  1. Cheers for the info Coxy mate, hopefully the throttle calibration will make the response a little smoother  I'm just gunna get it insured this week and take it to Stealth, we can have a good natter about a few things then tbh. And yeah I'm ready to be raped by the insurance companies :( I haven't even braved getting a quote yet  Hopefully it won't be too much, my renewal for the car with the standard VR6 lump was £450 fully comp, and I can get insured on a brand new R32 for £800 fully comp which is bloody good considering I'm only 23  4 years ncb help with things though. I'm expecting around the £700-800 mark tbh which I was kind of expecting. If it's loads more I don't know what I'll do as just bought my first house so things will be tight at ~£80pm  I'll just have to keep using my dad's audi and have the C on low mileage or use my dad as the main driver or something, I'll figure it out!
  2. Well Kev's gone already, didn't quite go as I'd hoped :( We got the rev counter working, tried wiring up the water and oil temp/pressure senders but didn't seem to work as we thought so still nothing getting to the clocks (and an annoying buzzing now that won't stop!). We did however take it for a spin, and it's not 100% happy and seems to be in limp mode, silly Kevin forgot his VAG-COM lead :brickwall: so we couldn't see what it was unhappy about either. It's running rich and is not happy at all idling when hot, revving it is perfectly crisp (and sounds lush) but when dropping back to idle it's very lump and almost dies. It should hopefully just be something simple, but need to get it to Vince really so we can double check everything. Felt good to get back in it though
  3. Leon mate I was talking bollox about the oil senders on the oil filter housing. I thought there were 3 for some reason but it's the same as the VR mate, 1 black and 1 blue. I've got the black one at the back replacing the original R32 sender, then the blue one sticking out the front after removing the star headed blanking screw. Hope this helps a bit! Soz for confusion
  4. Looks awesome 8) What's the demand for web developers out there?
  5. Car looks stunning mate! :notworthy: The place isn't bad either 8)
  6. Indeed! I have developed a bit of a DBW pedal fetish since working on your car. That pedal Neil lent us I actually wired up to my pedal bin in the kitchen, so now it opens electronically :D What else can we wire a pedal up to on your car?!? Foot operated wipers?! Seriously??! You need to get out more Kev :cuckoo:
  7. Finger's crossed for tomorrow as me and Kev should hopefully get the last few jobs done and we can start testing it properly!!
  8. Yep bigger injectors won't do sod all difference unless vastly more air is being forced through by means of a turbo or charger, in which case you need higher flowing injectors to allow for the extra fuel.
  9. Yaaaayyyy!!
  10. yes it is, I am a build contributor as well. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4518979 Looks like a great project you have going on there mate! :notworthy:
  11. Car's looking lush mate! :notworthy: Would love to see this in the metal some time 8)
  12. Wow!! You don't do things by half do you! If it's only a few wires that come out of the ECU to the cabin, how come you had Stealth do the work? I wonder what the other terminals control. You using standard clocks? Just thought that's what I would have liked to see when I was trying to figure it all out!! Well only a few come out the ECU and go in to the cabin but that's after Stealth had sorted out the rest of the wiring! There's still a lot of it and I wouldn't have known where to start! There's no way near as much as there was to start with. Tbh I'm not sure what you have and what you don't so I can't really comment on how easy/hard it would be, your best option is speaking to Vince or someone. He charged £650+VAT to do my wiring which was basically handing him everything from the car and being given back a nice neat selection of engine wiring all wrapped up and labelled etc with instructions ready to just plug in, plus the ECU had the immobilizer remove, all un-needed things flashed and it was remapped. I thought that was good value really. Yeah I'm running the standard clocks, that's actually another wire or 2 that'll be going in to the dash as I have had to use a CAN-BUS converter for the clocks for the RPM to work.
  13. Sorry dude, had a quick look and noted down a few but I started confusing myself and loosing track of some of the wires which were starting to all look the same   For now I have just made you a litte diagram of the DBW Pedal wiring, good old MS Paint  Not really a massive help to you at the min but I'm finishing off my wiring to the dash this weekend so will try and remember to note everything down as we go along.
  14. Sh!t sorry dude, I knew there was somethig I'd forgotten to do! I'll go out and note it all down now for you :salute:
  15. Wow only just looked at this thread, car looks stunning and the best colour too! Those wheels are awesome, they are what I would like for mine at some point but couldn't spend that much on wheels :( engines is a different story though!
  16. If you want some help with that mate gimme a shout :salute:
  17. Yep interior certainly is next, can't wait :D Mmmm blackberry with beige interior
  18. Not quite yet, I wanna drive the bloody thing for a bit first!!
  19. Hi mate, Machine polishing (or mopping) will certainly bring the paint back to life a lot! It will help remove light scratches (mainly swirls from bad washing techniques etc) and help to fade deeper scratches although won't completely remove them. It won't however do anything with stone chips other than perhaps fade some of the lighter ones. These would need touching up or re-painting. Everyone has them though and you might find that with the paint brought back to life and some of the scratches faded/removed you won't be so bothered (it is 17 years old after all!) I used to do machine polishing and have done a few forum members cars, you can see these in my thread HERE they have all been very happy with the results. I haven't done it for a while though as in full time work etc now and with doing my R32 conversion etc haven't had the time, but when I'm back on the road (touch wood next week!) I am thinking of doing the odd job again as just bought my first home so any spare cash would be useful!! If you are interested PM me and I will let you know some more details. :salute:
  20. You can use 12v or 4mo I believe. I think some people have used the 12v tensioner, but I got a 4mo one which is pretty much the same. Yep you need all VR sensors as the clocks won't speak with the R32 ones. IIRC it's 2 blue sensors and 1 black, I might be wrong though and it's 2 black one blue  I can't see them now I have put it all back together, typical  Nope there is somewhere for it, on the front of the oil filter housing you should see a star headed screw, you can plug a VR oil pressure sender in there. I might have to take the front end off again next weekend when Kev comes, so if I do I will try and remember to get pics of it all for you. I have a pic of the VR oil cooler on though and the coolant pipes that you phoned me about yesterday, I'll PM you it.
  21. It was just up and down my little cul-de-sac street mate, I wouldn't drive it out on the main roads like it! It was just to test it.
  22. Looks really good! I really miss those wheels sometime, especially when I see how good they look on yours! Mmm Porsche seats, they'll look great trimmed the same as the rest of the interior :notworthy:
