  1. http://www.amber-performance.co.uk/ did the Club-GTI samco group buy... and said... none in stock... 6 weeks wait from Samco...
  2. Is that right?!? Great feature Daz... nice one... 8)
  3. I spelt it wrong... Get your Nitromors here 8)
  4. which engine? Sounds very much like your cam timing is out by a tooth or two... check this out and if it's OK, then check the ignition timing (you should be able to get it roughly in the correct place by eye. At TDC on 1, the rotor arm (if it's a G60) should be pointing at the little groove in the side of the dizzy and that should be plug No.1 8) Good luck! 8)
  5. yup, also known as a fan belt! 1H0 119 137A It's 4.68x860mm aparently according to Etka too... ;) 8)
  6. oops, where are my manners.... Well done on restoring another Corrado back to it's former glory... 8) It's nice to know there are people out there who'll put the work in to repair one instead of breaking it... 8) Good for you... 8)
  7. someone (gazzaG60? ) was talking to me about some handles available from Japan via Ebay which were totally different looking and a simple bolt on replacement... Can't for the life of me remember what they were, but they sounded great... :?
  8. Nitromores.... :) Wear gloves though... ;) That's the way we used to do Beetles when I worked in a specialists place.... LOTS of nitromores, googles and big thick rubber gloves... :D
  9. ...saying that, I'm kinda with kvwloon here... I'd love to take my G60 into a VW workshop and watch them try to work out how to service it.... ;) Yeah, It's a Corrado G60... mostly! ;)
  10. I'm putting between 16 and 20K per year onto my Corrado... at the end of the day it's a car, but it's a car which normally puts a smile on my face on the way to and from work which I know I wouldn't have got from any other car I could have bought for what I've spent on J-DUB.... 8) I've not bought her and spent what I have on her to make money, or as an investment... I've done it for ME to enjoy and to prove to myself and a few others that I CAN do something like this.... 8) I think it's sad to see a car like the Corrado locked away somewhere, never being used or enjoyed.... What's the point? Odds are in 10 to 15 years they'll be pretty much outlawed, or just priced/taxed off the roads anyway so enjoy 'em while you've got 'em! :D  If you wanna make money, stick it in the bank in a high interest account...
  11. My car has more personality than some of the "people" I work with... Oh, and she's DEFINATELY female... Tempremental, moody, often unpredictable, expensive to keep happy, takes up most of my time and attention, rewards me LOTS of pleasure and makes me feel good as well as p!$$ing me off more than needed when feeling slightly neglected! A typical female in my experience! 8) *runs off and hides from the backlash with his flameproof suit on....*
  12. I'm gonna have to make up a stamp for myself so I can keep a record of when I service my car... ;) No way on this planet my C is EVER going into a Stealers to get any work done... :|
  13. A mate of mine stores his classic Alfa Spyder over the winter every year... He got in touch with a local storage place and they keep the car in their warehouse for him... Think it costs him a couple of hundred quid a year for the storage, but that's insured by them, it's secure (with BIG dogs!) and he can visit it any time he likes... 8) Oh, it's also heated and dry too, so less likely to encourage the old dreaded tin-worms to strike... kinda essential on an Italian car! ;)
  14. if that's the washer pipe, then I'd bet that your spoiler mechanism has rusted up 'cos it's had water pumped onto it instead of onto the rear window... :|
  15. it's a rebuild/replacement cost agreement.... the resale value is irrelevant 'cos there's no way you'd get back what you put into a modified car... :| You can get an engineers or specialists report done on the car which they will take into account... I'm gonna try and get John Mitchell to do one on my car (he doesn't know yet, but he's offered in the past! ) while I'm down that end of the country on holiday 'cos he's an MOT tester, a specialist and has supplied quite a lot of the parts on my car so can give a good report on it.. Plus it'd be nice to be able to show him what all the work has achieved as I don't think he's actually seen it properly yet... 8)
  16. it could because mine's so modified they'll do it.... Some companies wouldn't touch it 'cos "it's got more than 5 engine modifications done to it"... :? Yeah, it's got more than that this week!
  17. Ooh, nice find there Jim... it's actually THIS pipe I need, the one you've posted is Rallye only... 8) I'll talk to Pitstop and G-man tonight/ in the morning to get some ideas from them too... 8)
  18. yeah, it's held together with a combination of Gaffa tape, self amalgamating tape and luck at the moment so I can push about 6 PSI at the moment before it leaks (better than the 1psi I got on the way to work this morning! :| ) but the pipe's gone all soggy and nasty so it really does need replacing... :( Anyone else know of any suppliers? 8)
  19. oh.... :? Erm... odd... wait until the OBD scan and see what codes it throws at you in that case... :|
  20. got agreed value in negotiation with Adrian Flux at the moment... I've only just taken out the policy so I've got to send them lots of photos, details and receipts to prove the value and the work done... I wish I could see the look on their faces when the BOX lands on their desk with the receipts and stuff in it! 8) Cost another £20ish on top of the normal cost... 8)
  21. Personally, I'd just plug it in and see what happens... but that's just my way! ;) From your photos it doesn't look like the wiring's been damaged, just that the brain was missing... :?
  22. OK, so I've found out why my G60 has been getting more and more sluggish over the last month or so and has lost that, oh-so-special, urgency she had just after the mapping session... I've got a blown boost pipe...  2" split in the main pipe into the intercooler... :| So, question time... (which may get made into a sticky) Who supplies boost hoses (rubber OR silicone) and what sort of delivery times can they meet? My car uses Golf G60 hoses 'cos of the Golf Intercooler, so here's a selection of peeps that I've called so far to try and source the 3 rubber pipes... VAG will order in for next day, or 5 to 10 working days depending on stock, for £237.96 +VAT! Demon Tweeks - None in stock, but normally £150 for samco with a 5 to 9 week wait! TSR - checking their suppliers for me - None in stock, 6 weeks wait from Samco, very helpful though... Dubsport - may have them on the shelf, but the guy who deals with this is on holiday today... will call me back in the morning none on the shelf, again 6 week wait from Samco... Jabba - Went off to research the price and phoned back with £281.88 all in for VAG hoses and said that they wouldn't recommend Samco's 'cos they'll just blow off and will cost more anyway... :| Venom motorsport - Don't sell this kind of thing, but gave me AwesomeGTI and Dubsports number and was generally helpful as normal Awesome GTI - None in stock, but normally £120 + Vat for Samcos. Again, 5 to 9 week wait... :| Post up any ideas you have, and I'll add 'em onto the list after calling 'em... 8)
  23. Ah, bugger, didn't know that, sorry... Another benefit of being single I suppose... ;)
