  1. At a guess Blown ABT will have supplied the front bumper on their car... They've since stopped doing older stuff and seem to only do stuff for cars that are still available brand new... :? German Ebay's probably your only chance to get hold of one of these now... If they were ever released... :?
  2. yeah, I just wondered, that's all... The badge being offset just made me think that it looked like there was something missing from there....

    ZYMOL Wax

FurkiG60 Acetone (Nail polish remover) disolves superglue and won't damage your paint 'cos it evaporates too quickly... It may take the shine off a bit though, so you may have to polish the bit you've got superglue on afterwards... 8)
  4. Oh, OK... Just wondered... 8)

    Wet Carpet!

To be fair, it's a BIG door on a 'rado... After 8+ years of use, it's not suprising that the hinges have sagged slightly... :? 8) Check the gap all the way around the door... It should be even ALL the way around, if it's narrower by the bottom outer corner and wider on the corner above the mirror, then it's sagging... 8)
  6. Andi, you've still got a way 'til you catch up with J-Dub! :? Anyone know where I can get my clocks put back to the correct milage so that she's not clocked any more? It'd be weird to see her with the 250,000 miles or so on the clock, but, that's almost what she's done... :? Oh, and somewhere that doesn't charge the earth to do it would be nice too...
  7. Is anyone else thinking that Jedi's 'rado may actually BE a storm that some little oik has nicked the badges off?!? Especially with the VR6 badge being in the wrong place... Oi, Jedi! have you checked at the dealer that this ISN'T a storm?!? :? Just wondering... I've only ever seen Storms in passing, so I wouldn't know... But something just makes me go "mmmmmmmmmmmm...."

Try GPC for the door seal: http://www.gpcvwaudi.com 8)
  9. Humm, fixed spoiler, boot lock in rear panel, quarter light front windows, MKI GTI-esque side stripes with no rubbing strips, no sunroof, a VERY square looking dash (MKII golf?), no wing mirrors, 3 slat front grille, and polished rim alloys... :? Some nice touches, some not... 8) I wonder if that's the one that they found out about the dodgy hi speed handling in which caused them to put the active spoiler on? :? I've not seen those photos before... Thanks... 8) And a Corrado ESTATE?!? :?
  10. Cool! 8) Goes to show how well these cars were built that a good 80% of 'em are now well over 100,000 miles and going strong doesn't it? 8) I had a great one of my MKI golf 16V, 120MPH @ 120,000 miles with the needle well off the end of the rev counter! :? Somehow I don't think I'll be able to do that at the next significant milage in my C though... 250,000 miles @ 250MPH?!? :? Although, at the rate my C racks up the miles, betcha mine'll be first to 654,321 miles!

    woah... lotsabits...
  12. I asked that same question AGES ago and after a lot of too-ing and fro-ing it turns out that there isn't a speaker under that grille, and there's almost no space in there to mount one. It's there to cover some mounting points or something... 8) I'll see if I can dig out the old thread and add a link... *Edit* Wow, that took some searching... This place is getting BIG these days! 8) :D Anyway, here's the Link to the Mystery Dashboard Grill Thread 8)
  13. But the intercooler I want won't fit behind a standard one, and my original one is knackered anyway... I think it's an personal thing if you like 'em or not... Personally I REALLY like the original look of the C, but I also like the slightly meaner, more agressive look of the RS2 front bumper... 8) Each to their own, I suppose...
  14. Cheers Alex, Don't worry about it mate, I've not been searching that hard to be honest... I'd pretty much given up until I just called Venom about something else and asked out of interest... :? Thanks for your info from a while ago though, that was really useful. 8)

    Corrado G60 Storm?

It's a typo... When you cut and paste it, it reads like it's supposed to... I personally would say that this is somewhat overpriced... 2K with a dodgy head gasket, in need of TLC and has been stood for 6 months?!? hummm... Saying that, it does have VWSH and is low milage for a G60.... :? Probably worth a look... You may be able to beat him down on price... If you go, go armed with a copy of autotrader with a load of 'rados in it that are better condition for similar prices and see what you can do...
  17. I'll be there...  I'm picking my engine block up from John (16VG60) Sunday morning, so we thought that a quick trip out for a pint and a glub GTI meet would be a nice way to break up over 500 miles of driving! 8) Will I win furthest travelled award?!?
  18. Nope, he's not cut a wire that he shouldn't have, he's CONNECTED a wire he shouldn't have! :? There's a blue wire in the corrado's wiring loom which is connected to the speed sensor on the gearbox. Some stereos use this so that the faster you go, the louder the stereo gets, which is what it's for. The problem is that a lot of fitters think that this wire is for switched aux power from the head unit (ie to turn on Amps, or an electric aerial etc) and so connect it to that part of the new stereo's wiring. This stops the signal getting to the spoiler control unit and so your spoiler stops working automatically. Disconnect that wire and your spoiler will magically start working again... 8)

    blown head gasket

If you're sure that the head need skimming, then here's your answers... If it's a standard 1.8 16V based on the factory KR lump, then: If the head gasket's gone, You DO need to skim it... Depending on how overheated you got it, how badly the gasket went, and how long it's been weeping for, dictates how much you have to skim it... You CAN skim the head with the valves in, BUT the head faces are not parallel: IE, the cylinder face and the bit wot the valve cover goes on are not in line with each other, so it needs lining up properly in a good milling machine before it can be done, not just placed on the bed of one... Skimming the head on most modern engines will make the compression slightly higher... On a KR engine, this may make your engine pink slightly more on normal unleaded petrol... You may find that you HAVE to run it on Optimax, or Ulitimum (or whatever it's called, I've still not seen it  ) to stop it pinking. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure it's the head gasket that's gone, and not something else like the oil cooler? Check this out first, as it could save you a lot of money and hassle... Post up why you think it's the head gasket, and someone here will either confirm your fears (I hope not!) or re-assure you that it's something different... 8) Hope you get it sorted soon.... 8)

    cv joints !!!!

Ah! That'll be where the problem was then... 1.6GTI gearbox mated to the 1.8 16V with 1.8 drive shafts (IIRC they're the same as the 1.6 anyway!)... That and the fact I was trying to fix it as cheaply as possible due to being a uni student at the time!  I've never (runs to find some wood to touch!) broken a gearbox yet... just engines... :?  Anyway, to get back to Fec's question... (sorry mate, kinda went off topic there!) Jack the drivers side of the car up (on the jacking point of the body, NOT the suspension!) and then, with the wheel off, pull in all sorts of angles on the front strut.... If it moves, then there's your problem... Movement at top = top mount is dead, bottom = tighten it up and replace the balljoint... 8) If it doesn't move, then it's probably a CV joint as Kev described above.... 8)

    heater resistor

It may be the same as one out of a Passat, but I've never tried... but it's definately not the same as a Golf one, or any of the other VWs the same age as a 'rado as they all had 3speed fans... If yours has stopped working on all speeds except 4 then you've blown the thermal fuse... They're not expensive, but I have no idea where you'd get one from in Norway... :? You could do a temporary bodge (like I did!) by soldering a bit of 13A mains cable in instead of the thermal fuse until you can source one out there... :? It's not very clever, but it'd make the fans work again! The fuse is the smallish silvery cylinder with a wire at each end, at the top of the big resistor pack. If this has blown, then the odds are that the fan's bearings are shot which has caused the resistor pack to over heat and blow the fuse. The fan motors are the same as MKII Golf. 8)
