  1. i reckon thats a sweet price for a 47k vr lump delivered to your door mate! decent engines are fairly rare - or thats what i've found. there's loads around for 5/600 squid but they're all high miles etc. you know you want to stay loyal to the 12v :)
  2. what size are those pkripper? looks like a deeper dish and 16? the ones that don't fit on vr's? I reckon the spokes on the 17's in the vr picture are right out at the edge of the rims hence the fact they fit on a vr!!
  3. Shame. Could be a lovely motor with some cash spent.
  4. I just lost all my NCB and had to get a new policy this week. 409 quid on a vr with zero NCB! I thought that was pretty good. I've never found cheaper than elephant and they wanted 600.
  5. Sh*t man did you want the charger? I have NO memory whatsoever fella. Sorry :( The head disappeared an hour before the auction end? It didn't on my screen. I made a few tactical bids then sat back and let bidsniper do the work :) I have a bad feeling though - the bloke won't reply to my emails - I reckon he's gonna back out of the sale cos it didn't go high enough. I'm gonna sue him if he does!!! :)
  6. Oh man thats good news! How much are you after for the spare set mate? PM sent
  7. Is that quote for a 2.9 or 2.8 mate?
  8. Does a slightly higher CR mean better emissions mate? I fancy going cat-free as well.
  9. Thanks Chris :) Any ideas on suppliers for the flywheel? So a good machine shop that does balancing etc, is lightly to be able to do the fancy pants crank work you mention? I really fancy that as I want torque torque torque. Are they going to know what to do or will i have to provide info you reckon? Cheers
  10. Hmmm..... What sort of condition are your rods in mate? Price? Might save me some time and hassle
  11. And you can have my leathers for 700. (well that would be 690 really) Joke
  12. Yeah I have had that planned for a while mate. I reckon the 3.68 would be a good balance. Want to get a pely in there as well for some serious corner action.
  13. Standard sounds good then. Cheers
  14. Yeah i hear what you're saying. What I really want is a 6.0 litre V8 under the bonnet for some seriously lazy power :) So any recs for flywheel and clutch? Standard. Lightened etc? (sorry Nickvr6 - bidsnipe rules)
  15. Hi I've just got hold of a new 2.9 vr block and pistons. What I would like to know is can I get the crank fom my knackered engine reground, lightened, balanced etc to go in the new block, or do I have to get a brand new crank? I really don't have a clue how it all works in there! Will the reground crank still 'fit' with standard size pistons etc? (don't laugh) Same with the rods? Do I basically just need new bearings, gaskets, etc as well? I have feked around for ages trying to sort my engine so I want to make the most of having what amounts to a largely new engine. I've already got a new thermostat/housing, water pump etc. May well invest in some new sensors? Looks like I've also just won a brand new head, so fingers crossed there may be a brand spankers new vr engine on the horizon. Any suggestions as to what else I should do would be most appreciated. I was going to go down the charged route, but changed my mind and sold the charger. I fancy a schrick intake tbh and anything else that will increase low end torque/power. Any thoughts? And what about new injectors, fuel pump etc? Where do you stop???? Cheers :)
  16. Matt was upset about what mate? The offer I made? Sorry if he was, but 4k was unbelievably unrealistic for that car in its present state. And I hate to say it, but to be honest the engine was feeling a bit tired. It could just be that he doesn't open her up enough, but who knows. Hope he sells it :)
  17. My advice would be stop asking everyone else and try the fekin things mate.
  18. You're right kev. You know everything. You're the man eh?
  19. He's talking on a vr mate. Each brand performs differently on different models.
  20. is that like the budget k&n induction kit you've got on yours? ;) i'd go for one of those decent alternatives if i was you :)
  21. err.... avo's aren't exactly budget mate. i'd say 550 quid or so is fairly mid-range to be honest?
