oooh, that'd be tempting if they release one over here... *is getting fed up with petrol prices*

Can you guess what it is yet? or "learn about VW histor

I saw a type 181 done up to look like a kubel wagon, complete with machinegun only painted in florescent pink, green and yellow camoflage pattern! Now that messed with your hangover! -

wondered if you knew about the Type 181/Trekker name... ;) Thought that one WAS a THING though due to the front indicators being visible from the side instead of the Euro style ones which weren't? If it's dutch, it's a 181 though... just the indicators that put me off... ;) We had a 2.1type 4 engine in the back of a 912 at the garage I used to work for... would love to know if it's still knocking around... TMD10F was the plate it was on... They are quite a power plant upgrade for the aircooled cars aren't they! 8) ;) -
flusted, a washer pump won't be high enough pressure for water injection matey... it'd work well for spraying onto your intercooler, but spraying into the engine you're likely to get too much water in there any hydraulic the engine doing UBER damage... :| There's a good reason that water injection pumps are £100+ and washer pumpe are £10... ;)

nope, it's a THING! The kubel wagon was military only, and that's not old enough to be one... Basically the same thing though.... ;) (used to do a lot of work on Air-cooled stuff... I'll get me coat...  ) -
see data sheet above... ;) Plain old H2O sounds like a good plan to me too! May possibly put in a second tank on the windscreen washer pipe to suck in some cleaning fluid when I'm washing the screen though.... should be easy enough to plumb in... ;) 8)

standard trick of a torx or star drive tapped into the rounded head should still work... ;) Otherwise, with it only being 3mm, drill the fecker!

I remember someone telling me NOT to spray methanol into my ali pipes or directly into the intercooler as it will "rot" the aluminium... The flammable aspect is a very good point though... spraying methanol onto the front of a car while the engine's running/hot is almost certainly not a clever thing to do! :onfire: *edit* ah, found a safety data sheet on Methanol, and yup, it corrodes Aluminum and zinc.... :?

had a mate who had a fastback one of these with a 1.8 type 2 lump in the back on twin 45s... to say it was rapid was an understatement... to say it was rotten was also an understatement... Think he scrapped it as you could see through the floor just next to the pedals which was a little off-putting! -
http://www.ultraleds.com ;) You want the brightest orange LED in a water clear 5mm package that they do, along with a suitable resistor to make it work with a 12V power supply... That's exactly what I've used in my rear brake light (only red!  ) and they're nigh on invisible unless you get up really close until they're switched on... ;)

ooh, both styles of facia AND the sender along with the later gauges... Good find there... 8)

they're in Kent... clicky!

yup... much... crop the bottom of the photo off though, and it'll be spot on... ;) p.s. am I right about what it is? ;) -
stick a single 5mm orange LED into the side of the door mirror nice and flush... you won't be able to see it if you use a water clear one, and it'll be MOT legal then as it'll still have side repeaters... ;)

it's a VW type 3 notch back... guessing it's probably got something like a 911 engine or a seriously hotted up T1/T2/356 engine in the back? Looks in nice nick to be honest... Pic's a bit big for a sig though.... any chance of making it a weee bit smaller please? 8) -
snap, Racepower did mine too 3 years ago and it's had some abuse since then!
-
yup, got that wired up on J-DUB just before she was written off... :( Dropped the inlet temps quite a bit to be honest... I'm going to plumb in my water injection kit to H-YYU at some point soon, with the second injector plumbed in as a mister onto the intercooler... Only thing is, DON'T use methanol if you're spraying onto an Aluminium intercooler.... ;) Oh, and have a word with Gibber... he had a CO2 spray onto his intercooler.... Looked a bit interesting styling wise, but worked well... ;) may be worth looking into for ultimate cooling... ;)

R32 in the back of a space framed fibreglass Porsche replica?!? Would the front wheels ever touch the ground?!?
-
nope, the fan motor simply gets 12V onto either the low speed or high speed terminal. The resistors for making it spin slower are inside the motor. The relays only control the fan run-on functions. ;) 8)

yup, a blocked filter will make the pump work harder and become noisier... ;)
-
remove the plug completely from both parts (ie engine loom plug -> bin, and lambda plug -> bin ) and then use spade terminal connectors (crimp on, insulated ones!!!) to connect the wires back up again... simply cable tie 'em to where the original plug went to keep 'em off the exhaust manifold... ;) This'll allow you to easily change the lambda sensor in the future should it fail, keep the existing wiring loom and won't cost you much at all... Personally, I'd also then wrap the lot in insulation tape to waterproof it a bit better, but that's just me... ;)
-
the ones on mine had been mounted into the sunroof motor cover/interior light bit... 2 big holes drilled in the bit just by the sunroof that points backwards and then the sensors flush mounted and glue gunned into place... Looked quite discreet, but the holes weren't lined up properly and it bugged me lots... They have now been replaced by a microwave kit which is hidden within the car and doesn't need visible sensors! 8)
-
could also be that you've been unlucky and simply snapped a handbrake cable after the mot... You'll be able to tell which it is once you've removed the center tunnel cover inside the car to have a look at the mechanism... ;)

...and an LSD fitted while it's in bits to get the power onto the road a bit better... ;)
