Swompy's Ice grey violet. Now gone to a new home
nemesis360 replied to Swompy's topic in Members Gallery
Hi its Graham from DG Autotech, most laser alignment machines won get your car driving perfectly because they have huge tolerances on the acceptable camber angle etc. (unless the person using it knows what their doing) It needs to be exactly the same on both side or it will torque steer and not pull up straight when braking. We can have a look at it if you want. -

The bodyshop that helps me do the paint on mine still uses it, I dont think your aloud to keep it in stock (for mixing machines etc) but they can buy it in ready mixed without any problems. Thats what he told me and I been freinds with him for years

VR6 rebuild - Downpipe and exhaust tacked up
nemesis360 replied to nemesis360's topic in Members Gallery
Thanks for your comments mate, Unfortunatly mine wont be at inters as its far from finished. But if you ever up my way feel free to pop in and have a look -
As I said in my first post most of the cost is down to the amount of prep needed, if there are any dents etc then theres more labour to pay for. Being a straight colour and not metallic it should be cheaper...your best bet is to ask freinds etc who they would recommend and get some quotes.
-
The rules on body shops using water based paints have been reversed, they can still use solvent based paint
-
If theres not too much prep work like dents etc youd be looking at about £800 for a half decent job on a straight colour, metallics cost more usualy but its mostly down to the amount of prep needed

Non corrado related - Audi TDI (possible turbo)

You wont tell 100% externally, you can check if the wastegate actuator arm is moving up and down easily (this controls the vane) but it can feel fine and still be sticking internally. -
Non corrado related - Audi TDI (possible turbo)
nemesis360 replied to herisites's topic in Engine Bay
The turbo is a variable vane unit, Id be 99% sure the vane is stuck and the turbo is over boosting. The momentary loss of power is the ecu cutting into limp mode to protect the engine . As its over boosting Id say one of the boost pipes has popped off causing the smoke and loud noise. Really common problem, I probably fix 2 a month on average. No need for a new turbo, take it off send it to me and Ill sort it out for you if you want. -
Shame to see it go mate...but it sounds like its off to a good home. I love MK2's I got hold of an A3 1.8t quattro recently and sold my MK2 but Im selling the A3 and getting another one now. Will you be at any shows this year or are you "travelling" again?
