Got one for the girlfriends car for the winter for overnight frosts, etc. One word of advice after the recent weather, no cover is gale force wind proof!

Might not be classed as a MOD but being in a reputable car club can provide some discount from insurers. Have also had this argument with Insurers over bigger or better brakes adding to the cost of insurance. "Yes if you keep your current bog standard 17 year plus set-up your insurance will remain the same, but if you add state of the art stoppers which are more reliable, work in the wet and reduce braking distance and therefore safety, you wll have to pay more" :?

I think most people forget that owning and driving a car isn't a 'god given right' but a privalage. But unfortunately some people are more privalaged than others. If you travel on public transport the vast majority of users are the elderly, teenagers and mothers with toddlers. People without the funds for a car, not eco warriors. :? As per most of the other posts, this problem and everything else it relates to could be sorted tommorrow, but we are shafted by the powers that be, ie corporations, who are more powerfull than governments. Conspiracy, conspiracy....!! :D

Glad you found this and resurrected the query, as thinking of this myself at the moment, but as more of a weight losing exercise. Anybody done it or got any pics? Cheers.

Same here mate. Had a hole in the side of mine! But got it patched up and the side resprayed and had no problems since. Didn't help that a previous owner had tried to bodge it up and stop it rusting by using expanding foam!

If they don't recognise non-UK plates and are aimed and preventing terrorism, (cough, splutter, bullsh*t, cough), then instead of international terrorists flying into the country, all they need to do is drive here?

This is also on my 'to do' list in the next few months. Supercharged, what other belts would you recomend getting done at the same time for 'peace of mind'? Cheers.

Considering this myself, but stuck as to which is the best and more practical, roof bars or one attached to the tailgate? Presume you have to remember not to put anything in the boot before you strap your tailgate rack on?

Now this hacks me off a bit. The German Style plates clearly show the letters and numbers in a correct manner which can be seen by the naked eye. Whereas some t*sser that carefully repositions the mounting screw on his reg plate to make a different letter or number is clearly breaking the law, as the plate can be misread by both camera's and the naked eye! Surely this is more a case of the policeforce updating their recognition software? Otherwise how do they do this around Europe? :?

At the moment I think C's are worth more in parts than as a proper car. Tried selling mine a few weeks ago and the best offer was around £1100. Which is a bit poor considering I could have got more money with the offers that came in for certain bits off it, such as the leather interior, VW reg plate, alloys and the supercharger. :( Just the wrong time of year. Everyone skint after Crimbo or paying for this years hols. Oh and with the current weather a boat or sledge might be more suitable as a mode of transport for some.

Cheers for the advice. :D

Looking for some advice. :( While I'm removing my leather door cards for another job, I also want to tidy up the edges as the leather has come off of the back of the card and looks a mess. My main questions is whats' the best thing to use to stick it back on? Thought about staples but the card isn't thick enough for the smallest ones I've found so far, (6mm), so looking for another option? Maybe some kind of glue/epoxy? But which will do the job pretty quickly and not end up all over the place or knacker the leather? Any advice appreciated. Also, do you need to remove the back seats to remove the rear door cards? :?

Did you get the centre piece with the Momo wheel? Usually plastic. Should have a couple of wires sticking out the back to make the horn mechanism work.

Noticed these on Ebay and not too far away. Anybody had dealings with them? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-CORRADO-G ... dZViewItem Have got a few negative feedbacks. Quted me £300 for Supercharger rebuild. http://www.vortechsports.co.uk/5801.html PS. This is there website:-

Like the air ducts on the bonnet of the G60! Are they cut in or a piece grafted in?

Anybody suggest something to remove a bit of overspray on a set of alloys? Bit reluctant to try anything and ruin the alloys as there in really good knick. Any help appreciated. :D

Had various different responses from my local VW Dealership, Hayseldens. Obviously owning a C I'm at the parts desk quite alot. One of the guys knows a bit about Corrado's and he is happy to look through the computer system, has even previously rung to see if its possible to still get the parts from Germany. Although even he has off days, as I enquired about some small bits of plastic trim and he never rung back after calling and then going into the dealership in person. Probably because the cost of the phone call would be more than the trim piece! :( But I have also been to the parts desk to be met by sum yoof who had never even heard of a 'Corrado'! How did he get a job at a VW garage!!!

Welcome to Corrado ownership!

He turned down the offer of having a new MOT put on the car???? Then when it does fail he's fishing for some money back????? He's having a giraffe!

Think I'm going to stop keeping up with this thread as an Ibiza Cupra also sounds tempting?! :?

Needing some advice. I've got a 91 Corrado G60, which I've owned for about 18 months, the car has a second-hand supercharger allegedly fitted by the previous owner, so the mileage is completely unknown. Anyway for peace of mind I would like to get a full service on my supercharger in the summer, (Crimbo, hols, bits on house to pay for unfortunately first), with also a polish and chip/pulley while its in pieces. But where to take it to? I know everyone will say G-Werks, but I live in South Yorkshire so this means a very long trek, couple of days stay while the work is done and also if anything does go wrong a very long trek back to get anything checked or replaced, (plus cost of travel, B&B, etc). Jabbasport are closer, but no-one seems to rate them for G60's. Any help or advice appreciated. :(

Had Laserline in the last couple of cars I've had, without any problems and have various options on how secure you want your car to be with numerous different add on sensors, such as for movement, etc. Cat 1 cost me £300 all in, with lifetime warranty as long as I own the car, free check up every 12 months by the local specialist. :)

Where do I get a new door membrane for a Corrado? Have the same problem and working my way through all the possibilities.

Should have kept my gob shut! Moment I mention selling my C and the girlfriends car is violated by a F*rd KA! Ended up with a massive scrape down the side and so its off to the bodyshop for some serious re-touching, including the alloys for some reason?! No courtesy car with her insurance company so the Corrado's needed for a few weeks at least for her trek to work, shops and kids, etc. Think this is a message from above that I should keep my C just in case. :?
-
Have to admit that at the moment I'm also thinking of selling the C. The car only gets a run out once or twice a week, as I walk to work and the girlfriend has her own car, which is alot more practical for shopping, kids, holiday trips, etc. (C boot full with ICE gear and tools). Had it for about 18 months and the list of jobs to do on it never seems to diminish, on top of the bits that seem to go wrong every few months. BUT.............I still enjoy driving it and I'll never get anywhere near what I bought it for, never mind the money I've spent on it over the past year or so. So at the moment I have full sympathy for you. Let us know how you get on. :(
