Moving on, 7 years of Corrado ownership coming to an end....
Rams replied to andy's topic in General Car Chat
Loyal to the Germans! At least you will be back one day. You just get the itch. The BM is always a nice choice, real wheel drive and comfortable. Especially the armrest. -
After I purchased a pair of modified speaker pods, I took them to the trimmer to re do, once the carpet was stripped off, the surface was not smooth and he said you would see these blemishes. So, I decided to use my original pods and gave them to a friend and said can you make these for me. I bought some lovely Rainbow comps - 6.5 inch and he's adapted them to fit perfectably. Just need to see them finished and get them trimmed. The door cards are more or less complete and the steering wheel is done The finish looks spot on now and once wrapped in leather they will be OEM +. Car has now been at the body shop for nearly 2 weeks, miss not having the thing on my driveway

Will give that VW badge some more thought......??? Maybe a solar powered led / battery?

I had the same problem with my drivers heated seat when I first got my C, it was a soldered connection that had broken off, just needed re soldered and all was fine. Eact symptoms. Its just where you get in and out, especially the driverside and the movement distrurbs the connection. You have to take the seat out, unclip the springs holding the material and with a sharpe knife gentle cut the white fabric that sandwiches the wire / heating element and find where its disconnected. Usually its the join where it loops back to itself. My thread has a picture of this somewhere.

Looking great buddy! ---------- Post added at 09:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:52 PM ---------- Have you got a snow lance? I find if you use your normal wash product and some snow foam together it makes the paint even more slippery to avoid scracthing the new paint

Could you send a picture of the rear part, and I will take it please. I got my cill from TPS. Cheers

Do as much research as you can, knowledge is power...... Just dont get too carried away otherwise you will be searching for R32 engines! lol
-
It's coming together already
-
Are there any advantages of having OBD2 when going to an R32 engine with the wiring? I guess this depends on what ecu being used but weighing up options. Really got into the thread and peoples conversions and warming to the idea.

Good stuff, its always tempting to just try what you buy for speed sake so its better to be safe than sorry. You never know, you may just need new val stem seals, new gasket etc and away you go. Keeps us posted on progress

Very impressive. I am a sucker for those type of mods. You should record your moment when you fire the beast up when the OBD2 is in. I've read the thread and was saying out loud, ''How the hell does he do that''! Top work.

I would think you would need to strip the head and see what damage has been caused. The head gasket might be on its way, leaks can also occur around the water housings and pipe work. The problem is knowing what has been done if you but one from ebay etc so bank on taking it apart so you know all is well. The last thing you want to do is fit it all and discover a problem. You might be better off having yours dismantled and replacing what needs doing and then you know its all sound. The replacement parts are easy to source. It also a good way to learn what the components do. Have you got a friendly VW mechanic? If not, im sure plenty of people can point you in right direction for the area you are in.

I have ordered one from VW now as I didnt know they were replacement parts. I will see what happens when this part arrives as it was on back order and none in the UK. If it ends up taking to long, I can give you a shout. How much did you want for it? Cheers for clear pics. Rams

Just read the entire thread and hats off to you. What a striking example of simplicity. The efforts achieved are fantastic. The positive feedback just shows that continuing with your passion is the way to go.

Just ordered a new cill -

Would a gentle light behind the logo be too cheesy? Does the small logo bit pop out?
-
Thanks Rod, that makes things much easier. I just assumed they wouldnt stock this item anymore, but then again, I do know what assume stands for. lol You dont happen to know if it will include the lip underneath as per my picture? Cheers again

Thats very cool. Very creative!

Need a driver side door cil please. As long as its not rusty. Please contact me if you have something. Cheers Rams

Ive been over today to see the Rado at the paint shop as I asked him to check an area on the cill that was pushing out slightly. It was rust. He removed the seam sealer off the lip and found it to be rusty, so need to weld in a new section of cil. Bit of hassle really but at least its been found and will be sorted. Going to have then the underneath, stripped and sealed as the old sealer on the other side is starting to perrish and to give it some nice protection for the furture. If anyone has one they are willing to sell, please give me a shout. Need to be drivers side, see pics for damage.

It does come apart.....

Thanks chaps, I have another picture but the ones I'm uploading are from the trimmers phone not great quality. The lower bits do come out as the pictures showed this removed. I will dig them out Hassan. Seeing the wheel on against the dash and doors cards will really make the difference.

My steering wheel is nearly finished but heres a pic from my trimmer. I am really happy with it, wanted to bring in some more Alcantara into the car, you don't really see the head lining when your driving! What do you think?
-
Some updates: I have taken the car into the body shop again to have some bits sorted, should be there for a week or so then the paint should be back to how I want it. One of my doors cards are finished and the trimmer sent me a picture, its not very clear as you can see but just makes me more keen to see the finished results. Hes been having trouble with the steering wheel as the original leather is moving in a spot he needs it to be tight. I wanted it trimmed over the original layer to make it more chuncky. It seems that this cant be done but it should feel nicer with new soft leather.
