I've always tested injectors by the good old "disconnect spark plugs / coil, pull out an injector and put it in a jamjar while cranking the engine for 20seconds" method... Do this on all 4 (6 in your case!) injectors and see if one it completely different from the rest... 8) Kinda crude but quite effective... 8) (bit like me! :D )

Nice one Ant, it'll be good to see the 'nana back on the road again... 8)

yeah, I keep going on a downer with mine... she's not running properly again at the moment... :( It's a year on Thursday since she blew up and out of that time I've only been able to drive her properly for about 3 weeks.. the rest of the 3 or 4 months driving has been bedding in and teething problems... I'm hoping that these new boost hoses will sort the problems out and all will be fine, as mechanically she's spot on, but the paint work keeps niggling at me as she really does need a respray... :( Problem is that I still love her to bits most of the time!

Sorry my friend has got on and used my name Temperature prob

I have deleted a post by ssssupercharged which was offensive and frankly uncalled for. I have also sent them a PM warning them not to do this again. Oh, and we also can tell what his IP address is and that you're not lying willscott20, ;) 8) Can I suggest you change your password NOW? ;) -
start saving! ;) Welcome to the forum... 8) The first thing you need to do is make sure that the engine is in good condition and has all the major weak points like cam-chains sorted while you're doing this... You're gonna need to alter the compression ratio somewhat and may find that you need to change the pistons to achieve this... I can't go into too many specifics as I don't have a VR6, but I'm sure someone on here will have done (or knows someone who's done) similar and will be along shortly to help... 8)

evo stick contact adhesive will sort it out... 8) Either that or a little bit of sykaflex...

I got all the instructions off the Matey-matey website and have an electrical and electronic engineering degree but I still ended up buying one of Gav's looms 'cos I just couldn't be bothered to make my own! 8) They're top quality and well worth it.... 8)

erm Storm Grey Metallic LK7Y 1994 Think he may be referring to the colour Dazzy... ;)

 woah, those things are just silly...

with you on that one dr_mat... see what happens if you clear the memory after changing that switch... I don't know too much about the ABS pump itself, it's an area I've (thankfully [touch wood] ) never had go wrong on my car, so I've yet to learn about it in depth, but there's people here who have gone in a bit deeper who may be able to help... 8)

I'd be thinking along the lines of Dizzy and hall sender to be honest, but John's got the kit and should be able to test all that lot if you can get booked in with him.... 8)

dunno about the torque... I just did 'em up in my normal "that's fecking tight and ain't gonna fall out" fashion....  Saying that, I tend to use all new stainless bolts when I do jobs like this just to stop the chance of 'em snapping... ;)

Bought some Passat rear handles and locks today, but...

ah! death by Kronenbourg... thought I'd done that to myself on Sunday.... :pukeright:  -
OK, from your forum name, I'm guessing it's a 2.0 16V... some more details on the model would be useful... ;) Have a word with John Mitchell (16VG60) as he's down in Rustington and (if he can squeeze you in) should be able to sort out your problem... 8)

this actually sounds like you have an injector which has stuck open on cylinder 1. The matt blackness sounds to me like being carbon caused by inefficient burning of the fuel (ie it's running stupidly rich 'cos it's just throwing fuel in to that cylinder) and the nasty smell is 'cos you are throwing petrol down the exhaust and into the cat... Definately worth getting someone to flow test your injectors IMHO... 8)

If you get a second hand intercooler, make sure that the rubber pipes are in excellent condition... :| I'm in the process of replacing mine after I've burst one (don't ask! ) VAG prices for rubber pipes are truely horrible... Supercharger outlet to Intercooler £105.57 Intercooler to Plastic pipe £57.21 Pipe to Throttle body £75.18 Gasket for Supercharger outlet £22.77 All + VAT!  You need all 3 of those rubber pipes, the 180degree supercharger outlet pipe (with support bracket) plastic pipe (which houses the CO pot) and the actual intercooler itself to make up the full kit... 8) Just don't ask VAG how much they want for a new intercooler unless you're off you head on something strong! :x

Track days? Moi? The avatar is from the Club GTI day at Curborough with me giving it a little bit too much into the hairpin!  That was my first track day, and sure as hell ain't gonna be my last either! ;) All I'm gonna say is "7 days and counting..." ;) ;) ;) ;) I've not done a track day in anything else yet though, but I have done a "red letter day" which was 4x4 and off roaders in the morning and then Tanks and the like in the afternoon! Awesome fun! I soooo want a tank!   Clamp that ya ba$tards! ;)

the rallye one is identical in core size, it's only the inlet which is different (closest in that pic)... 8) The Golf one just bolts straight into the Corrado with a very few minor alterations to allow clearance for the headlamps... 8) After I'd worked out which bits needed modding on the front of the intercooler and attacked it with my anglegrinder it took about an hour to fit it including all of the pipework and everything... 8)
-
as stated above, the airconditioned golfs had a smaller intercooler which would get as near as damn it NO airflow through it if used on a Corrado... They weren't much good on the golf, so they'd be bloody awful on a Corrado! The NON air-con Golf G60 intercooler is full width... here's a pic of mine just as I was fitting it, you can see the radiator behind it is small in comparison! :| 8) An important thing to remember when selecting an intercooler is the pipework... if the pipes are in the wrong places then you'll either make it far too much work for the intercooler to be viable, or you'll need so much pipework with so many twists and turns that the flow through the cooler will be pants and you may as well just fart into the throttle instead of having the supercharger!
-
The Golf G60 intercooler is what I've got on my car, it's sodding enormous and VERY efficient! :) 8) definately worth the money they go for (should be around £400 -> £500 with all pipes and 180degree charger outlet) To be honest, it's difficult to get worse than the original Corrado intercooler 'cos it was soooooo small and just got heatsoaked sooo quickly... The aircon Golf's version is about double the size of the standard Corrado intercooler and sits on top of the engine just perfectly where it can get sod all air flow and get nicely heated by the engine... avoid as much as you can! ;)

the two short flexy hoses go onto the joint of the rear axle where it attaches to the chassis... they're a pig to get at... :|
-
nah, you don't need all of that lot corradovr6sc... solomk1, Have a word with PhatVR6 as he's just put his VR6 engine into a late 8V Corrado in pretty quick time... 8)
-
you are talking about a SERIOUS project there... this isn't just a plug and play swap like the 20VT or 1.9TDI conversions are, you're talking about a radical re-engineering of the car and running gear... :| Having said that, as mentioned above, someone did it to a MKI golf, so it should go into a Corrado but don't think it's gonna be easy, cheap or quick to do! Good luck, should be something a little special if you get it working... 8)
-
you also need a VR slam panel to do it properly else the radiator won't fit properly as the VR6 panel has an extra mounting location for the rad. :?
