Hmmm...... This thing looks pretty mental! Could it be used with the shrek intake manifold? And a 6-branch exhaust mani for that matter? I take it both can remain fitted?

Have a look at some infinity's mate. Nice sound. The tweeters are fairly weak but you don't want components, so it's all good. Get some big heavy 6x9s for the parcel shelf?

Both together are definately available for less than 200 now. imo it's a very good head unit for the money. And it has proper turny knobs on the front for volume etc which I like personally. Old skool.

Yeah I've got an alpine with the ipod controller in the glove box mate - properly wired in so I never touch the ipod. It even charges it up. Can't remember the model number - 2 mins and I'll go and have a look.

Yeah, don't get me wrong Wires - I have a house full of pioneer dj gear and a gorgeous cd recorder, but for budget car hifi I'd go elsewhere.

Personally mate, and many will disagree I'm sure, I wouldn't get pioneer anything for the car. I use loads of their products elsewhere, but for the car I'm not so sure. For a cheap head unit I would go for an Alpine. And for cheap speakers maybe JLAudio. They're pretty good for the money in my experience. And infinity. Very nice sound for the dosh. Amp - not sure. I'd buy a 2nd hand one - personally it would be a mission, but they're hard to find.

Yes i do realise that. but i for one aint got the knowledge to do that, so fitting cost is very relevant. Anyway, i'm not trying to start an argument or nowt, just opinions. After reading through Kev's turbo pages i'm now pretty much sold on getting rid of the shrek/cams and getting a turbo to be honest mate! :)

i just sold a 2.8 24v for £700. that's LESS than shreks go for. Yes, and what about the 1500/2000 to fit it? I believe he used the word 'install', which implies fitted to me. If anyone can get a 24v fsupplied and fitted for less than a shrek and remap, i'd be amazed.

imo the entire character of the engine changes with a shrek, as well as the performance. Something is definately way out if you can't tell it's on there mate. It's just so different to drive with the shrek on - gear change points, what part of the rev range you use, etc, etc. It becomes much lazier to drive if you're that way inclined. Mine is still not properly mapped but it made a huge difference having the shrek fitted. For shizzle. Get it mapped pronto, and then come back and tell us what you think dude :)

You only need to worry if your brake discs move backwards and forwards like mine did! Round and round is ok :)

Well charged vr's can be up to 500 or 600 bhp to be fair. Turbo rather than supercharged I mean. Not to be sniffed at!! :)

Yeah buy a VR mate and keep the 500 quid dream boat for spares (the vr WILL break down) :) Then charge it.
