  1. Collecting all the bits and pieces together for a serious clean of my C, but just have a question? What's the difference between the Carnuba Wax, Stage 3 with the 3-Step Meguiars series and their seperate Clear Coat Liquid Car Wax? :? Many thanks
  2. Hello John-M, Have you tried your 4 stage process yet? In a similar situation in that I've got the 3-stage meguiars stuff, which includes the Carnuba Wax, but also got the more pricey Clear Coat Liquid Wax as well. Would be interested to know how you got on? Especially with leaving the wax on for 24 hours?
  3. Sunday - Corrado drinking petrol and stinks of fuel. :? Monday Bank Holiday - recovering from hang-over. Tip, don't try pint cocktails of red wine and Jack D. Tuesday - 8.30am Take car to garage for service and mot. Phone call from garage at 12noon. Oh dear this can't be good. Car failed spectacularly on emmissions, so high the machine can't read it! Lambda probe suspected. Kerching! New one ordered. This is going to be expensive. :( Wednesday - no news from garage. Surely no news is good news. Then remember its a Corrado. Thursday - News from the garage. Probe fitted and car passed. :D Then told of cost :( Friday - Can pick it up :D Friday - Also need to pay for it :( Can only wonder what Saturday may bring............

    corrado haynes

Has anyone ever contacted Haynes and found out why?
  5. Sniff..............no G60's?
  6. Been to a couple of the local Barnsley area Halfords and they have a 3 for 2 offer on all car cleaning products, even hose stuff at the moment. You can mix and mingle brands, with obviously the lowest priced item free. Not sure if national. But good offer for stocking up on stuff. :)

So there are some benefits to getting older! From what I can remember from ringing round last year, some of the specialist VW insurance firms will insure you depending on your bhp rather than your mods, had a long conversation with Brentacre, as the guy had a C. So definately worth ringing round, even though it is a pain constantly repeating the same information.
  8. Thanks for the tip mate. Had a look on the website and all I could find on polishing/waxing was a link to this:- http://www.properautocare.com/byhand2.html Plenty of guides on washing/swirl removal/claying though. Cheers. Just found this on Matey-Matey with pics. :D :D http://www.matey-matey.com/detailing.shtml
  9. Now realise where I've been going wrong all these years! :( Going through the guides for a complete clean I need to:- Wash - clay - wash again - scratch removalx2 - wash again - then polish - finishing off with wax. Is that right? What do's and dont's would you suggest with the polishing/waxing? Is their guides anywhere? And the best products? Thanks for the help. :D
  10. Tried a few owners that were breaking C's on the Forum, but so far no luck, as there's were missing too! Will keep trying. Local Stealers said they would try to see if they are still available from Germany. But four weeks on and still no phone call. Don't think they are that bothered for a few bits of plastic for a couple of quid. :(
  11. Yes, I was thinking more in line with cost. Anyone know what size arms will fit the C and still work? Or does it have to be a set length?
  12. Lost one of the plastic corner covers which cover the two bottom screws that hold the dial guage to the dashboard. Local Stealers say they are obsolete. Anyone know where I can get any from? Help muchly appreciated. :D
  13. The original style gearknobs are still available from the Stealers for about £20. You can also still get the original leather handbrake handles as well from the stealers, but need to be ordered from Germany for you. Yep, also bought a leather handbrake cover, still pondering on the best way to fit it, as my handbrake is slightly wonky.
  14. Would like to go for black or dark graphite coloured alloys on my C, the style of the TSW's I've already got on really suit the car, but fancy them in a different colour, and was wondering on the cost and how they would last if I had them cleaned and re-done? I know it would be cheaper than a new set, but does the new colour stay good over time and wear? Anybody had it done?
  15. Was just wondering if anyone had tried any of the wipers fitted to the Seat Ibiza or Leon on a C?
  16. Hello mate, thanks for the posts. What do I want to be looking for with the FPR pipe & TB switches?
  17. Unlike the other recent post of a stutter when accelerating, my 91 G60 has suddenly developed a hesitation/stutter when I take my foot off the gas. Any suggestions or advice? Only just got over a series of coolant problems so not looking forward to more expense. :( With the bonnet up and revving the engine by hand, as soon as I stop the whole engine block jumps while the exhaust just makes farting sounds. The stutter happens in all gears while out on the road whenever I take my foot off the go pedal. Its only slight at the moment but worried its a simptom of something worse to come. Help appreciated.
  18. Yes, thats what I've been pondering, about the alarm. Most modern systems have a catch on the bonnet to set the alarm off if anyone tries to get into the engine bay, had one added to my C system a few years ago, so what happened with his Scooby one? Never heard of any probs when they were at Doncaster. Stopped going when it turned from a custom car show to a 'chavs' day release outing'. But the organisers are just as much to blame, as thats how its marketed.
  19. Can you use a clay bar indefinately? Just wondering how many times you can use it before you get problems with trapped in dirt, etc.
  20. With how much the Donny Show is surely there is some kind of Security?!
  21. You will also, with C ownership, be on first name turns with your local garage mechanics, parts supplier, within the first six months of buying one. Who will also pull out a holiday brochure and begin rubbing hands together as they recognise your voice on the phone or as you pull up to the garage/shop.
  22. Best mates got an old Vuaxhal Cavalier, in white, which looks like a complete Taxi. For which he gets constant stick. BUT, it starts first time in all weathers, fits all his family in, with shopping, and cost him sweet FA to buy and run. So far in 2 years of ownership its needed two new tyres. Unlike my G60, (which has sprung a leak again), which is in a constant state of sat on the drive waiting to be fixed/part to arrive, or to be taken to garage. Not sure who's getting the last laugh?! :?
  23. Nope, got a new Corrado one from the Stealers. Bugger. :(
  24. Went to the Stealers a few weeks ago, both parts back in stock and about £4 for the bolt and washer. Added to my list for next visit to garage. Cheers for warning.
  25. My gaitor's got a metal clip at the top. How do I attach it to my new gear knob?
