Well, it's an anniversary today.... 1 year to the day that the crank bolt sheared off... :? So, how does she reward me after all the hard work, money and time I've spent on her over the last 12 months? The sodding exhaust starts to blow again...  I've gotta laugh, at least it's only a dodgy gasket which I've been thinking hasn't been particularly great in a while.... but it was sooooooo much fun blatting down the M56 blowing away a 530 BMW with the exhaust blowing that it's reminded me i'st all worth it! 8) Still more to come though folks... keep watching! ;) :D

Looking good... can't wait to see the end product... :) 8) -
up at 45(ish) down at about 10... 8) Although if I'm about to blow someone away at the lights, the moonroof drops from tilt, the spoiler goes up and then I dissapear in a screech of tyres! :D   8)

could well be a dodgy sensor in the expansion tank... which could also be part of your leak coupled with a dodgy tank cap seal... ;) Get yourself a new expansion tank and cap and see if that helps any... they're not expensive, but I would recommend getting a genuine VAG tank rather than a cheaper one as the quality IS better... 8)

nuts? where? (think you mean we're! ;) ) I'd join in, but I've not set carbs up since I worked on Beetles.... and then I wasn't very good at it, that's why I like fuel injection.... 8)

you're best off taking both out else you'll have lots of fun trying to get the cam chain back on and getting 'em timed up properly!

I'll just be doing the good old, "adjust slightly and see if it's any better, then repeat until happy" method this weekend I'm afraid... :| At the same time I've gotta fit that new circlip which has been kicking around in the glovebox for AGES too...
-
used standard Golf G60 plumbing to fit standard Golf G60 intercooler... :) nice and simple... 8) Will be changing the pipework for new stuff once my nice metal and silicone ones turn up from Germany in the next day or so, purely 'cos the rubber pipes are a little past their best...

randal_24, fuktifeyeno... I've yet to get mine setup nicely... something I need to do this weekend before Monday... Andy T, nope, the only ones I know of who may be able to do it are Dubsport or Awesome as they do have a bit of a habit of doing odd things to Dubs and probably can just do it by eye now! If you find any, lemme know... ;)

change your gearbox mount and then get the cables set up properly... it'll be an allignment issue which is causing the resistance... 8)

*grins back with perfect teeth* :D

I'll let you know what they're like in real life when they turn up... 8)

Ah, but my engine, box and suspension ain't exactly standard so there's plenty of harshness and vibrations there already!  Yeah, like that's gonna happen... I may have gone a little mad with my rebuild, but I'm not completely insane! I've gotta drive this thing 16K a year!

jedi-knight83, yeah, I've done one before so I know it's not too bad a job on my car... 8) kevhaywire, shame J-DUB wasn't running properly at Inters so I couldn't give you a run in her then, else you could have had a comparative run in her after I do the mount... :|

have you checked the voltage at the fan jmuggali??? Seriously guys... think about it, a 2v drop to the motor is gonna mean that your fan is gonna be spinning 1/6th slower (assuming a normal DC motor linear speed-voltage relationship) That's gonna mean that your car is DEFINATELY gonna get hotter than it should... and all for the sake of a couple of relays and some wire... ;) I'll still write up a quick how to seeing as it's reasonably fresh in my mind... all I'm saying is don't discount the REALLY simple things before jumping to a conclusion... ;) 8)

What no-one else has pointed out yet is that the whole front subframe (which the mount attaches to) is mounted on rubber bushes too... as long as you make sure that these are in good condition then ANY mount you put on the front (solid, poly or rubber) shouldn't increase the vibration transmitted by much if at all... ;) It's only when you start doing all of the rest of the mounts with it that you'll start getting more and more vibrations... Anyone who was at the Stealth Rolling road session the other month and saw my car run will be able to tell you just how much my engine was moving as it was loaded up :| I need to do something pretty drastic to it to hold it in the car to be perfectly honest... I'll do a write up and install guide when I fit mine and make some comparisons before and after... 8)

You can get silicone ones from Germany and avoid Samco and their stupid waiting list times entirely! :D  8) (mine should be here within the next 24 hours! :D ) Even VW stated 5 to 10 working days to get the pipes over here...

Bummer dude... you have my sympathies... I hope it all works out OK for you. 8)

humm, let me get this right... something knocks the ignition switch and it goes off, knocks it again and it comes back on.... ??? I'm thinking dead ignition switch here... Common problem on VWs, about 30mins to fit (not including swearing!) and £20 for the part... 8)

I'm about to order mine from John in the morning... 8) (should tell you what my views are! )

eye, that's the American one I was thinking of too... mental bit of engineering.... 8)
-
disconnect BOTH passenger window switches, then try the switches one at a time in either location... That'll rule out wiring and switch faults...
-
'Ello and Welcome to The Forum.... 8) 8Vs are definately not common and the owners seem to be even rarer on here! No-one's filled in the 8V option on the "wotcha got" poll anyways... :| (subtle hint! ;) ) Anyway, Welcome... 8)

....apart from the colour coded engine cover... Looks great in those pics you've posted though... 8)

IIRC Nugget yellow wasn't available on face lift cars... :|
