I think you are refering to the sensor that reads the outside temp on your MFA? Not really sure what sensor you mean mate?

Beetlebug_2001, yeah, those plastic bits scratch the film, I just used that bit for poking down the sides or as a ruler. It can be done for those of you who want a tinted car without having to pay out £250 plus.

biggrim, Theside windows will be easy to do, the only pain waindow to do lol, bad joke - would be the rear window. The top windscreen tint can be professionally done for £15. I wouldnt pay £250 for tints, I did my last car with my mum who is great at art so I thought she would be good at cutting the tints and to be honest, it was a bloody good job. Just seems a lot of money thats all. The rear window you can do in 3 stages and use the lines to work from, the pros probably will do it in 2 or 3 stages? If I were to tint my car as my avtar is made to look like it has tints - I would go for a light smoke all round to keep it looking subtle. Thats just my taste though. I had a MK2 Golf GT1 in Mystic blue - fully re painted and I took the tints off and it made the car look cleaner and classier. Play around with paint program and see what you think it will look like before you decide to go Midnight and lighter on teh front windows.

every car I have owned I have had to get heads re built even of friends cars that I boroughed for a couple of days! I learned to drive in my parents Jetta 1.8 H plate with power steering and elec windows, it was the big bumper model and I though it was great. They gave me the car when I passed my test and I slammed the car but the rear was much lower than the front and went through 4 sets of drive shafts, 2 gearboxes and endless amounts of tyres. After the first few months of owning it, I had a defect form as 4 tyres were bold and my dad took the car down to pay for the tyres and the mechanic said this car seems like its being driven really hard, my dad came home with the car and said , ' son, have you been ragging this car? I said, ' me... no''! The worst car had to have been a ford orion that I bought for 1 week, blew that up, I shot the piston through the oil sump if you can believe that!! Then I had teh C G60 K plate to which I didnt blow that one up, its being driven around the corfe mullen area / Wimborne if any of you know that area. The plate is K52 VNH or something. Nice car.

Hi all My dub is leaking oil from the gearbox, could this just be a seal? The leak looks like it is in the centre of the box in the middle. Its the lowest part of the gearbox that you would see if you stuck your head underneath. It looks like its a join and its annoying my mum as the oil is everywhere. I will get it done asap I just wanted to know your opinions and would the gearbox have to come out? I need my clutch done as it makes a noise when I pull away like its struggiling. But I havent got that much cash at the moment as im going on holiday in a couple of weeks. Any ideas welcome. Other than that, I need the followers done and my car should be free of every problem so not much more to do till I start really going to town on the engine.

there is a specisal glass polish, not the Auto Glym stuff, a very special polish to take fine scratches out. I will try and find out what it is called and try that first.

my new misses drives an MGF Roadster and that just screams out hairdresser / girls car! To be honest, they are so easy to drive and have an easy open / close hood and handle well being mid engined. I dont feel right driving it though, it just isnt a corrado and doesnt make sounds like there is a tiger under the bonet!

the new Golf GT TD1's are 150 BHP. I import them and they have more torque than a scooby turbo - fact! The are very good cars by VW, for a diesel engine to produce so much torque and whilst it doesnt sound too bad - for a diesel anyway. I had a play with one whilst being in the passenger seat of a civic that I have to say is very close on speed to my car if not quicker, they just rev so much. It was a highly tunned civic with a bigger head and all sorts but he had trouble staying with him. The VW is older technology and you cant compare that with a brand new car, everything will feel nicer and softer because its new. For the price of a new one of those you could get a G60 and a VR and if your lucky a 16V. Good cars anyway. 8)

You forgot the Sunroof! Check that works or doesnt work for that matter.

I think its been well done, IMO a little over the top but if thats the style you wanted then great and you must be happy. The handles and bumper vents and wing vent looks great, I think the bonnet vents looks too much though. The lights stand out quite a lot so you must be going for a mad in your face look. The rear diffuser part looks cool also. I would take out the rear wiper to make your spolier look neater?

I didnt take any pics of my car as I lowered it the night before on coilovers and slammed it to the floor. I could even drive along the long path without the splitter rubbing the ground! I met Bananna man and acouple of ohers. I used that guys VAG COM and he took out a flat spot in my engine and it does feel better. It was good of him to do it FOC. Hope to see you nutters again but for some serious drinking and partying in Bournemouth!

im sure they just slot in. I dont know how good they will be by being taken off then re applied.

you have to adjust the pin that locates into teh lock by uscrewing the pin and moving it in more towards the door pillar as there is a fair bit of adjustment. Dont move it in too far and make sure the pin - the part that has the plastic clip around to make the door sound quieter when you shut the door, this is the bit I mean that needs adjusting. I think its 13 mm or bigger and you dont need to wond it all the way out, just enought where it is easy to move to re position so that when the door gets closed it pulls tight against the door frame and it will stop the rattle. My passenger door did it and it bugged the hell out of me and the car looks better as the lines are straight when you look out the passenger wind mirror. What happens is the oin gets loose with time, opening and shutting etc so nip it up tight when you have got it in position. If the window rubbers are loose then you need new ones, they are around 30 plus pounds and make the window sit in tighter against the door card. That will help ya mate :lol:

is it the door or the window that is rattiling? I know how to cure both! The door is all to do with how far it is brought in when it connects with the door lock. There is a bit of movement where the pin enters the lock mech and you can undo this and move it in slightly to get the door tighter to the car. The window, obvious things are the window rubbers with time sofen and perish and tthe gap between the window and door widens and makes the window fibrate. I believe new door / window rubbers are around 30 plus quid.

It will all depend on how faded it is, I would think it would bring it back up to quality paint again. As long as they use a new mop head and the correct polish and they know what they are doing then you will be well impressed. Your basically taking a tiny layer of paint away to obtain fresh new paint whilst protecting it at the same time. Then it will need a good polish, something without much silicone in it. Mine was done as the whole car was painted and it looked a bit orange peal in the light so it was machine polished and looks like concourse paint. It really could do with a really fine wet and dry sand and then mop to achieve best results as loads of lacquer was used on my car.

machine polishing is good, make sure who ever does it does it properly. Mine was done last week, the best way is to use the cutting agent first then the machine polish on the softer pad. The way to do it is slow so the polish cuts into the paint rather than leaving you with swirl marks!

I still havent got my c. I was to have it last sat, considering it was 2 months over due the first time, the car went back for him to fix some bits he didnt do well. I also had the car de badged and de seemed and he said pick it up tomorrow at 11am. If its not done im going to just take it and drive over the sprayer! Then spit on him and wheel spin all the dust into his face!

Joe M, Mate I was in the same situation as you. I went for Quantim leeds from VW, they are the recommended leeds along side the O/E which are something silly like 20 and 25 for each leed. I would get the magnicor leeds, problem is they take 5 days to make so you need something now hence why I went with the quantium leeds from VW. They are a resonable price and if vw sell them over the counter they cant be to bad. I had a problem with them as they have a small amount of lubricant in the caps, mine kept poping off the the plugs and dizzy cap untill some of the head dried the oil up and I had to keep clicking them back on for an afternoon then they are fine.

Cool! Its kind of worrying when that stuff happens. Bloody C's can be a pain in the but sometimes.
