have just fitted some different temp rated plugs - 7 i think, instead of 5. recommeded by a few people who had the same problems exactly. seems to be running very nicely now. we'll see..........

my mate has a G60 golf tweaked up to about 240 bhp, and that sounds absolutely amazing. totally different to the vr engine - much more manic and aggressive. lovely.

you should meet my mechanic kev - he reckons i should be a tester for veedub :) my no.6 was definately like the 'melted' one on that link. but blacker. running so sweetly now. not convinced it'll last though!

mine are black and rather melted. i will get a pic in the morning and out it up. BTW, i didn't mention, no.3 was similar but not nearly as bad. by a long way.

injector was mentioned today. gonna try a can of injector cleaner just in case its just blocked.

did that today mate. nothing with engine running or not.

thanks mate. can you tell me what mechanical circumstances could do that to the plugs? ie, could knackered valves, cyclinders, etc do that? or is it an electrical issue?

hi. was just wondering what would make a spark plug melt. have been having all sorts of misfire problems and have today discovered that my new plug in no. 6 is totally fekked - really black and scorched and melted. with only 600o miles on it. so why would this be? lean / rich??? ecu??? god knows. anyway, with a new plug in, its running amazingly! torque steer is back which is a sign of lots of power again! what plugs do other vr owners use?? which is good, as i was starting to narrow it down to oiled-up plugs :( anyway, any thoughts would be mucho appreciated

does it really take 5 hours to adjust the timing or whatever? i can't notice much difference between fuels on my C vr, but on the golf vr a tank of optimax 'seemed' to have an imediate effect. i guess it could have been psychological? just putting my foot down that much more??

and the problem these days is that being 'in the right' isn't enough anymore. bloody winging liberals. evryone has these things called 'rights' or something - even the bloody perpetrator! if i was PM, i would shoot anyone who p*ssed me off when in the rado ;)

i had someone take their wing mirror off on my vr cos they were driving down the middle of the fekin road in a piece of sh*t 15 year old astra. i then go back the next morning to find a note on my car saying ring me or i'll phone the police. so i find her car and leave a note saying get f***ed you were driving like an idiot and its entirely your fault. she reported me for dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident!!! tw*t. so it ended up with me in the police station on the phone to the woman's husband going absolutely mental because the police were siding with her! in the end the copper dealing with it realised from how pissed off i was that it was a horesh*t claim and advised the woman to sod off. she was asking for 150 squid for an astra mirror! lol. tenner for the car. maybe.....

i can see air in the front arches of your motor there kev!!!! wind it down a notch or too ;)
