Finally, after nearly a year since i purchased this project i can finally say that its now Moted. :win: Since i got the car and got the head rebuilt and then running(Big thanks to Bobby for all his help), rebuilding all the brakes. Getting the wheels redone, sorting out some of the lights i stuck it in for its Mot last sep. Unfortunately it failed on 2 things :( Nearside wing side repeater bulb not working(Doh! ....my fault did even notice). And a very small rust spot on the drivers inner sill(just under the door), which the tester managed to find after much beating with his Ice pick hammer...lol. I could have welded this up myself, but as this is a visible area on the car it would have to painted, so i got my mate to take it into his bodyshop to repair and paint this for me. While it was there I was hoping he could have sorted out some other bits around the car like some small scrapes/scratches on the bumpers etc, but unfortunately he did get round to them. Well 5 months later i got the car back from him.Sill repair done, and sprayed the whole of the sill area, which has sorted out some of the stone chips on it. So it sailed through its MOT today, advisory on 1 rear shock which was leaking. This i knew about and i will replace the shockers at some point but left it as was only bad enough to be an advisory. Now its road legal i can finely get started on this proper. I have various seals to replace, get the Aircon checked out/serviced Get the key locks sorted as i have only 1 key which fits only 1 door lock so whether i re-tumble the locks or replace them all i am unsure yet. Stripping out the whole interior and cleaning it proper or start on the outside detail i will have to weigh up what the weather will be like. But at least its on the road now

I did that and Nothing. Pity the car has only got 50k on it and everything looks and feels good with in the fan. I have just ordered a new one anyway.
-
Right i have checked the switch and the multiplug at the fan. All is making good contact and power is going to each connection/wire. Thermal fuse has continuity too so thats not broken. ?????? ---------- Post added at 11:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ---------- Thermal fuse has resistance through it. I even removed the multiplug board to bypass the Thermal fuse and put 12v across the 2 supply wires....................Nothing! The bearings are free, i take it the main motor is knackered?

Heater has been intermittently working in my 91 G60. Has now stopped working all together. Any common problems to check out first? I know about the thermal fuse in the late dash models, does this occur in the early ones too?
-
Same thermal fuse as this thread? http://website.lineone.net/~quigger/heater.htm

I have this system in my project VR6. The fan only works on speed 4 so i was going to replace the thermal fuse, but having a quick look at the system yesterday it wasnt just a case of a quick turn and the fan is out. Is it just a case of removing all the screws(if i can get to them all) and them removing the base for access to the fan?

I had problems doing my system today, i notice there are 2 bleed nipples on top of the ABS pump. Should these be bled? Would it have made a differance, but i never had one of the rear ABS sensors plugged in when i bled the circuit

As above.............VW part number 1H0121157H. To fit 95 corrado VR6 Should look the same as this. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_2.8_1997/p/Car-Parts/Transmission/Cooling/Water-Hoses-and-Clips/?211441550&1&db3a763566c7d17c7e41636dd30fece12d655e9f&RADH Cheers skid.

Yeah i know totally weird one but my project VR6 Raddo is missing a retaining spring for the front headlight. I cant buy one as you need to buy the headlight complete, i have also tried the local breakers and no Vw`s were there. So has anyone got one lying about or maybe a broken headlamp which might have a spring still on it? Cheers Skid.

Posted you on Eastside regarding vr6 rear calipers give me a phone plz

Well its been a while since i have posted any updates on this project VR.....prob cause not much has been happening with it. I was hoping to get the head back on the car this weekend once i return from offshore but found out from the head shop doing the skimming that the Exhaust Valve guides are all worn! Dont know how common a problem this is with a 115k engine esp since it overheated. Worst thing is i bought the car as a non runner so i dont know if they were showing any other symptoms for this before hand. But i can get the head skimmed, valve guides replaced, seals replaced and valves grind/cut for £300. Hopefully this will be done asap so i can get it on and running. I have ordered new rear discs, bearings, abs rings, pads for the car so thats another job to get on with once home. Tried a couple of areas on the bodywork with the rotary and a mild compound and it cut back the oxidisation on the paint and all the swirl marks brilliantly so now i cant wait to get the whole car machine polished and gleaming to its proper colour. My G60 is due its MOT so hopefully that should sail through as i am lucky if its done 1k since the last MOT. Hopefully have something to write and show on this project once i get home.

