few episodes in the 1st series and i've not started the 2nd yet. It's quite good, but it's a bit too much on the X files side of things for my liking.
  12. Welcome to the forum. If there's one thing i've learned from my Corrado, it's that milage isn't everything. My car had done 77k when I bought it, and looked mint too. Before then it'd had the auto gearbox rebuilt and the heater matrix done. Since I bought it, i've put a new engine in, and had a load of issues with cooling. Lesson learned: In most cases, it's far better to buy a car with 120k+ that's lived a good life being driven and looked after, than to buy a low miler that probably spent some time sitting around being neglected. One more thing (How can I say this without stepping on any toes)... Storms are a pretty overrated In my opinion. Yes they're rarer, but really you're paying for a badge, a colour, some wheels, and not much else. For the same money you're more likely to get a blinding VR with some change left over to personalise it. Good luck finding one, you'll never regret buying it, I still don't! :D
  13. Nice vid, That is good quality from a digi cam too, I've never even tried making a video with mine, gonna have to give it a go now! I got one of those gorilla pods for xmas too, could wrap it round somewhere good. I'd of been very worried about the one on the rear quarter falling off, but it does make for a nice angle.
  14. Nout for any of mine, probably a good thing though! That's really weird about the companies selling private plates, I wonder what would happen if you actually tried to buy your plate from them, could put them in hot water. Quite worrying really!
  15. That sucks mate, Pikey blood is the worst kind, make sure you wear a mask and gloves when you're cleaning it. :doc: Hope you've got leather, it'll be much easier to clean. Not that i'd know of course, ermmm.... Just think though, you're car did your dirty work for you, so you don't have to now! *awaits interesting post in "car care" on getting blood out of everything*
  16. Probably old news, but... Clicky  Oh dear.
  17. I'd say mint should mean exactly as it came from the shop/factory, never used, but as it's not direct from the shop, can't be considered new. Here's some useless information for you, I was going to ask if anyone knew where it came from, but did a quick google search and came up with this... The term "mint" apparently comes from coin collecting. When coins leave the royal mint, they are no longer brand new, but they are fresh from the mint, therefore they are "mint". The term "minted" meaning rich also derives from the royal mint. Didn't know that, didn't need to know it either, but it's a bit of pub ammo anyway
  18. Thanks guys, I'll have a play about when the weather's a bit nicer, I've got some autoglym shampoo so I'll give that a go first. Good thing is that it's only in a couple of small spots so I shouldn't need to worry about the glue too much. Saying that, I bet if I clean bits of it it'll make the rest of it look cack with 12 years of dirt on. The worst part is the sunroof still isn't working! not only has one of the little arms snapped, but the motors not turning either! Not that i've had much of a chance to check it all out yet.
  19. First time I've actually looked in this neck of the forum, makes me want to polish the car all day tomorrow  Anyway, I was doing some work on my engine, finished up and had some time left, so thought i'd have a look at my non working sunroof. Only thing is, muggins here forgot to wash up, and I got black oily fingerprints all over my grey headlining  It seems to be a bit of a pain to clean, I've tried everything from rubbing it with a damp cloth to shouting at it, and nothing's working. I've not tried car shampoo yet, I'm worried that the oil will just smudge, making it worse, so i'm a bit reluctant to try. Anyone got any ideas?
  20. Exactly. You never know what the other engine's been through, and unless you are very careful, it might end up needing new chains too, or worse. I'd say do the chains, £650 is very cheap for a low miler, I'd expect more around £700-850 TBH, but you need to know it's not been treated badly. I learned the hard way that low milage isn't everything on these cars, mine had big end problems at 80k, it'd probably been treated badly at some point. I had to swap mine for one with 50k on the clock, and while it works, i've still had a few teething problems, as with most 10 year old engines that've been sitting in a scrappy for a while. It'd probably cost much more to swap the block too, since the work involved is probably about the same hours-wise. If you do the work yourself, it'd be the difference between the price of then chains, or the price of an engine, plus plugs, oil, filters, coolant, P/S fluid, etc., it all starts to mount up very quickly.
  21. You're lucky to have a Mk 2 to work on. It's a damn sight easier than a corrado, though not quite as easy to work on as an old beetle (aircooled simplicity, lovely). That said, most discs and pads work the same way anyway, though some need bearings pressing in. If you ever do back pads/discs, make sure you've got one of those twist caliper clamp thingys, I only found that out on this forum after struggling for an hour. Drum brakes, however, are a completely different matter, you end up cutting your hands up getting them off, then getting poked with springs, then have to bleed the system, and even then they're rubbish at braking! I can't stand them, which is why i'm slowly erradicating them out of my life
  22.   Classic. What a tool.
  23. I think you'll find most parts are still available from the stealers TBH, I've never had a problem getting any stuff from them, though it sometimes takes a week or 2 if they have to order it from the factory. I'm sure someone else can be more specific, but I'm sure I remember some law or other in Germany that manufacturers must continue making parts for cars for at least 10-15 years after they stop making them, so it'll only be really obscure bits that they don't do any more now. I may be wrong though  If you want to know if parts are still available and rough pricing (mine is usually slightly out!), get yourself a copy of ETKA.
  24. It may be butchered, but the Corrado's certainly the best car to advertise to people about headlight improvements
