  1. does your rear washer work? I'm pretty certain that that's the pipe for the washer jet! :?

    ABS VAGCOM codes

GAFFA TAPE TO THE RESCUE!!!   Yup, the light is seriously bright and annoying, and I don't particularly like ABS anyway so I now have a small piece of gaffa stuck over it to hide the light... Almost looks factory! ;) Remember, ALL problems can be solved with the correct application of Gaffa tape! 8)

    Ventura springs ?

yup, that's what they were.... :| naaaasssstttyyyyyy.... :(
  4. there are 4 positions on the switch (Honest, bear with me! ;) ) 1) Accessory 2) Ignition on 3) Start 4) Ignition switched back off, but key not removed... Keeps the Accessory power on and keeps the steering lock off. The wiring to the radio originally had 2 power feeds to it (not including lighting circuit) Permanent live (thin brown wire with red stripe IIRC) Ignition (also known as accessory) live (thickish red wire IIRC) Your head unit will need a permanent live for the memory functions and the accessory feed to make it so that the stereo will only turn on when the key is in the switch... I've always re-wired my stereos so that they are permanetly live on both wires 'cos I like to be able to use my stereo without the key in the ignition (especially so I can watch TV at shows without leaving the key in the lock! ;) ) You'll also find that there will probably be a wire to connect to the handbrake warning lamp to make sure you can't watch TV while driving... Mine's connected to an earth so that I can watch the screen whenever and where-ever I like!
  5. Kev, I'm also running 205/45/16s... 8)
  6. I was running a Golf Driver as well as my Corrado while I was finishing the rebuild on the Corrado... HIC sorted me out with a "mirror" policy where I got a completely seperate policy which just used the no-claims from my Corrado to lower the price... That came in at around £200 for the year... The bit which annoyed me the most was the road tax... I still don't get why I should have to pay for 2 cars to be taxed when I can only drive one at a time... If you do buy a second car, make sure it's in the lower tax band... something my MKII driver isn't... :( I'll be selling my driver soon (once the Corrado's finally been in for a respray) and I'll probably end up buying a little diesel of some sort to use as a workhorse/ backup/ bad weather car...
  7. I find that I now get much less wheel spin than I used to get before my engine rebuild which can only be down to the LSD 'cos that's the only bit I've changed which would explain it... 8) Most experts reckon that anything over 250BHP is wasted in a FWD roadcar as you physically can't get the grip to put that kinda power to any use without masses of wheelspin... :|
  8. The ignition switch on all Corrados is the same... They DO have an accessory setting wire on them for the stereo as standard, but trying to find the wire on a 14 year old car that's probably had 2 or 3 stereos in it could now be interesting... :?
  9. That's the rear engined one that been ongoing for a while now... Can't remember who it was doing it though... :?
  10. with ya there Rodders... they'd dropped the colour before the VR6 came out... I remember Top Gear doing a review of 'em and saying that the yellow ones were re-selling for £1000 less than any other colour 'cos there was a lack of demand for 'em.... :? Odd thing is that I always liked Nuggets... 8)
  11. mmm.. Porsche Nile Green.... 8) ;) Daz, you really do need help! :|

    revs die......

dunno, but for the price of 'em, is it worth risking it? ;)
  13. BOTH! ;) If you wanna stay 2wd, putting in an LSD makes one shed load of difference... 8) :D
  14. you'd need a low WATTAGE bulb to reduce the heat... low Voltage would make it brighter/hotter and last lots less time... ;)
  15. erm, NO corrados were built in the US... :| They were built in Osnabruck in Germany at the Karmann factory...
  16. general opinion is that there were just over 9000 Corrados brought into the UK... No idea on numbers registered per year though... :| Yes RadoAds, there were a few P plates registered too... 8)
  17. kevhaywire, go-on... these'd look lovely on your motor... 8)

    revs die......

time to buy a new dizzy cap and rotor arm IMHO... ;) 8)
  19. ask John Mitchell (16VG60) or Alex (Aposegil) about the 16V conversions (it can be done! ;) ) 2litre is also possible, but is most definately not cheap to do... It needs some totally different pistons to get the compression ratios correct and allow for the stresses, heats and general abuse the G60 engine gets... I aimed to build a 2000cc G60 when I started my project, but ended up with 1940cc as this was the best compromise we could get to without having to custom machine stuff and run the risk of using unknown parts... Seems we were proven wise the other weekend when Vince at Stealth commented that it was the best G60 engine he's ever seen on the rollers... 8) :D John Mitchell of JMR (16VG60) organised the spec and block work on my car and is well worth talking to... 8) :D
  20. Autometer guages rock! :) Oh, and they don't have TURBO splattered across them either... :| I got mine from http://www.VWSpeedshop.co.uk 'cos they have great prices and are on my way home from work as a nice bonus! :D 8)
  21. pump (around £25 for the complete unit from Euro or GSF) and the O ring too... Pretty easy to do on the valvers as you won't need to remove the supercharger and other gubbins like on a G60... 8) Oh, and yes, it's belt driven... 8) Get hold of a Golf MKII Haynes manual as the engine is identical to the one used in the Golf... 8)
