I got a crack in my screen recently so it's going to need replacing soon and I'm dreading it now after hearing so many bad stories :(

You'll need softer front springs for the valver mate! Up to you about the rear springs on the GAZ. I know that I can just turn up the damping and mine will turn in better etc, but like Kev said harder springs are more forgiving than hardened damping. I don't think you'd lose much comfort as long as you turned the damping down to suit. My Weitec rears were rated 100lb more than the GAZ yet with the damping turned up on the GAZ's they feel the same!

Yeah I think that is a lot of the problem hence why I spent the day felting loads of it :lol: it's not too bad now, but when I 'crash' over something there's still noise, and I think the dash is a lot of it!

Yeah think the high speed bump is the culprit as I'm not running mine that low, same as with the Weitecs as these GAZ's still feel quite similar over some pot holes and ruts etc that I can't always avoid, hit them with a bang and the whole interior rattles and I go from :D to :censored:

Yeah, they reckon they're the right rates for the Corrado but like Kev pointed out, they're being too cautious and ruling out the chance of lift off oversteer, that's what they told me anyway. I reckon they're just covering themselves so chavvy boy racers don't go finding ditches and then go blaming the suspension. The car does drive fine with the 375/180's on but I just find the rear a bit soggy, mind you I only have mine on about 15 clicks at the back, I found ~20 clicks to be too crashy and it started to get bouncy as I think the soft springs and hard damping were starting to fight against each other a bit :lol: Front's I have about half way so they can dive a little bit more allowing the back end to come round a bit easier. End of the day though it's based on the individual and the roads around me aren't the greatest so I want a little bit more forgiveness in the ride, and the Weitecs (with 400/280) were just way too crashy for my liking, although handling and turn in was very good! It won't be a case of I'm gunna get the ~225 rears and then leave it at that though, I like playing around with my car too much :lol: and between me and Kev we'll have all the following spring rates to experiment with: 400/400/375/343/280/275/228/225 :cheers: He's pretty happy with his 343/228 combo on V3's and I've been in his car and I was very impressed, although he's itching to go for the 400/275 setup again so I might try his 343's on mine :lol:

Cheers junkie, that's what I've done for now. Only issue with it though is if I turn up the damping too much at the minute it becomes quite bouncy so the stiffer springs with a bit less damping should be the answer (hopefully :lol:). Plus turned up damping is harder/crashier than stiffer springs. The new springs are on order so should be with me next week. I've been advised by Gaz to stick with the supplied front rates of 375 if going for stiffer rears. So I'll report back when I have fitted the new springs :)

Dinner For Schmucks - 6/10 Was funny, very funny in some parts as expected with Steve Carrell, but I found it too stupid and I was actually getting quite aggrevated at parts because it was so stupid.

Been away so not put up my views on the GAZ's yet so here's what I said in my gallery thread. I got the GAZ's fitted weekend before last and first impressions weren't great, but that was partly because I was useless with the damping adjustments etc and so it was bouncing all over the place, but I've got it all settled down now and they are better than the Weitec's, still firm but not as crashy. My only issue with them is with the supplied spring rates of 375lb front and 180lb rear which seems like too big a gap to me. The Weitecs were 400lb front and 280lb rear! I asked for 343lb (60nm) front and 228 (40nm) rear's for the GAZ but for some reason they just supplied the ones they thought were best, which I didn't argue with as they're the experts. However the rears are just too soft, the turn in feels slow and the rear leans a bit too much for my liking. So I've contacted the seller and told him I'd like to try different springs and I'm still waiting on a different reply. He did say it shouldn't be a problem but just waiting on GAZ now. I think with the right spring rates on they will be great though. Just need to set them up properly with someone who knows what they're doing :lol:

Definitely! I had a GSF gearbox mount on mine, and it lasted less than a year. I was getting vibrations on idle and part throttle (traffic etc), juddery clutch and notchy gear change. Fitted a VT one I had lying around, the gear change was a lot better and power delivery felt tight etc but the car would vibrate a LOT on idle. Now bit the bullet and fitted a genuine VAG one and it's smoooooooth :clap:

How old are the engine mounts? Are they genuine? I recently replaced my gearbox mount from a nackered old GSF mount to a new genuine VAG mount (pricey but worth it!) and the idle is a LOT smoother than it was. Ok mine is an R32 but Kev's found the same with his VRT. New engine mounts make a big different to the smoothness of the engine IMO!

I went VW today to get my refund today for the early upper trim. I felt quite privileged as the parts guy let me go in the back to use one of the computers to dig out the part numbers as I'd forgotten them, all these mechanics etc were walking past me thinking WTF?? :lol: Anyway, the early upper trim is indeed now showing in the system as obsolete as of yesterday! :bad-words: Checked the late trim again with the 01C on the end and was still showing as obsolete, in fact just giving the part numbers without 01C doesn't work, you need the 01C to complete the part number. I think you were just very lucky Dan_Storm and your local had them hidden away somewhere. So we are now officially stuck :( I have half a piece of trim on my column now and can't possibly get the next half. So our only hope now really is to find a late 8v with fixed column breaking :pale: or an early valver with fixed column breaking :|

Yeah I was actually pretty surprised with my Kumho's in the pouring rain last week. I had just been go karting in the rain (which was awesome fun!) so getting back in my car felt awesome. I drove home pretty fast and there was plenty of predictable grip, really impressed me actually 8)

Cool, well I need to go in tomorrow anyway and get my refund for the obsolete early upper trim so I'll ask him and see what it says on his system. Strange though as the 01C is just the colour code :scratch:

That's probs not the cause of my clunking then, but there's nothing else to it :scratch: How does one stop the dreaded 'creaking' with the rears, is it a case of leaving the bolts at the bottom slightly loose, putting the car down so they have full weight on and then tightening them up?
