  1. Wayne, im struggling a bit..... Can you help? I need to connect the wiring up for the button to open the door, so far, I have the door opening but dont want the door to open when the alarm is on , onbiously so no creatures can get in! Can you help with wiring? I need to secure the car now as a fair few travellers - being polite have come to bmth. It might just be my meter playing up which determines who I wire it!!
  2. Hi guys I have installed a solenoid to open my doors which is working, the problem I have is trying to find a switchable live to the locking system as anyone could in effect unlock my car. I need the button to be deactivated when the alarm is on and the car is locked. But so far, when you activate the central locking on the fob, the live wire is permanately live. Any ideas or should I use an auto electrician? Need to figure this bit out so I can finish them off and get the last of the welding finished. Cheers
  3. Looking very good Wayne...... You must be chuffed! I know what you mean about the solinoid being fiddly, lol I changed the buttons in the end for some slimmer ones which are water proof, 7.99 from Maplins Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing a picture of it all back together
  4. Hi mate, Question for you..... Where have you mounted the door solinoids, taken the door card off today and tried to figure out the best location, so far It looks like it can only go near the door latch mech to clear the window and keeping the solinoid close to the lever.... Want to try and get them in place by tomorrow and working before they are shaved. Any advise is welcomed, Rams
  5. thanks mate, send my best to Edinburgh, my home town! Bought some all red rear lights, personal registration arrived and should be well underway by the end of this weekend. Have ordered some s line pedals too. Will be putting the car back together and meeting the painter next week. Looking forward to driving the car again, its been 3 weeks plus now! I will take a pic of the plate when the car is ready, I think its the cherry on top! Just need to inform my insurance company and probably argue why they want to charge an admin fee for altering my reg no! Thanks for all your comments guys
  6. A few updates, have had the wing vent cut in and spot welded, after much thought of a mounting position, I have turned the vent so the wing vent forces air in over the flute ends, used some metal from my spare rear quarter panel to act as a chamber to force more air into the inner wing, then will modify the inner wing to suit so it does allow air in to take advantage of the mod. Just need to finally rub down the rear panel, wings and weld the bonnet jets, should be done by tomorrow. Then rigging up the solinoids and once in place, will start with shaving the door handles. I will leave the boot lock in place but possibly just cover the lock hole in the event I need to get in!! Hopefully not. Once I have faith in my doors opening, I may shave the boot lock.... will see. Once everything is doen, the arches will be next, will pull them to a smooth curve, then everything is ready for suspension and wider wheels with no rubbage. Wheels will no be happening till next year though. Happy to sit of the standard rims for now tbh. Had a go with the hammer and dolly on my old wing to take out the step in the arch and it looks quite smart. Its obviously my old rusty arch, but it gives me the impression of what it would come out like. Other than filler, rubbing down and painting, itd doesn't seem that involved. I know the rear will be, but the principle is the same, but may need to do some cutting on the rear ones, will see how it goes.climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfSDC11141.JPG[/attachment:38rsz35f]
  7. she said that because she drives my car and its been off the road now for a while and shes missing out!
  8. Hey, that wing turned out well, I know what you mean about the inner wing, im going to sleep on it and have another look tomorrow. My girlfriend laughed at me today as said I need to speed up to catch you up! Have you thought about pulling the arches? I have decided to go with it as the bumper lines up better plus no rubbage! Have you found a place for the washer jets? I bet you cant wait to see this done with all the mods in the flesh! Will look show quality im sure :salute:
  9. Wings now shaved, old rusty wings removed, bumper off, scuttle panel and washer jets removed. Will be shaving them tomorrow and doing the rear wiper. The rear panel just needs some final touches, but otherwise, all smooth now. Tow eye chopped off, will then smooth over. Marked out the wing vent today and thinking about the inner arch and whats going to look best. Had an idea to make a shape between the inner and other arch to force the air in. Will also look shortly at removing the canister to get even more cold air in. Had some french lessons today trying to take the bumper bolts out, old ones are in coke for now, just to see what they come out like but will grab some new ones and copper grease them in. All new speedclips required then going to clean the cross member etc. Managed to get lots of dirt out in and around the old wings, vacumed and brushed out. I am also having the arches flared, I may aswell do it now, like how the rados looks with a cleaner curved arch. Ordered the solinoids for boot and doors from ebay, (cheers Wayne) and should get around to shaving the doors. The boot will follow suit. I am having difficulty in taking out the driver side headlight, will have another look tomorrow and update progress.climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfCorrado work 21072010 005.jpg[/attachment:3u74ib8g]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCorrado work 21072010 002.jpg[/attachment:3u74ib8g]

  11. Where can I buy the polished rocker cover for a VR6? Cheers

  13. Rams

    What is this for?

