    Polished rims

autosol to get the shine there and then a wax based polish to protect it... 8)
  2. Only if it's sunny outside... when it's dark or raining, who cares if it's open or shut? ;) (It's always raining in Manchester, apart from now that I'm stuck in my office... )

    speedo cable

I'd go with speedo cable being broken too... Unplug it from the back of the clocks and then roll the car forwards (or backwards!) a few feet to see if the square center bit turns. If it doesn't, you need a new cable.

    130k

yeah, I used to work on that theory until the engine got scrapped by one bolt shearing off (nothing could have been done to predict that one... ) so I just replaced EVERYTHING in the engine bay  Should last for a good few miles now! ;) Replacing stuff as and when it gets tatty/gives up is a good way of doing things, as long as you make sure you inspect the car regularly... ;)
  5. Nope, washer jets have 2 wires going to 'em... live + earth. They're earthed back in the engine bay somewere... :| The bonnet earth strap was mainly to prevent static build up and to help with radio reception as stated above.... 8) My new G60 has been messed with in a pretty major way wiring wise... (not all bad I hasten to add! ;) ) I've now got Gold battery clamps and all of the main lives and earths from them have been replaced with some seriously heavy duty cables... I'm gonna tidy it up a little this weekend while I fit my sub/amps/speaker cables etc, so I'll see if I can get a couple of snaps to show what's possible... 8)
  6. pretty sure the mounting points are different...
  7. pretty sure there's not much the same in that case other than the crankshaft... :|
  8. If your Corrado is a 1.8 and if it's a 16V golf, then the whole engine is the same, only the gearbox (and radiator IIRC) are different between the golf and the Corrado . If it's a 2.0 16V Corrado, then I have no idea if the bits are the same... :|

    Ceiling

alcantara looks good... (it's kind of like suede looking material)
  10. nope, it's welded onto the main back box... :|
  11. yup, the tip is stainless, the rest of the system is high quality steel.

    Ceiling

A20LEE and Cheesy have both had their roof cloth (that's what the Ceiling is called) remade in a different fabric. It's quite expensive to do if you use leather because it's so big. It's not very difficult to get the old one out, but you need to be careful. I think that once the cloth starts to hang down away from the backing, you can't fix it, you will need to replace it. :|
  13. elephant hung up on me after I started to list the modifications to J-dub... :| They don't like more than 5 modifications to any car... (I'd done more than that to the supercharger piping alone! :| )
  14. that Karmann Ghia is sex on wheels... *drool* Lovely... 8) :notworthy:

    Newby!

VR6 220, any idea when the car was Oettinger'd? There used to be one up here in Manchester with a spec almost identical to that which was done by Deutchcar (IIRC) and featured in a few mags... Get some pics up! 8) Welcome to The Forum... 8)
  17. hummm, they look familiar... ;) (they've not been laquered as far as I know...) I like 'em Jim... Looking good mate! :D 8)

    Dr Clutch??

theRuler, been there, seen that, done the same, dented the front wing in frustration and then was even more angry with myself for denting a perfectly good panel...
  23. you can buy a plug in aerial amplifier from Maplins for under £10 which will help with your AM/FM reception once you've bypassed the original amp... ;) 8)

    Dr Clutch??

yeah, if you're on a good set of garage ramps, I've done one on both my old 1.8 16V and my G60 in about 2 hours (although it does require 2 people to lift it out and then back in again... :| )
  25. It's in the same place as on a G60 box (they're the same apart from the gear ratios! ;) ) Look at the back of the gearbox and you'll see the bit where the driveshafts bolt onto. That's the Diff housing which sticks out there, and the speed sensor is the ONLY bit which sits on top of the Diff and has wiring going to it... ;)
