could be that you're due a service and the air filter and oil need a change? You'd be amazed at the difference simply changing a slightly mucky air filter can make to an FI car... ;)
-
yup, rolling road differences, temperature differences (both ambient and engine), intercooler cooling fins could be clogged up with 3 years more road crud etc etc etc... Hell, even a dodgy batch of fuel could well knock 10% off your power....
-
filled my Rat up from empty for £55 the other day... that's another 650miles until I need to go to the pump again... Think it was about 92.9p/litre for diseasle... 8)

G60 DOES have a limp mode which is normally triggered by low battery voltages... ;)
-
http://www.greenweld.co.uk sells it... but it's not exactly cheap, although a £6 bit will do both screens on a 'rado's dash...

VR6 clutch kit is more than upto the job for a G60... Bear in mind that some of the VR guys are now throwing 280+ bhp through a standard clutch and (I think I'm right in saying that) I'm currently throwing the most BHP (251.6BHP) from a G60 Corrado through a VR6 clutch with no problems, as long as you get a good VR clutch, you'll be fine... 8)

I just noticed that link... Good work Jim! 8)

glad to hear that all your hard work has finally paid off mate... 8)

I'd go Passat or A6 to be honest... probably with the 20VT engine if fuel economy isn't an issue (it is for me, hence the estate 'Rat TDI I just bought!) The A4 avant only has slightly more room in the back than a Golf and I was well dissapointed by how they drove when I tested a couple of 'em.... :( Bear in mind that the 'rat is more likely to not loose much more cash, especially if you buy a slightly higher milage one and are only putting 4 miles a day on it!
-
how's that chip holding up? Is it still reasonable on the fuelling, or is it lean or rich throughout the rev range? sounding like this one may be a good engine anyway... just wait until you hit over 10,000 miles and look at the grin on your face then! ;)
-
that's your problem then!

get the car upto temp. Disconnect the blue temp sensor and rev 3x to over 3000rpm. Adjust the brass idle screw (on the back of the throttle body) so your idle is pretty much where you want it. Rev 3x to over 3000rpm and let the car idle. Repeat until you're happy with the idle speed. Reconnect the blue temp sensor... done.... 8)

gonna get a set for my 'rat estate as it's flippin' huge and I can't work out where the overhang ends!
-
just registered on there... Cheers Andrew... 8) I've just picked her up from Leeds and driven her to a tyre place to get 2 new tyres on (I like Costco, they're mucho cheapo for Michelin tyres! 8) ) and then drove her home... Damn, she's lively for such a huge barge! ;) 48MPG+ on the way from Leeds to Manchester in heavy slow traffic.... why haven't I bought one of these before now?!?

Sweeeeet.... And to think I thought I had a bit of a mission on trying to buy a car to get me down to E38 this week... Probably could have built one of the 3 I've already got up into a working car again in the time I've spent trying to find a new one! Can't wait to see (and hear!) this at E38 Daz... 8)

Just added my new 'rat estate onto my policy for the nice additional sum of £330 so I can now drive either car whenever I feel (or at least when the 'rado will let me!  ) Big up for John at Brentacre for being an all round nice guy and doing me a damned good deal... 8)

Well, I put a deposit down on a silver W plate (2000) 115bhp 1.9tdi SE Passat estate last night which I'm going up to Leeds to collect at Lunchtime today... 8) She's got a FSH and all the normal SE toys and I'm well chuffed with her... 8) I'm looking forwards to 50mpg+ rather than the 18 I got with the 'rado!

M621 J6... I'm gonna phone him now to let him know I'm on my way and see if the other bloke's turned up yet as the seller was dead reasonable... 8)

AARRRGGGHHH!!! the guy selling the one I was supposed to be buying tonight has turned out to be a royal pain in the ass... he's not actually got it yet (even though he was supposed to be getting it on Wednesday...) and has said that there's someone else in line in front of me even though I was assured I'd be first in line for it... I've found another one in Leeds, but there's supposedly someone on their way to see it now, so it may have already gone by the time I get there... :( Anyway, the car should have been a Passat TDI estate, and I was playing with getting a 2.5 V6 version, but would have settled for a 1.9 with 115bhp or higher... (still the biggest sized engine in any car I've bought as my 1940cc I built after buying the car as a 1781cc! ) These things sell like hot cakes, it's a real pain in the ass trying to get a good one for reasonable cash... :|

makes me glad I'm no-longer classed as a young man then... 8)

yup... pretty much just that... 2 screws in lower surround corners and 2 at the top then there's 2 screws on the outside of the cluster to allow it to hinge forwards from the bottom (top comes towards you, then the whole thing should lift out after you disconnect the multiplug) If you drop the steering wheel to it's lowest setting, you should be able to get the clocks out without doing anything else... 8)

Works well in Germany and several other European countries.... Problem is that we have too many lane hoggers in this country already and they won't want to drive on the hard shoulder if it means not being in the middle lane anymore...

EBAY!.... 8)

that's the same kit I've got too... 8) (although mine's a reversed LCD 'cos I'm a bit like that! )