Is the small hole for holding a pipe in place? Does anyone else have it on theirs?
  14. Looks very good mate, how did you settle on location to wing before cutting? I'm keen to see what you do to the inner wing, keep us posted! Are you using etch primer?
  15. I have someone doing the work for me! I just keep him topped up coffee. I need to order the solinoids, do you recommend the ones you bought? Also, where r u mounting your wing vent? In the lower section or upper of the wing? Hows yours going? I just want to get mine done now, searching for some coilovers atm. Then I might find some inner peace and just drive the car! Looking forward to the finished result and seeing how good it looks all smooth. Just need some Sade - smooth operator playing in the car when its back on the road. lol
  16. I have this angled piece of metal with a hole in the top, not sure if its an old braket from something redundant? Any ideas?
  17. Wing needs more filler, but should be ready tomorrow
  18. A bit more work has been done with the arch and rear panel, tomorrow the rear panel will be welded, smoothed and fillered, the bonnet washers are going. Will cut in the wing vent to the old wing first and make sure everything is lined up before doing it on the new wing. Also will cut the inner arch to actually get the air through. Then everyday, a few hours each day, should see the new bonnet fitted, wings fitted and lined up, then when the slc lights arive, get those cut in, the wiring will be altered for the side indicator and brought towards the bumpers. Bit more work on the arch to get completely smooth and perfect then the car is ready to be DA'ed and flatted back ready for painting. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks, all the body mods will be complete, just ordering some solinoids for when the doors become smooth. The car will be completely delocked, so will order some super quality solinoids to do the trick. The boot will release from a button on the inside, but the doors will open from a small button under the wing mirrors. I was told yesterday by Waynos - that TVR use our mirrors, so that mod works quite well imo. I am going to do as much of the paint prep myself then hand it over to the professional and ask him to make sure he is happy with my prep work, if not, he will make the final touches before its re sprayed.Corrado92.pdfCorrado work 19072010 002.jpg[/attachment:cxcyv291]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfCorrado work 19072010 004.jpg[/attachment:cxcyv291]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfCorrado work 19072010 003.jpg[/attachment:cxcyv291]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCorrado work 19072010 005.jpg[/attachment:cxcyv291]
  19. My girlfriends sometime drives my car and her sister lives in Westbourne, but I live just off the highstreet in Charminster. Do you go to the tidy vag meets? Can hook up when the rado is ready and get the others together for a beverage? know theirs a chap in Christchurch, I'll ask him when hes available?
  20. VW / Karman by default made a good marketing campaign with the ' Storm' lots of hype and when you speak to someone who likes corrados but doesnt know a lot, they say, ' they made a storm model'. I agree with the above, its nothing more special that a well specked VR but they have thrown it in to nake you believe its better. So VW marketing hooked me in a long time ago when in essence, its not a lot different. However, theres a feeling of proudness to myself that I have achieved a goal I set which included it being a Storm. If I see any nice Corrado, or looking through the members gallery, I dont grade a car, I just appreciate the car and what their owners have done. We are both talking about the same thing anyway, being proud of what you have achieved is the most important thing. Noticed your in Bmth, are you Charminster way?
  21. I think the value is in what you make, i.e, the finished article in the flesh. This car is being brought back to life with a bit of face lift. Dont get me wrong, you get appreciation from owning a standard car and keeping it immaculate, but from opinions Ive had so far, are ones of encouragement. I appreciate your opinion on values etc, but made a decision to find a home for this car till I'm old and struggling to see and failing medical tests. I always buy standard cars so I know things have been done correctly, this car was totally standard except for wiper and light loom upgrade when I purchased it. For me a modified VR6 Storm has been on my goal list for a while now.
  22. I didnt know TVR use our mirrors! I actually got stopped for ' no seat belt in my van today and though I would ask him about the side indicators. He didnt know for sure, but said, most cars dont have them so it must be ok>>?? I agree abot the roof strips, probably just need to change mine as they look tired. Bit my aerial base, its light grey and the plastic clip came off one day. I think the aerial looks good to, but will offer up a BMW type to see how it looks. In the inner arch there are some recessed bits, I thought about cutting them out so the wing structure stays as strong as possible and air chanel towards the airbox. Have you smoothed the rear wiper hole? If so, did you plate it from underneath or smooth the surface and weld?
  23. Hi Wayne Glad you got the vent, just aswell its for the passenger side, I soon realised after I sent it that they were handed. But then again, the picture taken was luckily the one I sent. Are you cutting the inner wing to actually make the air flow into the engine bay? I am at the same stage as yourself with smoothing various items. I though I would keep the VW badge, saw yours and though, yeah, it can go! Why not. I also left my thread hanging with the handle choice, but was infact doing smooth doors, connected by solinoids. Probably going to have buttons under the mirrors TVR style and hook the boot to the same system so everything is de locked. Be intresting to know if you have experience with solinoids? I here Maplins supply the bits a nd pieces needed? Are you deleting the side indicators? Be interesting to see the smooth front bumper finished, it makes sense to have everything smooth but think I 'll keep mine as it is. What washer jets are you using? The ford type are round and not sure which ones to use and the exact mounting position. Will have a play when I get to smoothing the bonnett. Probably going to remove the aerial for a different type, maybe BMW fin ?? Lastly, are you leaving the roof strips in place? It looks quite involved to smooth them and get them looking spot on, I just cant see a justification for them. Its one of them! lol Keep up the good work Rams
  24. Work is well underway.... have smoothed the front wing holes, plated and welded. Smoothed the rear panel, disc cut join, spot weld so it wount flex and sink, then the first coat of filler. The arch should be looking good tomorrow, the lines are excellent and line up really well. Then smoothing rear wiper hole. A few other ideas have now cropped up and I have a solution to what handles I want. But will save that for a photo when they are done. Fitting the new bonnett and passenger wing tomorrow and doing a trial run on the wing vent in the old wing first. Used the Mercedes sprinter wing in the end as its more subtle. Bumper lights are on there way from America, managed to get clear slc factory ones.
  25. The decat pipe was too short so they are sending an extra long extension / adaptor. If anyone orders theirs, just give them the length of your old cat so the same doesnt happen to you.
