    SCARY ABS

I'm very intersted to hear the outcome of this too. Since lowering my car the abs has been very off and on. Excactly the same symptoms as stated by Storm2, if the light is out and the abs is "working" then when gently braking up to a junction you can feel the brake peddle push up against your foot and the car brakes very heavily with abs kicking in. But when you go over a bump the light comes on, the abs stops working but the car breaks normally. I dread starting the car and seeing the abs light out, and i aim for a cats eye to ensure a safe journey to work
  2. I've been slowly upgrading my sound system as and when i can afford it, because none of the standard stuff was working at all when i bought the car. I have some components up front running off a genesis stereo 100 amp. Then i got an old JBl gt-3 in the boot running off an alpine 1200. This all sounds pretty acceptable but i'm lacking some punch and mid range. Can i just slap some 6x4's in the shelf supports and run them off the genesis amp too? Or should i sell the genesis and buy a 4 channel amp. Thanks for any advice.
  3. They won't fit yet... Gonna get the acrhes sorted and purchase some good coilies for the spring. Then they'll go on. I'll just run these bbs over winter then get them refurbed while the brocks are on. I still love the the bbs, just hate spending every sunday morning scrubbing them clean  Plus who doesn't love some filthy dish? (Old people)
  4. Yeah well my sceptical friends reckon thats pretty suss'. Plenty of good stuff to pinch from the car, could make someone a small fortune if they knew what they were doing. I'm still fighting the insurance company now. The guy never accepted responsibility and so i still haven't got my no claims back, or any compensation. Its so frustrating! But at least i have another 'rado to concentrate on, got a long old list of things i want to do as funds permit. Watch this space
  5. Hmmm i might try taking that pipe off then, see how it sounds. Could put the charcoal cannister back in then too. As for the green vr the insurance company lost it, never found out where it actually went. They told me it was at bristol street motors in Gloucester but when i went there they'd not seen a green vr6 come there at all. The tail gate was screwed from the crash anyway :(
  6. Well i decided it was time to upgrade the induction and exhaust. Went for a miltek exhaust system and BMC CDA induction kit, after reading very good reports for the two. I must say i'm very impressed with the milteks build quality and subtle exhaust note, well worth looking at if you want to change your exhaust. The BMC CDA was an upgrade to an old k&n i had. I know the bmc is supposed to be significantly better than a k&n. But i have to say the sound it makes isn't a patch on the K&n. The bmc sounds so much harsher, the k&n had such a deep throaty roar that i shall miss, where as the bmc sounds a little weak. A totally different sound. Anyone else been dissapointed with the sound of a bmc cda after a simple cone filter? I'm not about to change it over again but it was hoping for more from the bmc kit. Sorry for poor pics, but it was freezing cold and the sun was low. I just wanted to get back into my warm car and drive home :)
  7. There was oil on one of the leads, and around the top of the spark plug. Oil could have leaked from the cam gover gasket and straight down onto the spark plug. I'm going to have a look to see if theres evidence of this in the daylight tomorrow. Could explain why the oil is going so fast. Its also using a very small amount f water...
  8. Well after ordering some new plugs as it was still missfiring today, it then decided that once i'd paid money for the plugs it'd spring back into life... I guess i'll have to take it to the garage to see what they say.
  9. The head was rebuilt less than 6 months ago, but about 2 months ago it started misfiring. Starting checking the plugs and got to one that was covered in really hard crap... Cleaned that off and it was fine. This evening it started misfiring on the way back from putting a 500 quid deposit down at the garage for my new exhaust and bmc cda. So again I started taking the plugs out, 6 was oily so cleaned it off, still misfiring. Took the lead off number 2 and that was oily, so was around the plug, took out the plug that was also covered in oil so cleaned that off, but still its misfiring. How can oil get past the plug? Could it be leaking down from the head gasket? As i'm sure you've guessed i'm clueless when it comes to car mechanics... Its dark and raining so i'm not loving this, shall i take the plugs out again and make sure they're super super clean, and leave them out for a while for the oil to run off?
  10. The numberplate was on there first time i drove past, when i went past the next day he'd taken it off. Suprised its been left there for so long, was on thursday night i think.
  11. You don't see many RS6's round my neck of the woods so my eyes popped out of my head when i saw this. They must have been giving it some to lose it, and it definitely isn't the road for it. Its still sat there now so i'm starting to wonder if i'll ever get that engine in meh rado...
  12. I've only just noticed this thread is still going. The problems with my vr were fixed, the poor power was down to faulty knock sensors, but they should show up in vagcom? When these were replaced the car ran exactly as it should. Getting hold of the knock sensors wasn't so easy though, took the garage about 3 weeks?! Plus when fitting them they knocked a water pipe and split it so i had to wait another couple of days for them to fix all of that :?
  13. The pictures don't really do it justice, looking awesome now. Looks as though the splitter might be catching a wee bit though
  14. So sorry to see another corrado written off, you must be absolutely gutted. Really does go to show what they can take though. Best of luck sorting everything out.
  15. Got some tints from empire gfx, and i think they make the world of difference to the overall appearance of the car. Looks so much better, also in the process of sorting out a sound system for it because the original one still in it doesn't work anymore.
  16. Well it looks like none of the cage actually extends forwards of the B-pillar, so loads of room to get into the passenger seat  Still no door handles though
  17. How do the passengers get in?
  18. Yeah the engine should run fine with a faulty knock sensor, just at a reduced performance as it'll pull the timing back as much as 10 degrees? Someone will correct me i'm sure. But i haven't had any luck finding a supplier yet. Avoiding dealer until its a last resort.
  19. I've been up to see this guy, and he seemed fine to me. Not necessarily a "Corrado Specialist" as he states. He just buys and sells them, didn't seem particularly knowledgeable, and had never heard of this forum. I bought a 2.0 16v from him, which when i got home wouldn't start and was revving its tits off when warm, so i obviously wasn't at all happy, but he gave me a full refund on the car. Seemed genuine enough i thought, but that blue one had also had a fresh respray that wasn't all that great, which he denied all knowledge of. Worth considering as he does get a fair few cars go through is hands, but as people say, just treat it as any other private sale and check everything. After all he's trying to make a living out of it...
  20. Well would you believe it, they were on my doorstep when i got home from work
  21. Right well i got the oil leak sorted, it was the oil pressure regulator or something? The large bolt to the back right hand side of the block. The copper washer on there wasn't up to the job so replaced that and now more leak :) I think the poor running is definitely down to the knock sensors, but i can't buy any at the moment, even my garage said they couldn't get them?? One thing that concerned me, when looking under the bonnet to check for the oil leak, after just getting it back from the head rebuild, i saw these little fella's were all completely loose!! All three of the bolts along the bottem of the inlet manifold were not done up.... Suprised it even ran!
  22. I placed an order with them on the 3rd of June, and paid straight away with paypal. Ordered some tinted overlays for my rear lights. But i've not heard a peep from them. If i go to order history, it just says "processed" and has done for 3 weeks now. They don't respond to e-mails either, just wondering if i'm being too impatient... How long did you guys have to wait?
  23. Thats always been the plan yeah, but as its taken 6 weeks plus for them to sort it out, i'm not sure where my car is, or what condition its in. Gonna be on the phone tomorrow to sort it all out :) I got a few things i want off the car myself, but everything pretty much will be for sale :D Except the exhaust and the gear knob
  24. I got my second offer today, of 3k!! Almost twice what they offered me first time. So i'm very pleased with that. Still doesn't come close to what i've spent replacing my beloved green vr... Just had the red one back from the garage after having to have the head overhauled and its still not right so i'm fairly angry! :(
