This bloke has called me twice now and was execptionally rude to say the least. Couldnt understand why I didnt want to pay 80 quid for them to sell my car. They really are very push and dont understand when they are told not to call me back. Makes my blood boil. Anyone else had this or even taken these services and had a sucess?

  7. This may be a silly question but is the headlight switch problem just on the face lift model or does it effect the pre face lift cars. If so are the parts the same?
  8. Dave the way I read his opinion was that if your car was designed for 95 and you stick in anything else thats not bright. But reading this both the Vr and the G60 can take either, not sure about the 16v's. Funny how they dont stick a note above the pump saying that one lol Same sticker on the g60's Steve no idea mate as I said, done chemistry at school but we didnt do much more that oil is refined into petrol.

    Which Amp

I run a denon amp in mine and cant fault it and sounds great :)
  10. Found this on shells website http://www.shelloptimax.co.uk/jive3/thr ... ageID=1704 I prefer optimax over Esso and BP. And Shell gave me an optimax card because I use so much of the stuff ;)
  11. Got this from here http://www.ciao.co.uk/Shell_Optimax_Pet ... ew_5329606 Because Optimax is more refined it burns much cleaner and hence, you get a better MPG. This opinion is obviously tying to my car; other people may get different results. The "Optimax" effect will not happen overnight. To really feel a difference you'll have to run it for at least 3000 miles. However, please don't be fooled that the higher octane rating the better it will be for your car! This is a fallacy. Most UK cars runs on 95 RON, using a higher octane rated petrol will make no effect on your car's performance. If higher octane ratings make a car perform better then 95 RON petrol would have been phased out a long time ago! If you wish to know more then read this bit. If not go to the next paragraph. Octane can withstand pressure well, Pentane cannot. When petrol is refined a mixture of Pentane and octane is produced. The quality of the petrol is defined in its octane rating (95 RON denotes 95% octane: 5% Pentane. Likewise, if the petrol is extra refined you'll have 98 RON 98%octane: 2% Pentane). Now, if a car is set at 95 RON petrol, in the combustion chamber (where the petrol ignites with the spark plugs causing the petrol to become a gas) the piston compresses the chamber where the gas is. The amount of pressure is enough for the octane in petrol to withstand. So, if you think about it, why put a more expensive petrol in your car if the piston will only apply enough pressure for 95% octane? It won't damage your car, but it won't make it go any faster. However, if you put a 95 RON petrol in a car that is set to 98 RON petrol, the piston will compress the chamber too much and the pentane will push the piston down too early causing a shuddering in the drive. This is known as "pinking" or "pinging". This will damage your car. This is why octane ratings are important. I will leave this part of my review because I believe the point of the website is to educate people with your knowledge. Thank you kindly. Intresting reading I thought. Not sure if the comments are true but knows more than me :)
  12. it screws into the temprature sensor (i think) on the right hand side of the block. I can take a picture if you wish.
  13. Mines is in at the side of the head. I'm not sure I understand why you'd want to put it somewhere else or is it because of the cooler
  14. Thats a fair point. :) Where are you going to mount it?
  15. I'm not sure what you stand to gain from this and why you wouldnt put in an oil pressure or volt meter or boost guage. Or am I missing something here?
  16. And I tried super unleaded in my VR and found that it made precisely bugger all difference apart from lightening my pocket by a few more £. It may give you slightly better fuel economy, but no more than driving a miniscule slower, or from the air temp being a fraction of a degree lower. ... I think the thing with the G60's the knock (not sure on the spelling) sensor advances the timing so the G60's defo pick up some what when they are feed super. The other thing is VW recommend thats what they should be run on.
  17. East Coast NY 6 hours behind us Central 7 hours and 8 hours for west Coast LA Some goods they will hold till the duty is paid others they will invoice you. Either way you cant really escape it. Someone should become the sole importer for the buggers and it would be a lot simpler for the punters

    G60 HT Leads

I have these fitted and no problems one year on
  19. I've been with them for a good few years and they have been ok. The above is just bang out of order. A friend who also had a c had problems with them. Guess I'll have to think carefully about going with them again but they have always been cheapest and they do the agreed evaluation. The other worrying thing about this is the are recommended by the CCGB and advertise in the sprinter.(not actually a member for the first year since ownership lost my application and didnt bother...) I would say that from the bad press on here and the e group they will have a few people thinking twice.
  20. I tried to complain to VW about one off there dealers just not interested and put it down to the area manager who was not interested also. I'm guessing if you had a newer car it may be a different story but not willing to try that theory out.
  21. you should be able to find one at that price with highish miliage auto trader maybe not the best place to find the car of your dreams (to quote autotrader) Good luck
