Updated pictures. (Inside the car) Remember! This is a first attempt and a quick test, its meant to look cheap and tacky! Not sure about final materials yet, looking into it. The buttons will prob be behind the front part, in the year I've owned it I've never had to press them once configured. (and Tiff's shut up!) The wires are coming out the front because I haven't hard wired anything yet.

Mines a 93K VR, would that be late? He got the price from my chassis number.
-
Un-painted. Just to get the bonnet from VW. Any ideas on carbon fibre sellers/sites?
-
Thought I'd let everyone know how much VAG want for a new bonnet and bumper! £300ish +VAT for the Bonnet  £380ish +VAT for the Bumper. I need a new bonnet (hence the quote), but after finding this out I may look for a diff manufacturer, or even a Carbon bonnet for that price!

Next stupid question. Where do you get resin from and roughly how much? Do you put it on with a brush (if its what I'm thinking of)? Is this the stuff that people cover mdf in and then take a fibre class cast of?
-
I'm a bit of a numpty with MDF though! Not exactly what you'd call a diy'er! Plus I dont really have the tools. Do you think I'd be able to coat the foam i vinyl?
-
Suppose so. You could power it from the interior light??? Perhaps. Trouble is, part of the reason I'm putting where I am is so no one can see it and I can leave it in the car.
-
Now you're just being picky. It's on the inside! :)

This is an idea I'm doing to fit my Road Angel 2 into the car, kinda of a permanent thing but also removable. Please bear in mind this is more of a template and could evolve through suggestions etc. It will eventually be cut down so it fits in the cubby hole beneath the ash tray/12v socket. The power will come from the cig lighter so it will be hard wired in. I have also bought an external aerial for it. My plan is to spray it black (maybe cover it in a black material?), so you can't see it properly if you look in the car. In pic 3 you can see a piece of foam covering it, this is how I want it to look when done, so you can only see the display. This was quickly made to show you the idea, haven't decided yet on what material the 'front panel' will be yet. Any thoughts?

Cool, solved an argument here, cheers! Cue post being locked now due to my incompetent searching!

Has the VR6 got a V6 engine or not? Top gear said V6 and I thought they were, but now a mates put doubt in my mind as he thought that a V6 engine would have more of a 'V' shape to it. (As in the cylinders I assume). Is it a straight 6 or a V6? Also, whats VR mean while I'm here?

Doesn't need power no. For some reason I thought the blue one was only when you turned the lights on? If not, then I could just use the wires going into the ashtray light couldn't I (One blue one brown I think)? The light doesn't work anyway so not missing out there and it'll save me hacking the cig lighter to bits.

+ insurance as well dont forget!

Under the bonnet! That about sums up my mechanical knowledge. Really should do a course!

Its the same for all, regardless of type of car. Which is exactly why we all put 150miles down if we've done 100. Can't afford not to.
-
Just wondering what people get for mileage at work (assuming you use your car for work) I get 37p a mile and its not enough as thats to pay for everything. Theres no allowance on top of that.

My C tries to chat up TVR's, but they have none of it. The slag!
-
Cheers, works a treat! While I'm doing things electrical, could you tell me this; I'm hardwiring my road angel via teh cigarette socket. The RA cable has a red and black wire in it, but the cig lighter has 3 wires? A brown, a red and a blue. Which wire do I connect to the red and which to the black etc. Cheers

Forgot about petrol cars & their fuel consumption!

Live for today, you cant take you money with you! If you can get a C instead of the diesel where it wont affect your financial security then do it. Whats the point of playing it safe when you can have fun. -
EDIT:New question in post 3. My stereo works fine, the only trouble I'm having is when the ignition's off, it loses all its settings (as if theres no power when the cars off) I've being told that if I join the Red and Yellow wires it should keep its power? Is this right? The red says ACC, and the yellow says Battery.

When the parts guy gets to know your voice because you've phoned up so much for parts, you get to qualify for a discount!
