  1. on the later UK VR6s it's built into the heater matrix which is why they were not covered by the recall... 8) On earlier cars, the valves are in the engine bay, in the pipes just as they go through the bulkhead...

    Flat Spots!

n8047035, Lambda sensor's probably dead in that case....
  3. I'm getting around 320miles outta my G60 on my daily commute into manchester and back, slightly more on a long run... That's with about £50 going into the tank, so around 56 litres 1 litre = 0.21997 UK Gallon which means I'm getting around 26mpg sat in traffic on the way to work and back... 8) Not too bad for a 220BHP car! :D

    top bloke

yes, they do need running in... Give Daz a ring to check what his running in directions are... 8)

    Fog lights fuse

turn 'em off, put a new fuse in, turn on the fronts only and see if it blows, if it doesn't turn on the rears too and see if it blows then... which ever one it blows on, the odds are that one of your bulbs has blown and shorted out so it's blowing the fuse... Unless it's blowing the fuse with them switched off, in which case you've got either a broken switch or some dodgy/broken wires... :|

    Awesome

You mean "GIT".... ;) I'm not jealous, oh no, not me...
  7. I'm still dying to find out who the guy with the Boxster I keep annoying on the way into work most mornings is... he doesn't work all that far from me, and he gets onto the M56 at the same junction as me.... First time I remember seeing him, I left him for dead getting onto the M56... he then came storming past me a few moments later at about 120 (as I was sat happily at 85ish) with a look of sheer death on his face! Think he's realised there may be something a little abnormal about my Corrado now though, as he tends to get along side an have a look or just sit patiently behind me now and follow my lead onto the motorway! 8) One of my work collegues was telling me that his car would out handle, out perform and out power my car not long ago, so I showed him the pic of me on 3 wheels, the timing slips from Pod and the rolling road print out and he kinda went quiet and asked if he could have a go in my car sometime soon! it's just a pity his looks nicer than mine at the moment (Alfa GTV) only 'cos the paint on mine's in need of attention... :(
  8. probably seen you about HE-MAN, I work in Salford Quays and drive home thru Chorlton every night... My G60's kinda noticable with the front bumper she's wearing at the moment and mad noise she makes when she's running... ;) 8)
  9. Whose C's were you weighing?!? mine weigh no where near that much! :?
  10. 8) I'm good at answers like that... part of the reason my domain is randomlogic.co.uk ! ;)
  11. The valve is only there to prevent the matrix (core) EXPLODING due to being blocked/overpressurising... it won't stop it from leaking and steaming up the widscreen... :? VW got a little (!) scared by the fact that the original heater matrixes used to get bunged up with cr@p pressurise and then explode showering feet in the front foot wells with 90degree+ C coolant.... :| so they implemented the recall and fitted a valve which allows the back pressure to vent back into the engine's coolant system which can easily handle the extra pressure.... VW then said they'd replace matrixes which leaked because they'd been over-pressured before the valves were inserted...
  12. A burberry roof cover?!? :pukeleft:  Seriously mate, have a word with a local sign writing/making place, they'll sort you out with the vinyl you need cheap enough.... ;) 8)
  13. if you're sticking 'em on so you can have the audi handles fitted as per your other thread, why not just use these late ones as the temp ones, and have the handles fitted to your original doors while they are off? That way you can sell on the new doors afterward your doors are ready and get to keep the original doors on which you KNOW will fit properly... It may even save you a bit on the paintwork 'cos they'll already be the correct colour on the inside and outside so it may just be a quick touch up rather than a full door respray... ;)
  14. the link will sort it out properly for you... 8) to check to see if you have the recall valves fitted, (just out of curiosity) have a look at the pipework in the engine bay which goes through the bulkhead into the passenger area. If the pipes just go straight into the holes and into the cabin then there's no valve... if there is a cylinder in each pipe which are connected together, then that's the recall valve and you have no worries at all about how you drove it with the pipes blocked... 8) To be honest, the distance you drove with it blocked shouldn't have done much anyways, so you should be OK... 8)
  15. I'm pretty certain that the US Corrados ALL should have had the recall valves fitted, so as long as you plugged the pipes right up close to the matrix (core) then you should be OK as the valves will route the coolant back around the system bypassing the matrix (core)... I wouldn't run it like that for long, but if you've not been hammering it anywhere you should be OK... 8)
  16. nah, mate of mine had saturns on his Apex Levin import thing... The replacement Saturn2s had a center cover though but I don't think they were as nice... :|
  17. think I'd start to have a heart attack and have to pinch myself to wake up if that ever happened!
  18. oops, my bad, it's actually on Ebay... Click here

    G60 Battery Drain

my tip is to remove the bulb from the light in the boot... ;)
  20. On Escorts and Fiestas, you're better off buying genuine wishbones complete with the bushes, when the bushes go, it damages the housing, so if you try and use new bushes in old arms, they still slop about everywhere and wear out in a matter of months... Shocks aren't too expensive from the dealer either IIRC, and most servicing parts are available from any local motor factors... 8) (No, I've never owned a Ford, ;) My best mate's a mechanic who often swears about Escort and Fiesta wishbones and how many of the F$%~ing things he's done that week when we go out on a Thursday night for a pre-weekend beer!  )
  21. Glad you got it all sorted emax 8) 1.5hours from a garage isn't too bad, that could be explained away by a damaged screw or similar if it had been replaced in the past... Good luck with it (and the move and baby) sounds like you're gonna be busy in the close future! :D
  22. I seem to remember that they are VERY similar, but the mounting point on the blade is in a very slightly different place on them so they may foul on the outside of the screen... The reason everyone uses the Lupo ones is 'cos the Lupo GTI was the first to get this style of blade out of the VAG range which were anywhere near close... now that they're fitting them to most of their cars (and not just the GTIs) there's probably an even better solution out there... 8)
  23. biggerbigneil, OZ saturns look very similar to the Borbet's too... there's a C in the autotrader at the mo' which has these on it... first time I've seen 'em on a C (aqua VR6 IIRC) and they look spot on... 8)
  24. change those sensors mate, they're the cheap end of the scale for what the fault could be... at least if you've put new water temp senders in, you'll know that they're OK afterwards and for the sake of less than £15 is it worth the hassle of not being sure if it is or isn't their fault? ;) Simple to change too... just need a flat blade screwdriver... 8) Make sure you get new seals with them too though, as the rubber O ring which they sit in will be knackered when you remove it... 1) with the engine cold, carefully remove the expansion tank cap to make sure there's no pressure in the system. refit the cap and tighten again 2) disconnect the wiring from both sensors 3) hook the flat blade screwdriver under the retaining clip end and lever out from the mounting flange. 4) grab the top of the sensor and with a slight twisting action pull the sensor straight up and out of the flange.... it may need a little twist with the aid of a pair of pliers if it's been in there a long while... 5) make sure you've got the O ring out as well (it'll either be on the old sensor or you'll need to hook it out of the plastic housing with the screwdriver) 6) smear a little grease onto the new O ring and fit it over the new sensor 7) put the sensor into the housing and gently push it into place by hand 8) replace the retaining clip. 9) repeat steps 3 to 8 for the other sensor 10) reconnect wiring and start the car... See if it's any better.... 8)
  25. if you are after a checker sytle thing like on a Mini roof, go and have a word with a local signs place... they'll supply the stuff you need reasonably cheap and cut it to the sizes you want... If you're doing what I think you're doing, then you don't want Mohair as that wouldn't work very well.... ;)
