Hi All, is there such a device that can be used to clean up a slightly rusty spline? it's for an a/c compress which have quite narrow access to it, some sort of socket based solution would be ideal

Brake light fuse keeps blowing... Solved thanks all

Had this issue with my rear fog a while back... there's a loom that runs through the boot lid that goes between both light clusters, it had been cut on the wiper motor and was shorting out -
Stopped by police for being too low....
nocrap replied to Fulltimejunglist's topic in General Car Chat
Indeed - i was watching one of these generic police traffic programs the other night and they stopped a guy on a bike simply because he wasn't using light... all they were going to say was please walk you bike home now sir and fit some lights to it... the guy was just so abusive to them so the cops gave back as good as they got... I think they seized the bike and arrested him for refusing to give details. -
I use the dubpower ones on mine and have never had an issue with the knock sensor being simply zip tied to lead.... in fact i even didn't have it anywhere near it to start with and didn't experience any problems. If your local TPS will let you buy from them, or you just blag a trade account you can get a set of genuine ones for £53.63 including VAT Will be £71.50 if you go straight through VW

But it essentially makes no difference, you can either have one 600 yard queue or two 300 yard queues... both will take the same time to filter through, in fact the two queue option would probably take a lot longer due to people not allowing traffic from the right hand lane in. especially if it was 5.30 on a friday...

yeah, old mans fault. the police took a number of statements from mark, photos were taken of the crash site showing it was clearly safe to overtake and the calculations they made proved he wasn't speeding

i think i've said this before on here but hey ho.... My brother was driving along a national speed limit back road. The road is long, straight and wide so it's perfectly acceptable to be driving up close to the speed limit. he was behind 2 cars with the lead car doing about 25 MPH the chap in front of him overtook when safe and my bro followed. as he began to pass, the person that he was overtaking decided to drive square into the passenger wing of his car sending him off into ditch, flipping the car onto its roof finally stopping about 50 yards down the hedgerow. He was totally unhurt (very luckily) and got out of his car to go and speak to the guy who'd just wrecked his motor, only to find a shocked and terrified elderly man who was apparently unsure as to where he was and started to make a U turn whilst my brother was overtaking. It was recommended by the police that the chap handed in his licence which he duly did

Surely this is a bit of a use of common sense one? i cut across lanes on roundabout but only when I've observed that its alright to do so, i.e. no one else is in the right hand lane..... it does however really piss me off when people just do it as a matter of course, without looking or in fact realising what they're doing
-
I've tried retrofit ones before and they're cack on a corrado. Unless you've still got decent wiper arms they'll only wipe about the 1st inch of each end of the blade
-
hard to tell without looking get some brake cleaner and some paper towel, whip the wheel off and inspect it
-
nope not at all, it does run off the crank but not on the same pulley.
-
get the drive belt and power steering pump belt while you're there, they're only a few quid each, well worth replacing while you're down that end of the engine
-
oh, and a new thermostat and coolant flange'll be a good idea to change too.... test the 'stat in a pan of boiling water 1st though to check it operates correctly. You'll also need a couple of bottles of g12++ coolant to mix up and refill the system
-
get a genuine one too, they're still around £30 from the dealer in exchange for your other one

ABS Light stays on - How do I see which sensor has failed ?
nocrap replied to John-M's topic in Drivetrain
VagCom should show you exactly which sensor has failed especially on a VR. Perhaps he'd set the baud rate for a different car and hasn't changed it back, that would make it fail comms -
what do you actually mean? fitting a mk4 style fob to the standard key?
-
from what i've read elsewhere i think it could be a silicone based grease
-
Just be careful on the unions that are used, I would assume the goodridge ones'll be fine though. If the unions are deemed to be unsafe by an MOT tester then they can fail them. I also believe there is another MOT rule that is coming in the near future that says that the unions must be a specific type properly crimped on or they'll be failed even if they look fine enough.

Humm, I'll have to have another check later but I'm fairly sure that when immobiliser is selected if pulls up some info.
-
Hey, I've got an aftermarket immob, what do you need to do in VCDS to disable the factory one? Thanks
-
5 Metre rolls are currently £4.10 +VAT Unions are £6.14 + VAT each!! i'd personally go somewhere else for them as you should be able to get them for about 50p each
