  1. i went in the prototype of the aston martin lagonda when i was a kid in the 70s. thats got to be pretty rare. it was (and still is) like a space ship. also went in the prototype of the virage (!!!) when i was a bit older. i used to live 2 doors from the guy who used to drive astons into brick walls before they invented crash test dummies :) what a job!
  2. CoxyLaad - see trig's comment above ;) Not very capable at all :) Anyone know of any 24v engines/cars/associated gubbins for sale??
  3. DutchVR6, i'm confused. surely thats a grand, plus milling costs, plus rebuild cost, plus fitting? sounds fekin lovely though
  4. still in the hunt for that 24v then maybe. only 5000 miles
  5. CoxyLaad - so is it just the clocks, keys and ecu that have to match? can that matching set go with any engine? i guess the ecu is the relevant bit?
  6. so Dutch..... how do you get an engine from germany to the uk and is it mucho dollar?
  7. yeah that does look rather nice eh? turns out the 24v i was 'looking' at didn't have clocks, ecu or keys! :( it was one of the vw racers selling it, and they use stand alone management. but i'll be honest, the more i hear you lot say, the more i'm leaning towards the darkside and 24v's. traitor ;)
  8. no it aint mine mate. it's for sale 2k!!!
  9. pics like this make me want to stay 12v. this is a fully worked 3.1 - tasty
  10. Just looking at ad on ebay.de and the really poor translation refers to 'resting ignition'!!?? Any idea if that would be dizzy or CP?? Cheers :)
  11. Thanks mate. Thats the best list i've found so far! i'm so in 2 minds now - 12 or 24v. it's p*ssin me off now ;)
  12. its not relevant to my question kev. there's an engine. i have to decide fairly quickly. i was asking for advice. cheers :)
  13. any chance we could actually stick to the thread here fellas? anyone know what else i need? (see list above) :)
  14. Could I just recap on what i need with the engine please? I have read the threads but just want to make sure..... ecu engine loom clocks keys manifolds dbw throttle what else?
  15. Stan - course i dropped the Bates name mate! I have no mechanical knowledge, but I'm not dumb! ;) Decisions decisions.............
  16. do it myself stan? you're avin a bleedin laugh mate :) already in discussion with Andy at PSI regarding rebuilds etc - decision time!
  17. i had to do the same recently mate. i had 3 x 17 inch borbets and one 15 inch speedline! quality ;)
  18. gutted for you mate - hope you getted it sorted quickly. dr_mat - full of usefull comments again today i see ;)
  19. and i live in the uk not germany. ;) 12v 12v 12v now awaiting rebuild prices
  20. because unfortunately my name is not midas ;) i can rebuild my bottom end for that money fitted (and i haven't even seen an r32 lump that cheap anyway) so i would also have to fork out extra on top of the 2k or so for the swap. so it works out nearly double. also my insurance would not have it in a million years :(
  21. no i haven't changed my mind trig. just thinking really. i really want to stick with the 12v and then charge it tbh. and i now just about have the funds for a rebuild in place. so i'm just having a last think before i definately comit to a 12v rebuild.
  22. not the r32's i've seen mate. point in the right direction please.
  23. clearly i wouldn't be looking at an engine thats not in good nick. thanks for the rest of the comments :)
  24. Thanks mate - I'v read all the threads I think. 1.5k with 5k on the clock has got to be a bargain then really - it's already out of the car too, so that would save time and money :)
  25. Hi. I'm faced with a vr6 engine rebuild which costs a fookin fortune. However, I've just found a 24v V6 with 5k on the clock for 1500 quid. Does that sound like a good price? It's very low mileage so seems ok to me. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks Will
