  1. Cheers Adrain... hmmm yeah I was wondering that.... mine are still all there, but look a bit weatherd... just curious why did you replace yours?
  2. Hmmm yeah I could need some of these...
  3. Cheers all - Chris is now on the case ;) fingers crossed - if anyone thinks of anything else I'd really appreciate a heads up.... or if they're passing my way and want to lift a 6 pot out of the front of the car I'd appreciate that to! LOL! :D
  4. Looks very clean thou - the sort of condition I'm hoping for mine. Picked mine up in January - done a lot to it, all the interior has been out and wet valeted as it was covered in mildew, sunroofs, windscreens had a fair few adventures already... just about to start the biggest one thou... auto to manual conversion.. I bought it with a blown gearbox and the auto is eyewateringly expensive to repair... so manual it is, yeah its very straight which is what attracted me to it.. 2 owner car and pretty much unmolested and all there.
  5. Ahhh ok - are they still available new?
  6. Just seen your thread... really nice looking car you have there! Mine was a driveway rescue too but a tad more neglected unfortunately so taking longer than I thought to get back into shape :( http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/Geebaphoto/IMG_20170113_153239.jpg' alt='IMG_20170113_153239.jpg'>

    OBD2 Schrick

I'm guessing it works along the same lines as the Varioram used by Porsche? that extends and shortens... this I imagine equals out the VR's curious inlet and outlet setup...

Gessssss £1160! - you could gas-flow and big valve a head for that much dosh!
  11. I think easypops is building another car purely from parts! :D
  12. Great save! Good luck with getting her back together, keep the pictures coming ;)
  13. Fla - do you have to drop the steering coloum? I was reading back over Storm's guide and in the parts list is this:- New lost head bolts for the steering column £5 Also did you use a new flywheel?
  14. Block, head and gearbox look fantastic. Out of interest while the head is off will you be doing any porting work on it? do VR6's respond well to flowed heads? we used to do our own heads years ago in my garage with a diegrinder on our MK1/2 Golf GTI's - made reasonable amount of difference... coupled with a 1900 block (mainly tourque) my car rolled 137bhp so a good 20bhp.
  15. Cheers Chris! - you're an absolute LEGEND! I'm going to start making my list up today and reading through a few of the threads from other owners that have done the same ;)
  16. Yeah I was supprised at that! - almost dropped him a PM, but thought it was a little more modified than I wanted, I'd pull his arm off now, but I guess it would of been a shame to break it.
  17. Gesss anychance you can move back to the UK?? LOL!
  18. Hmmm yeah I did read that... makes it sound pretty easy :(
  19. Think the plan is to get away from the auto box... yeah I could throw a grand at this one and get it fixed, I think I can get a manual box in and working for less than that... my biggest concern is its changed it into a major job rather thana fix :(
  20. I've got a VR6 Auto with a completely blown auto box, I was intending to repaire the auto box but the quotes for doing this are pretty eyewatering to say the least. So I'm now looking at converting it to manual. Before I go down the path of buying the bit seperately would anyone beinterested in sourcing a car for breaking? you maybe interested in the engine and interior or maybe exterior parts. - I'm purely after the parts to convert my car to manual. We could then split the rest of the car and sell as parts or a job lot - I'm a bit thin on storage space but could store the parts but not the whole shell. Anyone interested or if they know of a donor car I could take all the bits from?
  21. I suppose its worth a shot... I've just had a squiz through ebay and theres no breakers at the moment.... anyone know of one being broken?
  22. Cheers Fla, I dont suppose you did a 'how too' when you did yours did you? or make a list of all the parts? I did have a look on your car thread but the pictures appear to be missing... out of interest did you change your log-book?
  23. Would be nice, but I have no way of storing one... are the drive shafts different too? wowser.... :(
  24. Hi Fla, I'm not sure I can get all the bit from the same donor car :( - I'm speaking to Lilfuzzer at the moment about a gearbox, pedal box and a few other parts, I'm not aware of cars being broken in my area except for eBay breakers that are asking eye watering amounts of cash for broken parts... Are there any gotchas you can remember? - I don't suppose you can remember a rough list of parts needed? Pedal box Gearbox Linkage/cable Interior trim Clutch Flywheel Is it an engine out? Do I need to buy any special nuts/bolts/clips etc? So definitely worth doing the chain tensioners and crank seal at the same time? any pointers on where to get the parts? are many available from the Main Stealers? I'm just very dubious about throwing much in the way of cash at the auto, like Dox said I think the car will appeal more if I decide to sell it as a manual, the story I was told when I got the car is that the heat exchange leaked water into the gearbox, the previous owner had the ATF flushed and a new exchanger fitted, it appeared to be ok but then it happened again and all drive was lost - I dropped the ATF yesterday and it does have a bit of a burnt whiff about it as well as being very dark in color.... Quotes so far for getting the autobox done range from 1200 to 1500 if I get the car to them and 900 to 1000 if I drop the box over... so I'm just thinking its not really sensible... :(
