VR6 Gearbox - O2A CHN Gearbox removed from my Corrado VR6. I thought 5th gear was away (was difficult to locate) so swapped it with another box and the problem persisted. Turns out it was the shifter tower (or at least I think it was). As such, box is being sold as spares repair. I think 5th gear would be ok but wouldnt want to chance selling it as a 100% box. Interesting to hear that lol! I sent it back but the courier is saying they have rejected delivery!!! Just raising the paperwork to go through small claims just now. Notifying the tax man too as I paid via Paypal and never got a receipt so not convinced everything is going through the books. Thanks, Andy

My advice would be to buy a recon rack from GSF. I bought a 2nd hand one but have had nothing but problems (see my Amos Motors thread in General Chat). Ended up having to buy one from GSF and is perfect, quick delivery etc...really happy with it! Thanks, Andy

All, Just a word of warning to avoid this seller on eBay. I purchased a "Corrado" steering rack from them and when it arrived, turned out to be for a MK3 Golf. They are insisting it is the same but there are differences between them as many people know who are knowledgeable on Corrados. They are only offering to refund it if I pay both sets of postage and a 20% re-stocking fee, so I would get about £20 back from the £50 I spent on it! I am in touch with trading standard and am seeking legal advice through work. Someone pointed out that it is the same company who failed to return a gents Schrick off the forum : http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=76610 I don’t like naming and shaming but feel that it is appropriate in this instance as they seem a fairly large supplier of Corrado used parts. Hi, The ABS rotor on my 1994 VR6 is badly bent so I am looking for a replacement hub with rotor. Must be in good condition and available to post ASAP. Thanks, Andy

Update : I tried to order the Golf VR6 rack from Euro Car Parts (Remy DSR635) but they were out of stock and couldnt get one in apparently. Offered to send my rack away for refurb but at a cost of £180! I have therefore ordered one from GSF. Was £330 minus a 20% discount and then £130 back when you return the old rack so is working out at £130 for anyone that is interested. Thanks, Andy

Hi, I appreciate this has been covered a lot but despite hours of searching I cant seem to find a definitive answer. I am looking for a new steering rack for my 1994 VR6 and wanting to know what ones are compatible. On my car currently : 1H2 422 061A - This is also listed by Etka as correct one (RHD, TRW, Variation is 061AX which is refurbished) Euro Car Parts list : 603440950 - This is a ZF rack so I understand it is not the one I am after (fitted to US Spec cars) Euro Car Parts list for Mk3 Golf VR6 - 603440970 (Which is a Remy DSR635(L) rack). Having cross referenced this, it shows up with the same part number as the VR6 so I assume this is the correct one but just want some conformation? Thanks, Andy

Thanks for all the suggestions. Thankfully it was an easy fix :$ It appears that when I fitted the counter balance I didn't align it properly so it was stopping it from going into 5th. Appreciate all the help! Andy

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Unfortunatley, it is the same when you try to put it in 5th by hand on the box with the cables detatched. Will try the other shifter tower in it but starting to think its knackered too :(

It came with one so I used it but replaced the 2 consumable bits. The shifter mech has been overhauled so dont think it will be that :(

Hi, I know it has been covered a lot on here but I am having trouble getting my VR6 into 5th gear. I bought a 2nd hand box from someone on here who said it worked perfectly. Upon fitting it, it seems perfect in every gear but wont go into 5th. I have tried adjusting it and manually putting it into 5th but it just wont go, no matter how hard you try. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks, Andy

Stripped down some 288mm front calipers and MK4 rear calipers, painted them and put some new seal kits in. Ready to fit at the weekend hopefully. Also re-did the stereo wiring that someone botched before and bolted the steering column solid to remove the play in it.