Matt i think i need to change the rear calipers on my 95 Vr6, did you buy new calipers etc, if so could you tell me where about you bought stuff and approx costs for all this plz?
-
How bad is the scratch? Can you feel it with your finger nail?.......If so its prob too deep to take out. Very much doubt that a D/A machine will take it out, will prob need wet sanded then compounded out with a rotary afterwards.

This weekend managed to get the cylinder head off and to my surprise no seized or broken bolts/fixings, totaly chuffed to bits. Head going down to a local Head shop to get checked and skimmed ready for refitting. Think i will change the water pump while i am in about the area, just not sure wether to search for an aftermarket metal impellor pump or get a standard vw plastic internals pump......time to do some search on here and find out whats best. Got my wheels back from the powder coaters and surprisingly they came up remarkably well(pics will be posted when i get them all clean and sealed). Got my front discs back from getting skimmed and so much better without the rust scale on them. Also i am def sure the most of the water has been coming in through the heater scuttle, cause while i was searching for the Alarm module there was planty of water around the base of the fan unit. The Alarm (meta M99T2)and imobiliser(M36T2) will need looked at as i am sure its "locked out" as i am not getting any of the main power light coming up on the dash, the sunroof, the windows and indicators are not working. All the fuses have been checked so i need to investigate further, also an alarm specialist is coming to check over the alarm system.
-
Cheers.....exactly where it was :)
-
That was my next port of call. A vw mechanic mate said he has seen some under the back seat....!
-
Been looking at my project VR6 today and was trying to find the alarm brain/module but for the life of me i couldnt find it! Tried to trace the cables from the alarm horn module back through the bulkhead but that didnt help either. Tried looking everywhere behind the dash, behind the glove box, stereo, centre consule steering colum but no luck. Any ideas where the most common place is to be located?
-
Well i took the wheels off yesterday and now down to the powder coaters to get refurbished, maybe a bit Cart before the Horse as there are other mechanicals wanting looked at but might as well get them done when its not running. Took the front Discs off for inspection and plenty of thickness still there so down at the machine shop getting a very light skimming to remove surface rust. Couldnt get the rear caliper carriers off as the 2 bolts are seized in so once i get an oxy/acet plant to get some heat into them i will get the rear discs removed and cleaned up too. Will get the head removed this weekend and get it away to get skimmed before i get the head gasket replaced.
-
Had a quick visual of it today, looks like somebody has already tackled it with a sealant gun, so maybe its not coming from there. Mind you looks like he slapped it on with a shovel....lol. I will strip it out and do the job right ;)
-
Oh dont worry, once the interior is out it will be getting the talcum powder treatment and a thorough testing ;)
-
The car sat outside a local garage for the past 4 years so that and the sunroof seal hanging off and prob the gutters blocked thats where the water ingress came from. Being stuck in the sun without any proper wax/sealant to give it some UV protection no wonder it faded to pink so much. I do detailing in my spare time and with the proper products and knowledge base i will hopefully get this back to its former glory. I just hope the paint is not too oxidised and the paint is thick enough for me to cut it back to rid the oxidisation. Once i get the interior stripped, roof lining out and it all cleaned with the right products and process it will dry fully in the sun, the natural UV light will assist in killing the mould spores. :)

As i said there was a fair bit of mould on the leather :scared: Project VR6 arrived home today  So before i get started on mechanical works on the car i gave it a quick wash down........well it needed it after not getting washed for the past 4 years :scared: Also gave me a chance to have a closer look at how the paintwork is and how much a job i have to do. Let the laughter begin  img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v430/mrskid/Project%20VR6/P1010823.jpg[/img] After a good wash, well a couple of washes to be true. Lots of G101 and P21S, it started to look a bit cleaner  No wonder with this much water sitting inside the footwell :scared:  Managed to Vax off the surface water for just now till i get the whole carpet removed and washed/dried. The roof lining will come down at the same time for a good cleaning too.
