I think if I would have left mine as I bought it and kept up with the servicing then it would have been very reliable. Since changing almost every conceivable part on the car, Ive had a few issues if Im honest but considering these cars are getting on a bit now its been very good to me. They are very well engineered and as long as they are looked after, they give many miles of fun.

strange one. when you dropped the subframe, could a cable snagged and broke? Check around the starter and alternator area. Otherwise, may just be coincidence and you would need to go through the basics. Maybe the ign key has finally worn out (getting quite a common issue)

 :( Cheers Andi -
i think the tie rods are different. If youve changed the arms to vr6 versions the distance from hub to gearbox has increased. Have you taken that into consideration? Have you pressed vr6 hubs into your carriers? VR6 hubs have different spline design too

sorry, but the gap is between the text and the signature start. like i said, mine seems to be more than others. See attachment where I compare mine and VR6's post. Or are you saying that, adding a large signature increases the text area? -

VR6, yours has a gap on my screen too, but not as bad as mine. see my posts screen shot -
not 100% sure, I know the mounts for both are slightly different but if they are interchangeable, I cant say. What are you trying to achieve?

I think Ive only been spotted once since being on the forum. No big deal, just means Im too quick for you guys ;-)

Right, took a bit of digging through the garage, only to realise I had these in the shed! But I've got both parts and all seems to be intact, just covered in old oil but a good clean up will sort that out. you still want them? If so I've PM's my paypal details

WRT the flat spot, it appears that VW and Audi offered a flashfile update (6463 ecu upgrade) for the 3.2 to rectify a flat spot. Not sure how to get this flashfile update added to our ecu's though. I found this out on the r32 forum Some people suggest the MAF could be a cause. Only problem I dont know anyone with a suitable MAF to borrow. BTW does your conversion allow for VAG com to work? I havent tried.

That was the original idea, but I have a tendancy to change my mind every five mins lol

Went to MIJ a few weeks ago and dealt with Jay the owney, top guy! We spoke about what I wanted and said that I preffered to keep the pipe diameter the same as the decat all the way through and wanted to have a quite system. They were very quick but was very surprised that the system was fully welded together with no joints and they used solid rubber mounts to fit it!! But I mentioned this and they fitted a flanged joint (not my preference but thats all they could do). I was in a rush so, once they completed the work I had to go off to my family in Worcester. Jeez was it loud at low to 2krpm under slight load but once it was reving with light load such as on the dual carriage ways or motor way it sounded sweet. However the loudness was too much to live with as a daily. So I called them up the next day and Jay said it would take a few miles for the silencers to fill up with carbon and would dull down, but it didnt. So I called them up again and they said to bring it in for review. So yesterday I took the car back and we looked at my options, after a bit of um and arm ing we ended up replacing the rear cylindrical silencer with an oval version and removed one of the solid mounts. Once complete I took the car for a quick spin and it was much, much better!! I shook Jays hand and headed home with a smile on my face. So to summarise, a cheap CAT back SS custom exhaust served with a proffesional and friendly service. Just make sure you state exactly how you want the system ie type of mounts, joints, sounds and size etc etc. I only have a picture of the first system, I didnt get one done of the second one while on the ramp but Ill try and get something sorted.

On the ramp having it's second exhaust fitted in 2 weeks. Sounds spot on now!

What size brakes have you got fitted Rob? Im on 312mm's and wouldnt mind running speedlines but was told they wont fit. Or are your brakes smaller / aftermarket speedlines?
-
no, the golf has different mounting positions.
-
Are these direct replacements on the corrado or something? Or are you fitting them to a mkvi?

Cheers Pete. Will check them out if I end up being in that area for a while. I keep forgetting how light the bonnet is each time I go to open it. Its great but can't get used to seeing the carbon weave. Am considering fitting a fibre glass version which is just as light and getting that painted instead. Someone else can then enjoy the real carbon look. Yesterday i was quite active. I rebuilt the two seat harnesses and checked that the seats work and all seems good with the motors and heating. I just need to take the seats out and run the looms through the interior. I then drove back to Walsall to sort out the custom exhaust that was fitted a week or so ago as I was still finding it too loud. Jay at MIJ, was brilliant, we went through all the possibilities to sort it and ended up fitting a different back box FOC. I was worried at first that that wouldn't be enough but I trusted his judgement. Once sorted he called me through to see the work and have a listen. Instantly it sounded better but I went for a quick drive to check. Such a difference, not more undesirable droaning, instead a nice subtle tone throughout the rev range and different engine loads. I returned back to MIJ with a smile and shook his hand. Ill post up a separate thread about them so if anyone wants info on MIJ they can have a read up. Besides all that, ive been trying to diagnose the poor starting issue. Every so often she won't start on first crank. Battery seems ok with charge but is getting old. Will keep checking as it seems to be getting worse. :-S

Was fitted to the coilpack VR6 Corrado. Not sure how many miles Ive covered with it but I would guess about 20k miles.
