Excuse the "rally look" mud splatter... I'd had to drive into a field (somewhat quickly) to avoid a lorry squashing me after doing an emergency stop due to a major car crash on the road in front of me (someone flipped their car... ) The lorry driver behind me hadn't been concentrating (I reckon he was on the phone) and stopped about 4 feet into the space my car would have been in if I hadn't noticed he wasn't paying attention and that there was an open gate! :| He was somewhat apologetic (and a damn site bigger than me) when I went and confronted him about it... ;) :oops: :lol: Anywho, here's the pic on her new boots... 8.5x17 with 235 45 tyres... 8) -
bet you can pick 'em up off ebay.de... ;) (not a subtle hint or anything... ;) :lol: )

yup, you go from "ooh, lots of air, let's throw lots of fuel in" to "Whaaaa, someone's just throttled me!" in a split second and the ecu just can't react fast enough to get the fuelling right (or metering head if it's KE-Jet) so the car stalls... some ECUs (such as digipants for example) are slow enough that it takes them a little while to notice, (mainly due to where the sensors are located) so they don't suffer as much and may not need a damper... ;)

yup, stops the throttle slamming shut and stalling the engine in the process... 8)

very very very nearly bought a 944S instead of J-DUB but thought that the 'Rado was a much better bet than the porker... The missus and I have been talking about getting a porker soon... probably be a new one though... :crazyeyes: 8) -

also buy the plastic housing from the bottom of the waterpump... it WILL crack if you try to use the original one again... :roll:

you couldn't... you'd have to make one... and it'd probably also stop your engine from running and get you arrested for broadcasting on frequencies you don't have a licence to broadcast on unless you REALLY knew what you were doing... :|

never seen one.... use a T piece and get a temp sensor from GSF for about £1.50.... T-pieces are about £4 from Demon Tweeks.

the PS pipe is oily on EVERY Corrado I've ever seen under (except A20LEE, but that's 'cos he cleaned his! ;) )

there is a VERY easy way to disable it, but if your car has an ECU, it may also stop the car from running... *hides RF interference noise generator* ;) :lol:

the guy in the ferrari 355 I was in was urging me to really go for it.... at the end of the day it turned out I was the only person there to have got it flat to the floor in 6th down the main straight! 8) No idea what speed I was doing, (the speedo's blanked out to stop people watching it more than the track!) but it was at 5000rpm+ just before we had to brake for the corner! 8)

yup, if you change the idle, you need to have disconnected the BTS before you adjust it... rev to over 3K 3 times to reset the ISV the same as the GTI (it's basically the same digifant system, just with a MAP sensor inside the ECU... 8) )

a hall sensor is simply a small coil of wire which picks up the passing of a magnet and gives out an electrical pulse. The only ways this can send a signal at the wrong time are if the magnet, or coil have moved in relation to the body of the distributor... It's not impossible, but it's very, very unlikely... When hall senders tend to fail, the coil develops a crack in the wire which intermittently causes the sensor to fail to give a signal when the magnet passes, resulting in a misfire... over time, the crack grows and eventually the coil fails completely leaving you with a dead engine due to loss of spark... :| There are only 7 things that I can think of which would effect timing on a G60 causing pinking: 1) The 100cm vacuum tube from the throttle body to the MAP sensor which alters the timing via the ECU 2) The knock sensor which alters the timing via the ECU. 3) The ECU map being incorrect for the spec of the engine 4) A faulty ECU 5) crap fuel causing premature ignition within the engine (which is what pinking is) 6) a loose dizzy (although you'd know about this when you check the timing!) 7) incorrect grade of spark plugs. the 355 at silverstone was quite a new one and was a blast to drive... The 911 was a bit older, but other than the gearshift being a little sloppy, was nice and tight to drive... The lotus was almost new and I hated it 'cos it was too small for me and my big feet... :(

Disabling trackers depends on which type of tracking unit is fitted... some use purely GPS, some use GPS and GSM, while others tap into the ABS sensors so that they can tell if the vehicle is moved while it's not got a GPS signal (for example in a multi-story carpark...) GPS ones are reasonably easy to block the GPS signal from getting to the unit and therefore stopping it from logging any journeys you make. GPS/GSM ones can have a built in triangulation system which will send SMS texts at various times to locate the unit via the GSM network... stopping the messages will ring bells if it happens at regular intervals... With the ABS tapped ones, there's not really a simple way to get around them, unless you can disconnect the ABS and block the GPS signal somehow.... Bear in mind that if you do manage to get around the tracker so you can use the vehicle, at the end of the year you ARE going to get caught when they add up the milage the tracker claims you've done and compare it with the actual milage on the odometer... Oh, and don't forget the fact that if they've been fitted for insurance reasons and you disable it, you are driving the vehicle without valid insurance and if you get stopped for any reason (god help you if you have an accident) then you WILL get shafted royally... :|

it was a driver briefing followed by 3 laps in a Lotus Exige, 3 laps in a 911, 3 laps in a Ferarri 355 and then a passenger lap with a complete mentalist in a race tuned lotus exige... I swear we spent more time with less than 4 wheels on the track than we did with them all touching!!! :lol:

'lo Alex... Wanna buy a cheap Corrado with loads of history that's just wanting an engine transplant? (J-Dub's going for sale shortly for much cheapness!) Good to see you looking to come back to the fold... 8) -
vac pipe from the throttle to the ECU is probably the cause of the initial bogging down problem.. needs to be exactly 100cm long. Timing problem does sound like either a dead hall sender in the dizzy to me too... :|

yup, another vote for Silverstone... excellent instructors, great condition cars (although the gearchange on the 911s was very soggy and needed re-bushing... :lol: ) and a fantastic circuit to boot!

Top Marques in Stoke will do a proper job (that's who I've used loads) Or: Greenspeed powdercoaters in Macclesfield will get 'em shot blasted and then re-coat 'em in any colour you wish for reasonable money... used them for all my engine powdercoating... 8)

wow, what a superb thread... will be keeping a close eye on this as I've had a couple of silly ideas that this may help to try and get some serious extra power outta my Corrado... 8) Much Kudos to those trying this and posting up their progress and results... 8) :notworthy:
