I felt quite chuffed this morning, i was at a T-junction in busy morning rush hour waiting to be let out. Then a mini bus full of guys (must of been a football team) turned into the road i was on (slowly) and the driver pointed to my car and then all the guys looked out the windows and were putting their thumbs up :D it certainly cheered me up for another days work! Rob.

"I dont like it!" -
Automatic choke maybe?
-
Yeah but they also seem to get dirty quicker   I now have Bendy's old Brocks and the et30's dont fit over the calipers but mine are 16's so 17's might be ok although et35 will be even closer so you may still get issues i reckon. I need to grind mine down so Ben i will be looking at your asap really :D Oh and the tyres are far too big, i have 215/40's on my 9's and they catch so ideally you would want 205/40's. Rob.

Neil i have a 215/40's on my 9x16's and they are just the right stretch. My wheels originally had 195/40's which was just a silly stretch  but now i have 215's its much better. But i do get rubbing but thats because i have not yet rolled my arches!! Rob.

Yeah easy mate, if you drive sensible especially long distance you can average over 30mpg every day of the week. But if you drive it like you nicked it you will be lucky to see 20 :D Im 20 and have a vr as an every day driver and i had a nice economical 1.6 fiesta before and its only costing me about £10-£15 a week more in petrol and tax etc isnt much more. Only thing that was a lot more for me though was insurance being 20 but meh who cares  Sorry to hear about your car though mate, im sure you could buy it back dirt cheap off the insurance and get it fixed up for less than buying a new one. Good luck with it. Rob. -
Cheers Neil, oh and its my amusing 'sig of the day'

Yeah i will try and get some up later on as i am back at work today :(

My dad still calls mine a scirocco as well as my gf's dad. I also hate it when people ask what car i have because i know they will just look blank  although i was totally shocked one day when a lady from the office near mine was talking to me and asked what car i am getting, i said "you wont know it but its a vw corrado vr6" and she said "Brilliant cars, i hope you are getting a blackberry one they are the best!" i was gobsmacked  I also get told its a ladies car because its purple and i should also buy some tyres that fit (now i have my Brocks on). And when i first got it my mum kept saying "But its so old, why dont you buy something new like a fiesta or a clio" errr no thanks  Oh and my mate is always calling it either a corradA or coraldo etc when will they learn :( Its all good fun though  -
and im spent

UPDATE ON WHEELS AND TYRES Ok so yesterday i went home early from work due to the damn cold virus going around at the moment :nurse: :( so i thought instead of lying around in bed i would go and get my tyres fitted and put my wheels on :D I went down my local Orbit tyres and asked for a price for Toyo's on all four wheels at 205/40 but they only done budgets in that size as i thought, i then asked for a price on 215/35 and i couldnt afford them  so in the end i went for 215/40's and they look great on the wheels, just a nice stretch but nothing silly. I fitted my wheels and so far general driving they dont catch, but the fronts do when i hammer it round a roundabout or go over a large dip/bump etc so i will be rolling my front arches! I will get some pics later on at some point and get them posted but im sure you can imagine how sexy it looks  Thanks for everyone's help btw! Rob.

Hi mate, do you have any pics of your car so i can see how they look stretch wise? Also do you catch them? Have you had archwork etc etc? I had a look for some 215/40's on mytyres and the price seems good for more tyre! Thanks for the links Ben, mytyres seems best but i know the guys down orbit near me so if they can come close on some toyo's i may just go for them. Rob.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Im guessing from your sig that you are getting a VR6? And its good to see another Northants member, where abouts in Northants are you from mate? Rob.
-
Dont know i havent fitted them yet  but Ben had them on his vr and et30 on their own catch but with the spacers its supposed to minimise catching on the calipers. Yeah the 195's are silly stretched  but i think the 205/45's will look much better. I imagine i will get tramlining but at the end of the day the wheels are for looks over practicality and they look great :D Rob.

I pretty much know what i am looking for when checking the cars, i wouldnt of bought a vr if i didnt  I am going to have a look with her tonight and poss go see some at weekend so hopefully we find a decent one soon enough as she is without transport at the mo and needs to get to uni! nah i'd want to swap her for more than a GTI lol. Anyway on a serious note that Mk2 does look a beauty but its the measly 1.3 which as markievw says are underpowered and my sis does like a bit of power. And thank for your help markievw i will mention that to her. Rob.
