:? you do realise that this thread is over a year old don't you?

Think a few people have fitted the ones that are available on ebay, mixed opinions though. other than that it'll just be a case of replacing it with one from a breaker.

Hi all, Just phoned AVS (http://www.vwspares.co.uk/) to check on my order and asked them about their stocking of genuine vw parts. the guy on the phone had a couple of useful bit of info; 1. They're soon to be stocking Gates which is the brand you'd get if you bought direct from VW 2. The Febi belt tensioners are actually made by the same company that makes the genuine parts, i forget their brand though! 3. They should be able to provide any genuine VW common service parts at a discount over VW Another thing that people might not have spotted is that they're are once again supplying Quantum oils, current price is £12.95 rising to £14.95 soon.

urmmmmm....... can't remember of the top of my head! I know there are a few on the right side but i think they're all for coolant, something makes me think it's on the back! I'm sure someone else'll confirm
-
As above then, check the wiring. possibly replace the sensor Which engine is it?
-
Doesn't give you the option or displays nothing when you go to that setting? if it's not giving a readout i'd assume that there is some sore or cabling fault or the sensor has completely had it. Check for unplugged wires first
-
Your 'user manual' will explain all.... each press of the button on the end of the stalk will change it to a different readout. slide the MFA 1/2 switch as far as it'll go either way to clear any stored data for that MFA.
-
Just gave them a call as i'm after that exact sort of cover. They can't insure me as i'm 24, saying that that i'd have to be at least 25 if not 30 before they'd cover me! Sounds like an awesome deal though Jim, Ho hum
-
Have you actually worked this out after filling up a couple of times or just trusting the figure on the MFA? Mine gives me around 320 miles on 50 litres with mixed driving, 350 - 400 miles for motorway
-
Indeed, I really wouldn't expect it to be near the quality to of other reputable brands. however you've also got to weigh it up against the contents of your wallet. now you could go on about false economies all you like but I know it's far easier financially to spend £20 now and gamble the fact that it might need to be changed in 2 - 3 years than it is to go and spend £60 + on a Bosch one. oh and before people that know me start going on, this is for my sisters car.
-
Heya, Just wondering if anyone has used them? http://www.cats2go.co.uk Cheers
-
£10 from GSF i seem to remember
-
Yes you'll need G60 CARRIERS
-
Indeed http://dubpower.co.uk/HT%20leads.HTM
-
Speak to PeteC on here, has a company called Dub Power. around £30 for a set of very good quality leads.
-
Yeah i got one a couple few weeks back so certainly not obsolite, supprisingly cheaper than the GSF one too...only by a couple of quid though.
-
Cheers pete, will do that. the annoying thing is that it doesn't do it all the time... could very well be locate near the under tray thimmy as i have poked around in there a few times
-
thanks but no, i've had frequent annoyed passengers pushing everything in sight to try and stop it.
-
Hi all, Right! This has been happening for a while but before I start ripping my dash apart in a rage I thought I'd post this up to see if anyone has had a similar issue. I'm getting a highly annoying vibration sound coming from somewhere around the top left hand side of the dash, the noise only occurs when I'm driving so I'm unable do any effective searching and no passenger has been able to find it! Then only solution I've been able to find is to turn my music up louder! Cheers NonPoop

Not looking promising for a DIY job then.....
-
Right, i'm fairly sure that its crankshaft seal and / or gasket. anyone had any experiance of changing these?
-
Cheers guys, couple of good ideas there. Gasket between block and filter bracket was changed at the same time as the other seal
-
could be, that seal was changed 1.5 years ago tho...oil filters clean too
