Yeah there are some tarmac surfaces which you just need to look at to think "I aint getting grip on that for sh*t!" it looks shiny compared to grippy tarmac. Seems to be on roundabouts a lot round my way too, mainly large roundabouts off of dual carriageways etc, no grip at all.

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=22550 Anyone else think the new Audi Quattro concept is quite Corrado-esque from the side view?

Hour, hour and a half ish with couple of coffee breaks and faffing about a bit  Mind you I had a complete column so it was just remove the old one (drilling sheer bolts out), swap the ignition barrels over, then fit the fixed column (bit of faffing about getting the UJ on etc).

Yeah not as nice imo :|

What tyres have you got on? Plenty of tread means jack sh*t if they're sh*t tyres to begin with  I've had similar issued before when on budget tyres. Never had the back end come out once since using half decent tyres, even with very worn rear bushes!

Page 27 mate ;)

It's easy to fit mate. If you look back through this thread there are some detailed pics CrazyDave put up of when I fitted mine. The only thing you really need to know is that you'll need to grind down one of the corners of the head to give some clearance for the bracket and pullies etc, it's shown in the pics though.

I've had both, both similar power as well Rotrexed VR was ~270bhp the R32 is 278bhp. The car was a LOT easier to drive with the Rotrex on, it drove just like a normal VR only quicker! Don't get me wrong I love the R32 engine, it's effortlessly quick, but for every day drivability it's hard work, especially through town and in traffic. The throttle is very responsive which is great when you want to go quickly, but when you just want a relaxing drive or you're in traffic it's a bit of a PITA tbh and can be very 'snappy'. Also the torque on the R32 comes in very low down so in the wet it's hard work again, tbh I'm used to it now and I find the Kumho's I have on my Rota's are impressive in the wet and I can actually drive mine pretty quick in the wet, but it only takes a slight touch too much of the throttle and it'll spin the wheels forever. I imagine with a diff or with the Racelogic traction control etc it would be a lot better though! I don't want to sound like I don't like the R32 conversion though as I do, I love it most days, it is a great engine, sounds fantastic, effortlessly quick and for me I went from a ~150k mile engine to a less than 10k mile engine with more power and for about the same money as going supercharged so it was a bit of a no brainer for me. I've been in Kev's car and it's in another league to mine, smooth standard VR like drivability but put your foot down and it goes like a bastard! And it's smooth power delivery, which is down to Kev's time and effort doing it all to a very good standard, it's not just lag lag lag SHIT WE'RE OFF!!!

If you do I'll have to unleash the Guns on you they're staying put!

Well it's about time!! *cough* scenester *cough*

That's my insurance sorted for another year thank god! Went with Greenlight in the end surprise surprise! Brentacre tried again to match but still couldn't get below £900 but with direct debit would still be a grand, Greenlight were £200 cheaper on direct debit which in total put it up to just over £800. Glad that's sorted, just need to send proof of no claims and I can forget about it for another year

I was there with you when you bought it, and yeah I remember it flexing a bit more than you'd want!! These certainly look nice, I got given a basic one not so long back and my car's no longer too low so it does me, otherwise I'd have one of these in a shot!
-
It shouldn't need topping up really as it doesn't go anywhere  so either it's been changed before and not enough was put in or you've got a leaking gearbox! Either way it's easy to do really, you just need a very large allen head socket set (can't remember the size, think it's 20 something so it's big!), undo the top one first so you don't drain the oil to find you can't fill it back up! Then undo the bottom one and drain the oil (smells like peanuts!). Then just fill it up, although it's not easy to get to so I always use a funnel and a small length of hose to fill it up. Think it takes about 1.7 litres, but basically just fill until it starts to come out the fill hole. Simple!

Fitted my cowling yesterday, fits a treat and looks a lot better than having no cowling at all  I now have the bottom half of an early cowling going spare though so again if someone has/can get the top half then we can make up a complete cowling.

That's not bad for an engine, my R32 lump cost £1500! Would love to see an S3 2.0 TFSI lump in a corrado, I bet it would be awesome!
-
Me too! On 2 monitors as well

Yeah was gunna say, might look better lower with 205's on but yours would drive better. I definitely think I'm going 215's on the front as well when the 205's wear out, loving how comfortable the rear end feels now even with the stiffer springs on and the damping turned up, feels firmer but not as crashy!
-
They look great against the red! 8) Are you running 205 tyres? Kev's is running 215's which look a bit balloony as well compared to the 205's, that and his front camber was way too positive made them look a bit awkward on his. Looked much better with the camber corrected though

... to have a Corrado in your line of sight whilst working!! We've had to park out on the road today as had loads of clients in work so they get to use our parking spaces so I made sure I parked the car where I could see it, and yep I'm hardly getting anything done, just looking outside drooling and dreaming of what to do next  Anyone else have this problem??

Brentacre can't get anywhere near Greenlight's quote, the best they can do is £900 but with a £500 excess! The guy said that it's a cracking deal Greenlight are quoting and they won't be able to get near it, the tone of his voice was quite amusing actually as he didn't even try and get me to renew just said "well if you decide you want to pay more and stick with us just give us a call"
-
I think Greenlight are going to be hard to match! As said before I got my renewal through from Brentacre at £1009, but got a quote from Greenlight for £727 (I rang them yesterday to confirm everything was correct and it was!). I just phoned Brentacre and told them I got a much lower quote and they've asked me to send them proof (forwarded them the email from Greenlight) so they can see if they can match it (or at least get close!). So now I just play the waiting game

I think general consensus is if you want to keep the passive rear stear then go with standards, pattern ones don't last half as long as genuines so worth saving a bit more and fitting genuines. Standard ones are harder to fit as need to be properly pressed in etc where as Powerflex you can just grease up and push in by hand (once the old ones are out!). Powerflex gets rid of the passive rear steering, last a long time but are often said to give a slightly more crashy ride.

This is the next thing on my list I think, flip the tie rod's and figure out a way of extending the BJ's a similar amount. Thinking of the BJ's, surely some form of extenders for the VR6 (plus) BJ's would be easy enough for some fabrication company to knock up? It would just need to be a tube with thread tapped in the bottom for the BJ to screw in to and then a threaded top to connect to the hub?? I'm sure we would get a fair bit of interest on here for some to make it worth the company's time/effort! Kev, just thinking it might be worth talking with Geoff about this as it may be piss easy to do by someone he knows?? Something like this:

Try using the search dude, this has come up MANY times before  http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=97033
